Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. When camera/coupler/Tether Tool is operating, suggestions of how to keep battery drain from exceeding the simultaneous charging? I have found it will not do both at the same time. Thanks.

A: It works for me. Keep in mind you have to use a power bank or charger that outputs at least 2 amps (the one i use is 2.1 amps). I tried with a power bank that only outputs 1 amp initially and that gave me the same problem as you have.

Q: 2. Do I need to buy a Coupler to connect my EOS R5 to the AC wall power? Or just can do it throughout the USB-C included?

A: No, the Tether Tools ONsite Relay C Camera Power System only work with a coupler. This is the coupler for the R5, https://bhpho.to/3GNG1xc .

Q: 3. I have the Panasonic DMW-DCC12 and an Anker PowerCore 13000. Will this work with those two items to power my GH5? Can you tell me how long I could shoot video with the GH5 with that battery and the Case Relay?

A: I have two of these that I run on GH5 and GH5s's using the Anker 13,000mah pack. I have only tested it with the Tether Tools adapter, but it sounds like it should work with the Panasonic adapter equally from what I read. I actually ran full tests just this week. On the GH5s at 4K/30p/100mbps with the display screen open/on, I shut it off when the Case Relay was red but still running at 7 hours and 50 minutes! I also tried on the GH5 and was getting around 7 hours or so. I ran the GH5 with the Panasonic XLR adapter and two SM81 mic's on phantom power and it ran for 6 1/2 hours continuous.

Q: 4. Does this Case Relay include the CRUPS110 adapters including the Nikon 4 pin adapter?

A: The $99.99 price includes only the power system. You can select the correct adapter for your camera, and the package will include it at additional cost.

Q: 5. Will this work to power my Canon R5 to replace the LP-E6NH battery?

A: The Tether Tools ONsite Relay Camera Power System Kit with Coupler for Canon Cameras with LP-E6 Battery can replace the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera's battery. This will allow you to power the camera with a USB battery pack.

Q: 6. Can I connect this directly to the DC port on the Atomos Ninja Assassin?

A: The Atomos Ninja Assassin supports NP-F series batteries. So if you use this in combination with the Relay Coupler #CRCNPF. I don't see this coupler in B&H's stock but you could ask them to carry it.

Q: 7. I bought this product and used it 5 or 6 times on an A7s and connected it to a Vlock battery with a 2.1 Amp USB port. When using the A7s the battery inside the case relay runs down and eventually the camera shuts off. In other words, it doesn't work for me. But if I turn the camera off the Vlock charges the Case Relay battery. It would appear the camera uses power quicker than the Vlock battery can charge the Case Relay battery. My question is am I doing it wrong? What can I do to make it work like it is advertised?

A: This is a quirk - you have to unplug the power pack from the relay and replug. The relay will indicate it is charging. If this fails, unplug from the dummy and replug. It will catch and function properly from then on. Not intuitive.

Q: 8. Will it work on my Canon 5DSR? And how long is the wire/cable if I will connect from camera to power outlet?

A: Yes. The Tether Tools ONsite Relay Camera Power System Kit with Coupler for Canon Cameras with LP-E6 Battery is compatible with the Canon 5DSR camera and the cable is about 40 inches long.

Q: 9. is there a coupler / dummy battery connection for Sony NPFZ100 batteries? specifically, i want to use with my sony a9 and a7iii. thanks!

A: Yes there is. BH #TECRNPFZ100 is the Tether Tools Relay Camera Coupler for Sony Cameras with NP-FZ100 Battery. You would just need the Tether Tools Case Relay Camera Power System to go along with it, BH #TECRUPS110. Coupler - https://bhpho.to/2w08C3u Relay Camera Power System - https://bhpho.to/3c7sths

Q: 10. Does this come with the AC adapter?

A: No, the Case Relay Power System does not come with an AC adapter.

[8 VDC / 3A] Those small batteries in the Panasonic G85 cause nervousness, high blood pressure and panic attacks when you are recoding an extended presentation. Will the small battery die before the presentation is over? Now I can supply power to camera from a high capacity USB battery pack or AC.

[10.5 oz / 299 g] Needed to set up a D500 so a presenter could record 2 half hour presentations a day for 2 weeks without me being there. We did a couple of dry runs and I realized I didn't want the be swapping batteries every day. That required 4 of my 7 EN-EL15 batteries, 2 in the body-grip and 2 charging, plus me stopping by every day and the chance of accidently changing focus or framing. Nikon was out of stock for their AC adapter and I really didn't want to put a $25 power supply in my camera unattended for 2 weeks. Found this from Tether Tools and decided it was what I wanted. Worked great, used a 3 amp USB charger to power it up and just left it. Checked it when I swapped drives in the recorder but never did anything to it, worked great. I did gaff tape the connection to the battery adapter just in case, something better than a barrel connector would be nice since if it got yanked on everything would stop.

[10.5 oz / 299 g] I've just purchased a second Case Relay system as it is so good. I highly recommend this system as a rock solid way of powerering cameras for endless hours. I've recorded non stop 4K 100Mbps on my GH5 for over 10 hours and including in over 30 degrees C heat, and this system works perfectly. I've done this dozens of times and it always works. The camera sometimes shows full battery and sometimes shows 2 of 3 bars but never below that. I've used several power banks and two different phone chargers to power it, and hot swapping worked perfectly. Only one small cheap power bank refused to power it, but I wasn't surprised or disappointed. In between shoots I will sometimes power up the camera for a few minutes without providing a power source, and the internal battery in the Case Relay copes with the load and it doesn't lead to any bad consequences during the next day of shooting. If you do time lapse or long videos or just don't want the hassle of switching out batteries, I highly recommend this amazing gadget!

[0.51 lb] Using a RavPower 28600 mAh battery pack I've been able to power my GH5 camera recording 4K 10-bit video for 12.5 hours. My GH5 got fairly warm, but everything worked flawlessly.

I may use this system to power the new Blackmagic Pocket Cine Camera 4K by adding a $35 Canon LP-E6 battery adapter to my kit.
