Bubblebee Windkiller SE for DPA 4018G Microphoneis a furry windshield that effectively protects your DPA 4018G or 4018E microphone against wind noise, while remaining acoustically transparent—ideal for accurate outdoor recordings.

The Windkiller SE's outer layer features high-density, soft, multi-pile fur, which gradually slows the wind down before it reaches your mic. Inside, a super-soft, smooth, open material helps maintain acoustic transparency.

The black elastic tab and press stud keeps The Windkiller SE firmly attached to your microphone. It seamlessly blends into the windshield to remain discreet.

When fitted correctly, The Windkiller SE holds a bubble of dead air around the front of the mic capsule, allowing the microphone to function as naturally as possible and keeping wind interference at a minimum.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which Bubblebee Long Hair Windkiller for the Azden SGM-250CX Short Shotgun Microphone? Small or Extra Small?

A: The Azden SGM-250CX Short Shotgun Microphone requires the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Long Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics (Small, Black). The capsule section of the microphone is 4" long, and the windshield is 4.1" long.

Q: 2. Whats the difference between long hair and the short one?

A: The simple answer is that a windshield with longer hair can provide better protection for the microphone against wind noise in very strong wind because the longer hair and varying lengths can help to slow down the wind's speed before it reaches the mic. A windshield with shorter hair generally works very well to protect the microphone against wind noise in low- to mid-level wind. Additionally, the shorter hair allows a microphone to retain more of its original frequency response.

Q: 3. I see the output impedenace is 135 ohms. What is the input impedance? I can't find this stat anywhere on their website. Thanks!

A: sE Electronics lists the recommended load impedance for the DM1 Dynamite Active Inline Microphone Preamp as greater than1k ohms. You can find the complete list of specifications on page 4 of the user manual: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/636703.pdf

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the Tascam Portacapture X8?

A: Yes, the Windkiller SE Windscreen from Bubblebee Industries is compatible for use with the Tascam Portacapture X8 Multitrack Recorder.

Q: 5. Is it okay to use this with a shotgun microphone that can take a battery for its phantom power, such as the Senheisser MKE 600?

A: Yes, the sE Electronics DM1 Dynamite Active Inline Microphone Preamplifier could be used to increase the gain of a battery-powered shotgun microphone such as the Sennheiser MKE 600, but doing so may overload the input connection or exaggerate the self-noise of the microphone.

Q: 6. Will this work for the Rode NTG-3?

A: Yes, the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Long Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics (Large, Black) is compatible with the Rode NTG3 Shotgun Microphone.

Q: 7. What is the inner diameter and depth in cm?

A: The Bubblebee Industries The Windkiller SE Windscreen is designed to fit over the built-in stereo X/Y microphones on portable handheld recorders like the TASCAM DR-40x, Zoom H5 and H6 with the XYH-5 capsule, and Sony PCM-D100. The manufacturer has not provided dimensions, but we can use the dimensions of items like the the Zoom XYH-5 capsule and the Sony PCM-D100 to provide a better estimate of the size. The XYH-5 capsule measures 2.6 x 2.4 x 1.6" (65.5 x 62.2 x 41 mm). Additionally, the fourth photo on the item page shows the windscreen used with the Sony PCM-D100, which measures 6.2 x 2.8 x 1.3" (7.2 × 15.7 × 3.3 cm).

Q: 8. Does it work for sennheiser mke600? If not, which one do you have that does fit it?

A: Yes, the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Long Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics will fit mics with a diameter of 18 to 24mm, and the Sennheiser MKE 600 has a diameter of 20mm.

Q: 9. Whats the difference between long and short hair?

A: The simple answer is that a windshield with longer hair can provide better protection for the microphone against wind noise in very strong wind because the longer hair and varying lengths can help to slow down the wind's speed before it reaches the mic. A windshield with shorter hair generally works very well to protect the microphone against wind noise in low- to mid-level wind. Additionally, the shorter hair allows a microphone to retain more of its original frequency response.

Q: 10. Can the capsules be interchanged for omnis? Confusing because the Sound on Sound review said they are fixed but I see omni caps in your inventory.

A: Yes, you can use the sE8 Omni Microphone Capsules - Matched Pair (B&H # SE8OMNICAPPR) in place of the cardioid capsules that come with sE8 microphones.

[Black] I was getting ready for a trip where we were going to be filming a lot of skateboarding. I wanted to find a solution that would be great to mic up the skateboarder we were filming without running into russell issues. This solved all our problems! Could not speak more highly of it! Best $17 you can spend for your lav kit

[Faux Fur] Similar to the Sanken RM-11 rubber mount, but much more technical. Some small parts, but altogether it makes a very sturdy mount - no way to pull the mic out by accident, yes it makes a tiny mic 10x bigger, But that's what you have to do to prevent clothing noise most of the time. Also at $17 it is fairly economical. A must-have for DPA 6060

[Faux Fur] These mics are some of the most natural sounding microphones I've heard. They have a super flat frequency response - the flattest of any consumer or professional mic I've seen, except for measuring microphones. The tiny diameter of the mic (about 1/4 in) makes for excellent off-axis high end response. It's difficult to hear much difference in sound quality, whether you're on axis, or 90 deg off axis to the mic. This should make them great for small venues up close with no proximity effect, or for large auditoriums at further distances to the sound source. Of-course, the downside is the relatively high noise level - 23 dBA. I've played around with these mics in a living room environment and a smaller bedroom set up as a sound room, recording music from loudspeakers. So far, I've not noticed the noise level, or at least it hasn't become apparent above the room noise, which was relatively quiet. Recording music from my ESS Hiel Tower loudspeakers equalized for flat response over the range of my one octave analyser (31.5 Hz - 16 KHz), they sounded absolutely phenomenal. Deep, rich, clean bass up through the smooth highs, these mics are great. I look forward to recording some live music with them.

[0.07 lb] I bought, and have tried a few windjammers for my D100. This is the best of the lot. Some others may come slightly close but they alter the EQ too much. This is brilliant, very effective and sound remains uncoloured.

[Black] I have owned various windkillers from a wide range of companies over the years. These are by far the best. Construction is solid and materials are premium. The 18 to 24mm (Extra Large, Black) wind protector fits the Sennheiser MKH 416 P48 like a glove and is just the right length to cover the openings of the mic and allow for attachment to boom or camera. 5 stars because I can't find a single negative to gripe about. Money well spent!

[4.4 x 2 x 1.9"] This is by far the cleanest sounding, extremely low noise omnidirectional mic I've owned. I absolutely love listening to the results of my recordings as I always get beautiful results. Also, they very require very little to no audio editing/treatment before I render my tracks. As of now I've owned the 2006c(stereo pair)for 4 months and I have no complaints thus far.
