Q: 1. What metal is the center spider (area where the legs fit) made of?

A: This tripod's center is made of aluminium.

Q: 2. can someone who have used this tripod for a while and long periods of time IN WATER please give us a report? i have been trying to find a tripod that's waterproof for years and spent countless of money on so many products that always gave up in water... please confirm the durability of the legs and the rings in water... thanks :)

A: I bought mine in Sept of 2016 and have had it in salt water probably over 60 times. I have never rinsed it off and never wiped it down. Admittedly, I'm pretty tough on my gear and killed 3 previous tripods. B&H recommended this one, so I took a chance on it and LOVE it. Even after everything I had put it through, it works like the day I bought it. I did loose a rubber foot somewhere in Hawaii (oh ya, I even shot the lava with it) and had to have it replaced. But that's it. I look at tripods 2 and 3 times more expensive than this one and thought that I need to spend that kind of money to get a good one. Boy am I glad I didn't and the B&H recommended this one. Super happy with it (and no, I don't work for Sirui.. hahaha). Hope that helped you.

Q: 3. Is the center post removable? How long is the center post? I hope to use it for low shots with my macro lens and center posts can be a hindrance.

A: The short center column of the Benro CLT204 2-Series Induro Classic Carbon Fiber Tripod can be removed, and is about 5.3".

Q: 4. Can you spread legs to wide setting?

A: The Minimum Working Height of the Benro Induro Hydra 2 Waterproof Carbon Fiber Series #2 Tripod is 13.2" / 33.6 cm. The legs can't be spread further to lower the tripod.

Q: 5. Would the RRS 55H work on this tripod? And would suggest this or the manfrotto 055 for using with a sigma 150-600?

A: Yes. The Sirui W-2204 Waterproof Carbon Fiber Tripod is compatible with the RRS BH-55 head. The Sirui is waterproof, taller, and lighter weight than the Manfrotto 055. Both would be fine for use with the 150-600 lens.

Q: 6. Based on photos and short description, it appears that the center column is removeable. Correct? Thx

A: Yes, the center column is removeable.

Q: 7. Is it steady enough to hold a Nikon D3s + 70-200mm f2.8 or 200-500mm lens?My concern is especially if the tripod is steady enough at the center column not moving or shaking while panning.

A: Yes. I use it with my sigma 150-600 sport lens and it works great. It is rated for 33lbs. I think.

Q: 8. What is the diameter of the center column?

A: The diameter of the center column on the Benro Induro Hydra 2 Waterproof Carbon Fiber Series #2 Tripod is 29mm. The base mount is 56mm wide.

Q: 9. Need help!!!!! Where can I buy the replacement rubber feet for this product? I lost one of the three rubber feet that comes along with the tripod. Thank you.

A: You can order them at http://www.siruiusa.com or bay phoning 973-415-8082 866-373-0829

Q: 10. Is the center column on the Hydra 2 tripod removable?

A: Yes, the Benro Induro Hydra 2 Waterproof Carbon Fiber Series #2 Tripod center column can be removed and inverted for low level shooting.

[Yes] I’ve carried this tripod all over the world with me. It fits in my suitcase (with the head removed) which is essential. It’s sturdy, it’s light, I love twist tightening for the legs and I frequently use the center post.

I’ve had one minor issue with it: sometimes the legs jump the track, and then you must replace the little plastic sleeves they use to tighten the leg. Not a huge deal.

This is a fantastic tripod for such a reasonable price!

[Carbon Fiber] I used this tripod in a murky, swampy river of central Florida. I attached a nice swivel head to hold a Z8 with 70-180 lens. Seemed sturdy to me. Water did enter each of the 3 legs. I removed the bottom leg plugs and used a hose & nozzle to flush the legs for a good cleaning. Nice to know it is carbon fiber so it will not rust.

[5] I bought this tripod to replace a Gitzo I've had and abused for more than 20 years, until it finally wore out. The Benro feels excellent, very sturdy, light, and well made. Time will tell whether it will live up to the Gitzo's longevity, but for now I am very happy with my purchase.

[Yes] Have owned another brand tripod for about a decade and wasn't really even looking for another one. Found this one on Deal of the day and immediately purchased it. I really like the winged center column lock. The other tripod would droop because I didn't get it tight enough when doing portraiture. Have photographed soccer games with the Nikkor 200-500 on a gimbal head and it was stable.

This tripod can also get very close to the ground which was another selling point for me. Definitely a good all-around prosumer-style tripod. Have also enjoyed the two accessory mount points just as well.

[Twist Lock] For the price, this tripod seems great as an entry into carbon fiber tripods. Despite the light weight, it is very solid and the leg locks feel secure.

[Carbon Fiber] This is the best tripod I have ever owned. The waterproofing is fantastic and the feature is one of the reasons why I bought this. Keep in mind the center column is not waterproof. I made the mistake of putting it in the water but I dried it off in time. Used this at full extension in the ocean and on the beach and it works really well. Sturdy and even using a benro heavy video head works well. Overall, sturdy and waterproof, tall and what I was looking for.

[Twist Lock] This is a fantastic product, but one must understand how it is different to fully appreciate it. It's a tripod wearing fishing waders: that is to say, it's waterproof up to, but not over, the top of the carbon fiber legs. And each twist lock is a watertight seal, not just an expansion lock, so a couple of things come into play:

    1. The legs don't drop free when the locks are loosened.
    2. The seals are rubber against carbon fiber, and deserve a little maintenance.

The unit I received had some VERY stiff locks, but upon inspection it was clear that the O-rings were just dry. A thorough coat of silicone grease (consult your local diving store or online soulless megacorporation) on all 12 of them, and some twist/untwists to spread it evenly around, and it's an ENTIRELY different experience. When properly lubricated, this thing feels as high-quality as it looks.

I will also note that the O-rings, if too dry, can catch on the tubing and ride up the leg, rendering the seal ineffective. This is easy to spot if you know what you're looking for, and just as easy to fix by rolling it back into place.

All in all, though it lacks some of the more modern amenities such as the ability to remove the center column but keep the spider mounted, it has a feast of practical touches that make its setup and use a joy. Each of the three wrenches needed for this beast is not only included, but built in to the tripod — you *can't* be without them. The bag comes with an INNER bag, as if to say Yep, we get that this thing is likely to be covered in seaweed and sand, so let's not get everything else in here messy until you can wash it off, eh?. And it comes with a set of spiked stainless steel feet, which seems like it should be the default for a tripod made for standing in water, but so often these are a hefty extra charge.

Five stars. No other notes. Completely happy.

[Carbon Fiber] Since outfitting my wife with her first tripod and head, specifically for use with her iPhone 15 Pro Max, I realized that the whole kit was far superior to what I was using for my own similar purposes. I couldn't resist, and am now enjoying my own Benro CLT204 Induro Tripod.

Like hers, I fitted mine with an Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 with Panning System, with an Alyn Wallace designed Z-Mount from Move Shoot Move on top. To avoid the perils of having Bobsy-twin equipment, I added Cinelli cork handlebar tape to mine so we could easily lay our hands on our own tripod.

Had money been no object, I might have chosen Acratech's lightweight, yet rock solid Panoramic head on top of a Kirk Mini Leveling Base, but the above was my choice, and after a two week road trip to Anza-Borrego, Joshua Tree, Big Sur, and points between, we're both delighted with our setups.

The whole system is rock solid for our purposes while being lightweight enough that we don't feel burdened with weight, and can quickly move about in rough terrain. Everything performed even better than expected.

Benro's Induro is smooth, solid, friendly to the demands of challenging terrain. I believe I can reasonably expect a long life of trouble free support from this tripod.

On top of the Z-Mount, a Robus Smartphone Adaptor is robust indeed and assures a solid grip on an iPhone in Apple's silicone case. The Z-Mount itself is a simple and perfect adaptation eliminating the sometimes troublesome quirks of a ball head while composing, while the Arca-Swiss offers one of the simplest, most effortless ball head options on the market, and eliminates typical challenges leveling for panoramas.
