Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The Tamron website says this is a C-Mount lens. Can someone confirm that is C or CS mount?

A: The manufacturer website information always takes precedence. They say this is a C mount lens so C mount it is. I have alerted the B&H web department and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience.

Q: 2. Does it only work with Nikon or canon lenses

A: Hi Paul, Thank you for your interest in Reikan FoCal. I think the question is answered but just to add, FoCal works with pretty much any / all Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras which allow AF microadjust / AF fine tune, you can double check the list of supported cameras by searching google with "reikan focal supported cameras". In terms of the lenses themselves, any auto focus lens which is compatible with a supported camera will work. These can be Canon, Nikon as well as 3rd party including Sigma, Tamron and Tokina lenses. Best Regards, Dave

Q: 3. What's the difference between the plus and the pro?

A: Focal Pro has the additional functions:Aperture Sharpness find out the sharpest aperture for your lensesAutofocus Consistency check out the autofocus performance of you camera.Dust Analysis find out how much dust is on your sensor, and which aperture it will start affecting images.MultiPoint Focus Test automated comparison of many focus points, and even full individual calibration. Also, FoCal Plus will NOT allow calibration of lenses or a combination of lens & teleconverter with an effective focal length longer than 400mm. For this, you will require FoCal Pro.

Q: 4. Does the current version of the software support the new Canon 1DX Mark II? Or is a software update needed before it can be used?

A: Probably not. I just opened it and checked for updates (there weren't any). It's been a while since I last saw one and that update, as far as I understood, only really corrected bugs and didn't add any cameras.

Q: 5. Does a printed target come with this Purchase of Focal Pro 2 from B&H?

A: Yes. Also when registering online, they have other target downloads that you can print yourself

Q: 6. Are the callinration settings potentially impacted by an extender? If so, does Cannon save callibration settings with and without the extender for the same lens?

A: Yes, the calibration settings are impacted by an extender. I use an extender with my long telephoto lenses. My Canon camera -5DMkIII- did save the settings for with and without the extender.

Q: 7. Can I enter the FoCal values into the Sigma 150-600 Sports lens using the Sigma Dock & software instead of entering in the camera? If so, is it a 1 to 1 entry? (I have a Canon 5DMKIII camera.)

A: Hi Keith, Thank you for your interest in Reikan FoCal. Realise you might have moved on by now (we've only just now have access to post up answers here). Use of the Sigma Dock (and Tamron TAP) with Reikan FoCal is possible, it's a fairly involved process but raising a support request via the Reikan FoCal website the support team will be able to provide some useful info. Best Regards, Dave

Q: 8. Does this support Mac 10.15 (Catalina)?

A: Hi Carol, Yes, macOS 10.15 Catalina is fully supported :) Best,. Dave

Q: 9. If I understand, I will have to run the program with each of my lens 9 Nikkor and Tamron G2. Is the camera record and keep in memory the correction result per lens ?

A: Yes. Each lens may have a different optimal AF Fine-tune set point. The last step in the FoCal is to enter the optimal AF-Fine tune number for that particular test. The (Nikon) camera will remember the setting for each lens tested and will automatically load that number when you put the lens on the camera. You can always change it manually, in the camera, for the lens that is on the camera. Test Zoom lenses at different focal lengths. You may have to compromise on the "best" setting since Nikon cameras only store one correction number for each lens.

Q: 10. In the product pictures, I see several wires running between the laptop and the camera. What sort of hardware do I need to connect my camera to my computer?

A: The USB cable that came with the camera connects the camera to the laptop or computer. In some cases the software is able to control the camera and "enter" the correcting factors automatically, in others you have to manually add the numbers before the next step is performed. In this case make sure you have a very secured tripod/tripod head to avoid any movement otherwise you will need to start all over.

[13.1mm] Lens is used with a Point Grey gig E camera. Works quite well with a good minimum focal distance.

[16mm] Great wide angle lens with extreme light sensitivity! Super affordable which makes the build quality a little questionable. This does not affect picture quality though. Great lens that gets the job done. I used it for machine vision applications.

[Fixed] I bought this lens to use with a In-line process camera for my laser processing work station. This fixed focal length long focal length lens worked perfectly and I was able to zoom the work area with a clear image. I recommend this product srongly for imaging where the working distance is a constraint.

[Fixed] Was trying out different style lens for this processing machine application. With this one having adjustability for both the Iris and the focus, it really helped for this low light area. We set it, locked down the screws and we are good to go.

[13.1mm] A great, sharp ultra wide lens for the BMPCC with low chromatic abberation and distortion. It covers the BMPCC and Panasonic GH4 4K sensor. Downside is that this lens has no front filter thread, but if you search diligently enough one of the anamorphic lens holders will clamp onto it.

[16mm] This lens is great if you need a wide angle with superb light sensitivity for an extremely affordable price ! Sure its build quality can not match more expensive lenses. But it gets the job done and pretty well at that! Even nice for macro! If the camera is more than 1.3 megapixel this lens might not be ideal! I used it for machine vision applications.
