Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work with RRS clamp?

A: Yes it does. This works with standard Arca style clamps such as the Really Right Stuff B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp (60mm), BH #REB2LRII.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the FTZ 1 lens mount?

A: The SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II does not list the Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter as compatible.

Q: 3. Will mounting an external microphone to the top of the smallrig cage (as opposed to mounting a microphone directly in the camera's hotshoe) decrease the amount of audible G-lens autofocusing noise picked up by the microphone when filming with older G-lenses?

A: While we are not aware of any specific testing on this it can only help. You still may hear it, but what you are hearing is a vibration coming through the camera body, a cage could help minimize that.

Q: 4. This may go without saying, but are the holes on the bottom compatible with 1/4" screw for Tripods?

A: Yes, the base of the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II has both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting points.

Q: 5. can i user a battery grip with this cage? the Neewer MB-N11 Battery Grip for Nikon Z6 II.

Q: 6. do you have to remove the camera strap to install cage?

A: Yes. We suggest to remove and place back on when done.

Q: 7. Would this work with a Nikon D7500? If not, which Small Rig product would work best?

A: Unfortunately, The Smallrig cage will not work with the Nikon D7500. We suggest looking at universal cages for your camera model. Universal cages - https://bhpho.to/3PZkZji

Q: 8. Can this be installed on a tripod/ball-head with Arca style plate?

A: Yes. Unit will need to be attached via arca style plate.

Q: 9. Does this cage have any QD sockets?

A: No, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II (B&H# SM2926) does not come with any built-in quick disconnect (QD) sockets.

Q: 10. Hello! Do we know whether a Z6iii could still fit in this?

A: As the Nikon Z6 III Mirrorless Camera with dimensions 5.5 x 4 x 2.9" / 138.5 x 101.5 x 74mm is slightly larger than the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera with dimensions 5.3 x 4 x 2.7" / 134 x 100.5 x 69.5mm, the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z5/Z6/Z7/Z6 II/Z7 II would not fit on the Z6 III. A compatible cage would be the SmallRig Camera Cage for Nikon Z6 III, BH #SM4519.

[4.555 lb] I can leave the Sunwayfoto PNL-Z6 L-Bracket for Nikon Z6 and Z7 on the camera for use with of F-mount and Z-mount lenses. combined with the Kirk BL-FTZ L-Bracket I can change lenses quickly and efficiently.

[10.7 x 9 x 7.4"] Got this cage (with the Scorpio handle) for my Z6II. I had done extensive research before choosing this one. After seeing images of the SmallRig option (where one of the screws went into the strap holder) I decided to go with the 8Sinn (I have the strap loops on my camera where I can remove the straps only).

This cage fits perfectly. It is sturdy, stable, very well made. The handle goes on well. The screws just fit, and there is no need to struggle setting anything up. You can configure the cold shoe options as you wish, or later, add extra features to it. I like this one better. I would totally recommend buying this product.

The company is based in Poland, in case you wonder why does it take longer to order these.

[33' / 10 m] The overall price and quality is outstanding. I have been using Sunwayfoto brackets since day one and can't complain about anything.

[33' / 10 m] In case you haven't noticed, modern digital cameras are really sophisticated computers. I think I'm reasonably intelligent, but trying to figure out the options for even one aspect of the Nikon Z7ii or the Z6ii, autofocus for instance, is not intuitive for me and more complex than with my DSLR's. I have read three of Darrell Young's previous Mastering the Nikon.... books including the D750; the D850 and the Z6. These books are far more informative, in my opinion, than the User Manuals that you get with modern cameras. I sold my Z6ii after a year of use, trading it for a Z7ii about a month ago. I'm only 100 pages into reading this new book which includes much of the Z6 book but also includes the detail differences of the Z7ii and takes into consideration the firmware updates/improvements that have occurred since the Z6 book was published (first edition November, 2019). I also find that I have benefitted in that previous read and continue to discover nuances with the Z7ii thanks to Mr. Young's thorough explanations. Thanks to reading his books, I find that the Z7ii is far more enjoyable to use and believe that I am utilizing more of its capabilities. Highly recommended!!

[33' / 10 m] Very nice workmanship. Fits perfectly, but only if you follow the visual instructions on the B and H page. I thought I was losing my mind until I did this.

[10.7 x 9 x 7.4"] Using this on my Z6ii and it fits like a glove. No wiggle, snug and sturdy. Plenty of options to attach with this. My primary use is camera protection, but very easy to attach whatever I may need on it. Very happy with this purchase. Very light as well. I would recommend this Rig.

[33' / 10 m] I bought the original version of the z6ii cage but felt compelled to update to the new cage primarily for having the QD hole on the bottom. I do a lot of event and construction photography so carry dual bodies a lot. I feel the qd is a much more secure system than the peak design system I was using. Also the arca mount on the bottom is a huge plus

[4.555 lb] Fits perfectly. Really useful. Light and doesn't add a lot (weight and space) to the camera.

[10.7 x 9 x 7.4"] I bought this housing for my Nikon Z6ii to replace the one I still have for Nikon D7000 series. The housing pretty much has the same quality but the new back cover with the locking system is much better than the previous system. It feels safer, hard to open in case some accident happens. The controls are good, just need to get used to it. Also the pistol grip connector under the housing is very practical when using the pistol grip. I can still use my old ports but not the old pistol grip. The orange color stands out among the crowded line up.
