Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The spec says +5 diopter but the NiSi website says 3x for the 77mm?

A: As per NISI, the 77mm Close-Up lens has a +3 diopter strength.

Q: 2. Do you have to get a lot closer to the subject when using these closeup lenses?

A: Yes, using the NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings would require you to move physically closer in order to focus effectively on the subject.

Q: 3. Can I combine this with 100mm Macro Lens? Sensor is APSC

A: The NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings will increase the magnification on a macro lens. This add-on lens will fit lenses with a 77mm, 72mm and 67mm filter thread.

Q: 4. how much vignetting would occur on a 82mm filter using a step up ring? unfortunately my sigma 70-200 has 82mm front threads. It wouldn't kill me if I had to crop in a bit to eliminate the vignette.

A: The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 referenced has a 82mm front threading and you would need a step down ring from 82mm to 77mm to mount the NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings. It is possible that this will vignette slightly.

Q: 5. What is the difference between "NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II" and "NiSi MC Close-Up Lens 77mm PRO II"?

A: The NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings is the newer version. The main difference between that and the Pro model which is older and is discontinued is the NC version has a Nano Coating.

Q: 6. Can this be used in combination with the NiSi 58-mm close-up lens?

A: Chances are you will not be able to focus using both filters combined. And you can get flair and refraction. I would not suggest using both at the same time.

Q: 7. This adapter can you with Nisi S5 Sony 12-24 ?

A: This ring is not compatible with the 12-24.

Q: 8. Are M10 (non II) filters compatible with this?

A: All the original Haida M10 Drop-In Filters and M10 adapters work with the newer Haida M10-II Filter Holder Kit.

Q: 9. On an MIcro Four Thirds camera would the minimum focal length be 35mm or still the stated 70mm?

A: The usable focal lengths of 70-300mm are based on a full frame sensor.

Q: 10. Can this filter be used on the Canon RF 100-500L lens?

A: Yes, you can thread- in NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens to Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Lens. The lens would hunt for focus, I would recomend switching to manual focus.

[55 mm to 72 mm] You have one of two choices, get a different size ND filter for each lens with a different thread, or get adapters and worry whether you'll ever be able to unscrew your ND filter from the adapter. Even the highest end brass adapters are prone to stick. Kase Wolverine is the third option and so worth the price. I just leave this adapter on my Sigma 24mm lens and whatever ND or other filter I need, it drops right on. Perfect.

[55 mm to 72 mm] I still have a very expensive PMVND filter screwed into a high end brass 49 mm to 82 mm adapter three weeks after the shoot. For whatever reason it simply will not come off. On the eve of a shoot when I knew I'd need my 55mm lens, I bought the Kase Wolverine ND and filter kit along with a couple of adapters like this one, and could not be happier. This is a life saver. Leave it on the camera with a Kase mag lens cover, then whatever filter or ND I need, it drops on. Magnet is strong and holds the lens cover or filter perfectly. Most important, they come off easily when I'm done with them. Worth every penny.

[55 mm to 72 mm] Having begun with Formatt-Hitech Firecrest 100mm square filters, there was a steep learning curve. Once I had everything figured out, I still found myself put off by the amount of time and effort to set up the filters for a given composition. When the lighting conditions were constantly changing, I would find myself reaching for the filters and then deciding to forgo them, as I didn't want to miss a photographic opportunity. I began using the Formatt-Hitech filters less frequently, sacrificing shots that coule have used a CPL or ND filter.

When I first heard about the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Filters, I was skeptical. After watching or reading more and more reviews, I was enthralled with the idea of such a simple and easy solution for installing filters. Magnetic?! Snap-on?! Sounds incredible!

When I received the filters, the packaging was well padded and the filters were in perfect condition. Excitedly, opened the box and was impressed with the product packaging and filter case. I began playing with the filter kit like a giddy little boy and was pleasantly surprised.

My first concern was about the strength of the magnets. So, I began turning my camera and shaking it in several different motions. Since I enjoy ICM, it was important to ensure the filters are going to be secured with my wild movements of the camera. No movement I made could shake the filters loose! The magnetic hold is incredibly strong. My concerns were relieved and I have great confidence these filters will stay on the lens. The only time I could envision the filters falling to the ground is when removing them or by some other form of user error.

While I have not yet used the filters in the field as much, I did a close-to-home photo session of landscape images and was so happy to have a filter kit that is easy to install and put away. And I included some ICM images with those aforementioned wild camera movements. The filters held stronger than my Formatt-Hitech filter holder!!!
