Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the type and model of HDD that is preinstalled?

A: Hikvision has been using WD Purple drives.

Q: 2. Does it come with a wall plug? What type? The 'what's in the box' description' doesn't mention one. Thanks

A: Yes a power cable and AC wall plug is included. It is a two-bladed North American type.

Q: 3. Will this support non-hikvision cameras?

A: Yes as long as the cameras are ONVIF compliant. If you do go that route make sure you set up the camera first with a computer and then add it manually to the NVR.

Q: 4. Is it possible to access the connected IP cameras directly from other network devices over the LAN port?

A: Yes, with a web browser you would access the system and go to Configuration Network Advanced Settings Other, click the check box for Enable Virtual Host, click save. Then you would go to the IP camera management interface and you will see a connect column on the right-most side of the camera list.

Q: 5. I am new to this (security camera's) and Hikvision seems to have SO MANY options and variations. I will have 4 (4mp) camera's and 2 (6mp) cameras for my house and hopefully set to record upon motion. How long will 2TB allow recording time wise before overwriting? Also what is the difference between Q2 and I2 versions of this NVR? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: This NVR could easily store up to a month of footage depending upon the frequency of motion triggered events, frame rate and compression type chosen. The Q2 series tops out at 4K UHD (8mp) (1 camera) resolution and the I2 series will host up to 12 MP network cameras (Hikvision and third-party).

Q: 6. are the colorvu cameras compatible with this system?

A: Yes, you can use the colorvue cameras with this NVR. You should make sure that you are using the latest firmware.

Q: 7. Can this NVR replace my old Hik-vision NVR (DS-7608NI-E2/8P-2T)/SF Version 3.3..4_150811 if so: would i be able to just connect my 6 ip cameras to your listed NVR (Plug and play), or do i have to do some configuarations. i.e. add ip addr, ea camera separately?? Is this /nvr compatable with DOME camera (DS-2CD2132F-1/ DS-2CD2132F-IWS/bullet camera DS-2CD2032-I??

A: The Hikvision DS-7608NI-Q2/8P 8-Channel 4K UHD NVR (No HDD) BH #HI7608NIQ28P should work with your current IP cameras. You will havew to add each camera and set them up.

Q: 8. Foscam HT2 PTZ camara is compatible with this PoE NVR?, Thanks

A: The Hikvision DS-7604NI-Q1/4P 4-Channel 4K UHD PoE NVR with 1TB HDD BH #HIQ14P1TB will not work with FOSACAM products.

Q: 9. Will this take a 4K HDMI input and record to a SSD?

A: This unit does not support HDMI input. The only way I could think of to get a 4K HDMI into this is if there is a HDMI encoder that is ONVIF compliant. As for SSD, technically you could put a SATA SSD in the recorder but those would be more expensive compared to Surveillance HDDs, especially in the larger sizes.

Q: 10. Will I be able to see my camera function on my iphone device with this NVR?

A: You will be able to view the cameras on the Iphone through an application once the NVR is connected to your home network that is connected to the internet.

[USB Drive] I bought this as part of the Dahua N488L64A system that comes with six 4k cameras. Take a look at my review of that system for more details.

This NVR supports Dahua's IVS, just make sure your cameras also support IVS.

Also, when shopping for an NVR pay attention to the Decoding Resolution spec. This tells you how many channels the NVR can support at certain camera resolutions and frame rates.

[Yes] Replaced the NVR that I bought in 2018. Way better picture and features than the older model. Plus, I can hook up 8 more cameras. Paranoia road, here I come!

[1O, 1P, 1R] I have several - they work great. Easy to setup and maintenance is a snap. Fans are a little loud. The only complaint I have is they won't work with my new ANPR cameras.

[Embedded Linux] Love the OS and how plug and play the cameras are. Really impressed with image quality and playback functionality. Definitely recommend and would install for another client any day.

[USB Drive] Works great and I like the Lorex pro app way better than the older version.

[Embedded Linux] The NVR was very well packaged. I installed a 10TB additional drive immediately before attaching the NVR to my existing 8-camera system. The NVR uses an entirely new style motherboard which seems to be about half the size of the old one (N882). Startup & initialization were flawless and EZ. The included instructions were for the 'Cloud' system, but this NVR only works with the 'pro' system, no problem; the pro app works well on all my Apple platforms. Seemingly high quality, excellent operation, hope it lasts longer than the previous one (3 years).

[175 W] I have had 3 different NVRs. The other ones were from Geovision. Their first NVR worked well for about 6 years. The second one was thrown in the trash. The ENR-020P was relatively easy to configure, including the interface to other vendor's cameras. I had to play around with the encoding settings a little but this thing works. I like the UI. Keep in mind that I can't comment on reliability as I have only had it for a month or so - but I now have all my cameras displaying - which sometimes is a major problem if you have cameras from multiple vendors.

[120 W] I needed to place a camera around 1000 feet from the NVR. Lorex said that their ePoE technology could do that. I bought the system with 16 nocturnal vari focus 4K ePoE cameras. Lorex sent a N884 NVR instead of the N883 that has 8 ePoE ports. To fix this I was sent a 8 port ePoE switch. With 1000 feet of Cat6 cable, with T568A wired ends... it works perfectly. I'm very happy with my choice. I had a Q-See IP PoE system so I was able to use existing Cat6 wiring for the new cameras. I do notice that night time images are clearer and I can identify wild life at approximently 80 feet away with no supplimental lighting. Still learning to use the lorex cloud app. Still need to tweek some settings and adjust camera posistioning to use the vari-focus lens. Oh... vari focus lens can be adjusted on the 1000 foot cable, fyi. Thank you Lorex for EpoE..
