The Chimera Urban Series 48 x 48" Window Pattern Kit lets you create the interesting light patterns and effects, without all the time-consuming work. This kit conatins 6 window patterns that help you achieve varied lighting backgrounds for interviews, portraits, and still life, along with a frame with window holder, a clear Mylar for logos, and a handy ballistic cloth duffle.

A: As per Chimera, the patterns would measure 22 x 22 inches.

Q: 7. Are there any grid type accessories for this softbox? I like that the front is one piece but it looks like adding a grid may be hard with no recessed edge. Even feathering is hard to achieve.

A: No it is not possible to use grid for this model of Chimera boxes. Please check the models with hood around and the white front surface inside.

Q: 8. Would this fabric be considered 'noisy' or 'silent' in windy situations?

A: The material is considered silent.

Q: 9. Can it be made smaller by leaving out some of the bars?

A: No, this Chimera Panel Frame is one piece that snaps together.

Q: 10. How tight are Chimera fabrics(48x48 ) on a Matthews break apart frame 48x48 ?

A: Not very tight... There are elastic strips on the 4 corners. It can bounce up and down 6-8 in high winds. I put a 5 lbs sand bag in the middle to help. These are great silks though... Get the 1/4 for use with an HMI. I use these instead of the Scrim Jim because of a better look and portability. Hope this helps?

I just attach it to a boom pole or a reflector holder then placing it in front of a light source to create a nice diffused light. 5

This is my second most used window pattern from the Chimera Window Patterns Kit. I use it to light boring walls behind talent on interview shoots. I've got to confess I made my own cucoloris pattern using foam board and it looks downright creepy. Boris Karloff sort of stuff. So I broke down and purchased the Chimera patterns. I prefer the larger Chimera patterns when trying to add a splash to walls, the smallest patterns seem better suited to me for extremely small areas. I appreciate and stand behind the Chimera brand for their quality, portability as well as tried and true safety while on location. Great product. Recommended for anybody's kit. 5

I am using it with the Matthews Roadflags II Frame, the quality of the fabric is good and it fits firmly on the frame using the elastic corners 5

I have had a few of these a few weeks now and really like them. They are made of good material that seems like it will last. They worked great for the project I purchased them for and I look forward to using this one and others by Chimera in the future. 5

This collapsable frame was a fantastic addition to my package. A great alternative to larger rigid frames. If I were to buy another I would likely get the compact model only so that I could travel it more easily. For day to day local work, I have no complaints. 5

I just switched up how I light single and double talent interviews this year. I already had a Chimera 42 inch X 42 inch frame on hand so I ordered a Chimera 5142 1/2 Grid Cloth as the first layer of diffusion on my old school ARRI Fresnel key light. Just in front of that I hang a Chimera 5162 72 inch X 72 inch 1/2 Grid Cloth for additional softening. With a Matthews 4 foot X 4 foot Black Floppy for negative fill, I then add a single back light positioned and flagged for rim and shoulders. Great results for interviews. Chimera has a great crew and offers stellar customer service. Really stoked about this new set up. 5
