Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this unit support eARC for all inputs and output?

A: The IOGEAR 4KX2K 4-Port HDMI Switch supports Consumer Electronics Control (CEC), however there is no mention of eARC support.

Q: 2. Will this work with a Dish Network or Direct TV receiver?

A: Yes it will. This unit is HDCP compliant and designed to work with home entertainment products like DVRs, Video Game Systems, Blu/DVD players and Satellite/Cable receivers.

Q: 3. How is the quality of the audio? I don't see any questions or comments about that at all, so far!

A: The IOGEAR 4KX2K 4-Port HDMI Switch has DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby® TrueHD Support. The 4K UHD 4-Port Video Switch also supports next generation uncompressed 7.1 digital surround sound audio formats.

Q: 4. Will this power adapter works with 220 V?

A: The power adapter of the IOGEAR met(AL) USB 3.0 4-Port Hub can also support 220v.

Q: 5. Can you connect this switcher to itself with the RS232 control cable and control multiple units at once?

A: The RS-232 connection on this unit is available so it can be be paired with a high-end control system, such as products made by Crestron and Extron. You should be able to connect multiple of these units to such a control system, however you will want to consult with an AV Engineer about creating such an advanced system.

Q: 6. Does this hub support 5gbps per port or 5gbps over the whole hub?

A: It's up to 5 Gbps overall, not per port.

Q: 7. Would this be compatible with an equipment rack?

A: Yes, this HDMI switcher comes with rack ears that you attach to make it rack mountable.

Q: 8. From one of the answers, it sounds as though the hub will work without the AC. Is this true?

A: You should be able to use the IOGEAR met(AL) USB 3.0 4-Port Hub with Power Adapter without its power supply. But that's going to depend on the devices you're planning to connect. If you're connecting multiple external hard drives, I recommend to use the hub with its power supply.

Q: 9. How long is the AC adapter cable?

A: Measuring, from where the cable leaves the power supply plug to the tip of the plug that goes into the hub, it's 48" (4').

Q: 10. Can this device allow me to hook up monitors to my laptop?

A: This would only let you connect other USB peripherals such as hard drives, flash drives, card readers, or other USB devices.

[80%] This KVM is used to control 3 PCs and 1 MAC. Setup was easy using the manual, which was detailed. The most amazing (and unexpected) feature is the ability to switch the KVM to one source and have the audio play out of another. On the multiple monitor setup we have we can watch and listen to TV or music one one PC and work on any of the other 3. The keyboard shortcuts that allow this took a day or two to remember but now are instinctive. We are very pleased with this KVM, which is an upgrade to an older rack mount PS2 type switch. The lighted control buttons on the front panel indicating what has been selected is a plus.

[AC Adapter] This is my second IOGear 4-Port DVI KVMP. I love this thing. I have them hooked up to a few Mac Pros, Mac Minis and z820s. They are easy to set up. Switching between computers is fast and stupidly easy.

[4 (4 Cascade)] Compared to a cheaper KVM I was using before this is a big step up in functionality. I was having issues with my keyboard getting confused and not working when switching. This KVM avoids that issue. I appreciate that it has a USB 3 hub. I like that the switch can be triggered from the keyboard. I only wish that the case was smaller for the two port version.

[Metal] I'd been wanting this for years, once I finally installed it. I don't even notice it. But it saves me tons of time and from ruining my connectors from switching between computers. The only draw back I've found is, there's no software to help you customize the programing. This only applies to advanced users. The product works great. But to change settings there are keystrokes to enable certain features. I was hoping for a little program that just had check boxes to let you select how buttons switched, or be able to change the keystrokes to switch computers from the keyboard. Now you have to change the settings by confusing and non-memorizable 3-5 button keystrokes.

[Metal] Connection took few minutes - there are lots of cables to be rearranged. After this no issues at all. Image quality on the screen (1680x1050) from standard PC and Dell E6400 laptop are fantastic. For unknown reason the laptop did not recognize the USB gear immediately, but after reboot (living it alone alive at the switch) everything got fixed. Video camera works great connected to the back of the switch, phone jack connected to Line Out on the front panel will cut off sound from the speakers, living it only to whatever is connected to the Line Out jack. I tested the front panel USB with stick drive and RCI to USB converter - works fantastic. Highly recommend this to professionals and amateurs! It is expensive, but it deserves the money!

[AC Adapter] I'm running 3 computers on this KVM switch. Function is a breeze. I like the option of audio follows/audio doesn't follow-when you switch around systems. Build is solid, this box is worth the money.

[AC Adapter] This IOGEAR GCS110-4 4-Port KVMP switch is my first purcahse of this type of gear...should have bought one years ago. I had checked out one of the other brands, but the manufacturer's web-site had the same photo and description for two models, very confusing. I am using this switch with three computer, Win7, Win8.1 and a Linux rig. I keep the fourth port open for testing other computers, no need to connect one being tested to a separate keyboard and mouse setup. This switch allows me to easily switch between computers via keyboard shortcuts. I have a Logitech Keyboard and Mouse which share a single wireless USB dongle, plugging the dongle into the keyboard USB port of the monitor area of the switch allows me to use the keyboard and mouse on all computers. I did have to uninstall the Logitech software which allowed for custom keyboard layout (volume up/down, next track, etc.) as it seemed to conflict with the way the KVMP switch emulated Keyboard and Mouse Control...not an issue for me in this case. I am not a hard-core gamer, thus do not have a mouse with 92 buttons on it..more of a FPS and Flight Sim guy here. I like the fact that I can switch the keyboard/mouse, Vidoe and USB separately from the audio, that is I can have music playing on one computer, switch the Keyboard/Mouse, Video, and USB to another computer and still hear the music from the first computer. I have all my external drives and printers connected directly to the Win7 computer working as a server for all my data. I have a USB hub connected to the KVMP input which is accessed by whichever computer I am using for such things as my web-cam, joystick, multimedia card reader, and ID CAC Card Reader. I started taking IT classes and now I can easily do remote access, learned how to access Windows Shared Folders from the Linux box...and more, having the computers side by side with one control system is a Godsend. I would recommend this switch to anyone considering such a purchase.

[Yes] This product replaced a Trendnet Displayport KVM which I didn't like so much that I spent the money to replace it. In short, the unit works well and is reliable, it's expandible, looks good and doesn't have any anoying features.

I have 3 coputers that needed to be switched and two monitors. This unit is expandible so by adding a second one, you can control up to 4 monitors. Didn't need that flexibility and didn't appreciate it till the pandemic when my wife started working from home and her job required 3 screens, with a fourth being a bonus. That expandibility became a real bonus and it's nice to have because you never know when you will need it.

The unit remembers how you lay out the screens. I place and size some screens to open on one monitor and others on the other monitors. When switching between computers, turning them on and off, all the program open in that consistent way. No need to reconfigure anything.

There are no anoying or distracting features such as flashing lights like I had with my Trendnet unit. Unobstrusive at home or at the office. It costs more than other units but you get cables included and that saves a bunch, including itme, if you have to buy them on your own. The displayport cables should be longer but the rest of the cables were fine. I have not used the speaker output or the microphone input so can't comment on these.

[80%] This IOGEAR series of 2 port and 4 port KVMs have the best features for the lowest price in this range. The most impressive thing is that they spoof the usb and EDIDs from the output to every input. Meaning that when you switch between channels the other inputs do not 'lose the connection' to the switch. Only wish is that they came in a rackmount form.

[4 (4 Cascade)] We have five of these that date back to 2013 or older. They are pretty much all still in working order after years of daily use. A few times we needed to replace cables due to wear and tear, but that's expected. I have bought some competitors DVI KVMs that stopped working within 0-3 years. Guess I'm sticking with IOGEAR :)
