Q: 1. It looks like the ASFT 100 and the ASSF 80 will both fit my telescope. The Baader film is the same in both filters. What am I getting in the ASFT 100 that warrants spending the extra $10?

A: A larger metal ring. A larger film area.

Q: 2. Why are there two Herschel wedges, photo and visual?? why can't one wedge be used for both with some adjustments?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Cool-Ceramic Safety Herschel Solar Photographic Prism Mark II includes all the items in the visual version with the addition of 1.8, 0.9, and 0.6 neutral density filters. Aside for the extra filters, the other components are exactly the same.

Q: 3. Can you control the Fstop setting remotely?

Q: 5. Is it 7mm or 10mm optical length?

A: Optical Path Length: 0.35-0.94" / 9.0-24.0 mm.

Q: 6. Skywatcher Evoster 100 ED. Would this size fit my telescope?

A: Yes this Filter will work with that Model.

Q: 7. does this camera require shielded CAT6 or higher?

A: You will need to use Cat 5e or higher rated cables. Using Shielded cable will be a good idea for installation purposes, but not necessary.

Q: 8. Can this camera be controlled Via RS-422 using the older Sony RM-BR300 remote control unit?

A: Hi Kevin, Yes The BRC-X1000/1 does support the VISCA RS-422 protocal BUT connection is through an RJ-45 jack. The RM-BR300 comes with a 9-pin phoenix connector but you will have to make your own cables (page 12 & 22 of the operation manual: https://pro.sony/s3/cms-static-content/operation-manual/3854213171.pdf). -Jen

Q: 9. Is there any sample footage available online?

A: We do not have any sample video on our site. However, a Google search for Sony BRC-X1000 video sample reveals links regarding the camera. We cannot vouch for these independent videos however.

Q: 10. Does it work with RCP 1000?

A: The RCP-1000 is not listed by Sony as compatible with the Sony BCRX1000. They recommend the RCP1500 https://bhpho.to/3Eodr3Z

Very nice. Could use one more thread though. Seems a little short on threading when trying to attach and remove while making lens changes in the dark. Makes me a little nervous sometimes that I will drop it during removal from the lens. Good quality though and I like having it around.

I have filters for both astrophotography and photometry. Getting a second carousel for my filter wheel was a good economic solution. It would be great if this came with a protective case.

They work quite well; no halos or any undesirable behavior which I could notice as of now. They did require an increase in exposure time, but that's expected.

One of the best items I've purchased for my 140mm telescope.
The reduction in sky glow and the contrast improvement add to those Oh, Wow! moments of star gazing.

Baader makes some great lenses and filters, I have yet to be disappointed and this one is no different.

I live in heavily light polluted skies, yet I can go out in the backyard and look up at the billowing clouds of the milky way. I can actually see meteorite showers when they are happening. This is all possible by using this filter in conjunction with a Gen3 night vision device. This filter blocks out all light below 685nm which is basically all the man made light pollution leaving mostly celestial light for your enjoyment. This does cut out hydrogen alpha light, so you will not be seeing nebulae with this, but a separate band pass filter is used for that purpose.
