Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It looks like the ASFT 100 and the ASSF 80 will both fit my telescope. The Baader film is the same in both filters. What am I getting in the ASFT 100 that warrants spending the extra $10?

A: A larger metal ring. A larger film area.

Q: 2. Baader sells this part packaged also with an M48 ring insert (only in the case of the Sony adapter). Do you include this extra ring?

A: Here is a list of the Baader rings B&H sells for Sony https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/astrophotography-adapter-rings-extension-tubes/ci/48682?filters=fct_brand_name%3Aalpine-astronomical&searchWithin=sony

Q: 3. My Nikon Action EX 16x50 binos have an outside diameter of exactly 60mm. Should I order the 60mm filters or the 70mm?

A: The Alpine Astronomical 60mm Baader AstroSolar White-Light Solar Filter for Binoculars (Single) would be too large to fit 16x50 binoculars. This Daystar kit would fit instead: https://bhpho.to/3qFnkJe

Q: 4. Is this adapter 8.3 mm long, as shown at the Baader site?

A: Yes the length would be 8.3mm.

Q: 5. What size would you recommend for a Zeiss 20x60 IS binoculars? Are these the safest filters to use? Thanks.

A: The Alpine Astronomical 60mm Baader AstroSolar White-Light Solar Filter for Binoculars (Single) BH #ALASBF60 • MFR #ASBF-60 would be the appropriate sixe for the Zeiss 20x60 IS binoculars.

Q: 6. Can I add 2mm or 4mm filter guides to the filter holder like the LEE Filters holder?

A: The NiSi V7 Alpha 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder does not have optional guides to change the filter thickness.

Q: 7. Can I insert a 4x4 filter, a 4x6 filter, and a NiSi True Color CPL Filter all into this holder?

A: You can insert 4x4 filters, 4x6 filters, and the NiSi True Color CPL Filter in the NiSi V7 Alpha 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder.

Q: 8. What items are in the box?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader 2x Carl Zeiss Abbe Barlow Lens (1.25") BH #ALZBARLOW • MFR #ZBARLOW comes with the Alpine Astronomical Baader 1.25"/T-2 Click-Lock Eyepiece Holder Adapter BH #ALT208 • MFR #T2-08 and a 2 year aarranty.

Q: 9. With the Barlow attached, this effectively goes between 3.5mm - 10mm, right?

A: With a 2X barlow correct

Q: 10. Will this fit a M48 X .75 thread?

A: This is an M42 Thread, so it will not fit that threading size.

They work quite well; no halos or any undesirable behavior which I could notice as of now. They did require an increase in exposure time, but that's expected.

I bought this to see if it would help bring out some color and detail for my astrophotography. I have little light pollution in my area but it this thing really does what it's supposed to. I did some test shots with a colorchecker passport in regular daylight and the difference is definitely noticeable. There's a very clear boost in color and slight boost in contrast, what I mean is that they appear more clearly and saturated. It's magic! I might even start using this for some regular photography too! I have to use step-down adapters to fit these onto my lenses as I am not using it with a telescope (67mm, 58mm, 52mm). I just wish they made these in sizes native to DSLR/Mirrorless lenses! Highly recommend! Also if you are someone purchasing for a DSLR/Mirrorless camera, Get the 2 version of course, and you will need step-down/step-up adapters to 48mm. Even though 2 is not 48mm, that is the threads for this baader filter. I recommend the sensei filter adapters, cheap and very well made. In order to adapt some lens sizes down to 48mm, you might have to buy a couple adapters and stack them. I had to do this for my larger 67mm lenses. There will of course be vignetting when doing this, but its no big deal to me.

I live in heavily light polluted skies, yet I can go out in the backyard and look up at the billowing clouds of the milky way. I can actually see meteorite showers when they are happening. This is all possible by using this filter in conjunction with a Gen3 night vision device. This filter blocks out all light below 685nm which is basically all the man made light pollution leaving mostly celestial light for your enjoyment. This does cut out hydrogen alpha light, so you will not be seeing nebulae with this, but a separate band pass filter is used for that purpose.

There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself.

Baader makes some great lenses and filters, I have yet to be disappointed and this one is no different.

I am using the clamp on a SkyWatcher Star Adventurer 2i mount. It is quite versatile in that it can be attached to a mount in several ways. It is very well built and enables secure attachment of lenses/telescopes with Vixen dovetail bars. A very good value.

One of the best items I've purchased for my 140mm telescope.
The reduction in sky glow and the contrast improvement add to those Oh, Wow! moments of star gazing.
