Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this light come with a carrying case or bag?

A: These do not come with a case or bag.

Q: 2. Recommend a padded case that will fit two of these units + ac adapters?

A: A case such as the American DJ Accu-Case F4 Par Bag, B&H # AMF4PARBAG would be a suitable option. https://bhpho.to/2ZnHmJ6

Q: 3. Is it possible to turn off the warning sound the light makes? It beeps loudly when the battery is low.

A: Sorry for the delay in answering this, If you hold down the C & D buttons for 5 seconds on the remote it should remove the beeping sound.

Q: 4. What is the output of this fixture?

A: The following unit offers 180 watts.

Q: 5. Hi, what would be the best mobile V mount battery for the LB10? I am trying to find a battery with an LCD screen. Is the Rolux RLC-130S (130Wh) any good?

A: Unfortunately, B&H is not an authorized Rolux dealer, and we do not carry Rolux batteries or accessories such as the Rolux RLC-130S V-Mount Battery w/ LCD Display. As such, I am unfamiliar with this particular brand battery. If you are looking for a similar V-mount battery option with an LCD screen, I would then recommend either the Anton Bauer CINE 150 VM Battery, B&H # ANC150VM, the CAMLAST 140Wh 14.8V V-Mount Battery with LCD Display for Professional Camcorders & VTRs , B&H # CACMBB140VD, the Core SWX HyperCore 150Wh 14.8V V-Mount Battery, B&H # COHYPRCR150S, or the ikan V-Mount 14.8V Battery with LCD Display, B&H # IKIBLD295S.

Q: 6. How many lumens is this light? I am trying to compare it to Arri Skypanel s-30, which is equal to a 1000w tungsten.

A: This light is 110w the S30 is a 200w LED. The Arri has about double the output. The Astra has 131 Lux vs Arii at 217 Lux at 15'. Neither light has a lumen rating.

Q: 7. Do these lights come with batteries? How are they charged?

A: Annie, no, these lights do not come with batteries.

Q: 8. I asked the question about the light not turning on. THank you for your responses, not helpful yet. When I turn on the light, there's a surging sound when i stand close to it. Like it's struggling to power up. Any thoughts?

A: I would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for trouble shooting. Please see the contact information below. Telephone: (800) 541-1667 E-mail: servicesupport@vitecgroup.com

Q: 9. Is the bag the same as the 3-piece kit - can it house three lights as I already have an Ikan 508 light I would also like to carry in it? Cheers, Marc

A: Marc, It's going to be too much equipment to all fit in one bag. Sorry.

Q: 10. Can this be put on a Sony a6000

A: It could be attached, but you would not want to put this big of a light on the hotshoe there is the potential for damage.

[Proprietary] I'm a big fan of LEDs - and this one is up there on my list. Very solid build, great output, and always reliable. Haven't had any issues.

[500 W ] I own or have owned every light known to man. (ok, slight exaggeration). I currently have the Gemini Soft, Gemini Hard. and Kino Freestyle LEDs of a variety of sizes. Never mind Apurtures and Nanlites plus a few of them lightweight flexible led panels. But when I need a fast and simple setup, I always got back to these Astra Softs. And when I look at the image, I wonder why I went and bought all those other expensive fixtures. Just today I shot a multicamera interview for ABC's new show Impact with the U.S Attorney investigating the Matthew Perry case and because going thru security was so complicated and time was of essence, I chose to bring these lights instead. I loved the picture to much I wondered to myself why I keep buying these way more expensive fancy lights. And the beauty of these is that I can fly them with a micro 150 battery and because I rarely have to turn them up all the way, they will last the length of some of these long interviews no problem. I did notice on this thread some folks complaining about these lights failing them, and have heard similar complaints from other Astras too. I have never had any issues with these or my other Astras, but that's likely because I read the instructions that clearly state you should dim the lights all the way down before you turn them on, wait until the flashing green light stops flashing, and then dim up at your heart's desire. And always before I turn them off, I dim them down all the way, as not to forget. That might be the secret. I see people using them wrong all over the place.

[2700 to 7500K] What an amazing set of lights. Great color ,96 cri. I'm so happy I got the kit as the carry case is super useful and the air cushion light stands are great. I'm super happy with these led's . You will be too.

[2700 to 7500K] I bought two Ikan’s and satisfied with their performance purchased another three. It’s a really nice lightweight soft light and the reflective barn doors seem to help that. I’m using them in a small church stage setting for video and they do the job well. I initially chose them because they had DMX capability so as to fit in with the rest of our DMX lighting rig.I needed a soflight that was colour temp accurate and lightweight and not too pricey. My only issue was a dodgy power unit which arrived that way. It was duly replaced by Ikan. So far, they’re great.

[500 W ] Just got a pair of these, so not a lot of use yet. I plan to use them for interview key lights. Softer, wider and heavier than the ol' LitePanels. Plenty bright enough and no need for diffusion in tight spaces.

Build quality is excellent. Color looks great to my eye and because of the extended Kelvin range I expect that 32k and 56k are designed to be the sweet spots on the Planckian locus.

The combo mount has three threaded holes to fit various baby stands. Power supply has a sturdy V-mount bracket that securely clamps to the battery plate on the fixture. The yoke us super sturdy.

The barn doors are nice but fairly ineffective at shaping light especially on the sides since the beam is so soft. They'll work well at flagging light off a lens though.

Was hoping for an included case but this extremely well padded case works well. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1369906-REG/BI/1221/KBID/1557/

Not sure why they're called 140 when they use 160 watts.

[Proprietary] Had to make some political commercials this past election cycle and was looking for something portable and quick to deploy. I can get the three lights up on their stands and ready to go in about 10 minutes. I got one battery, (which are not cheap, ~$299, so I could move one light around (usually a background or kicker) independently of an output. The lights are simple, robust, and easy to use. The tripods they come with are solid as well. They have somewhat odd tops though, they arent screw in they are solid plastic nubs. This is fine but if you use them for other purposes you might not get the best fit if you throw a regular flash clamp system down on this thing. Otherwise these are pretty fantastic.

[Yes] One of my favorite lights I’ve ever used hands down. I used these to light up some scenes for a commercial we shot in a large mall that had daylight pouring into it. The output with both bi-color options were strong and consistent and we used the battery power option with both of the lights we had. We had to circulate batteries pretty often but nothing that impeded production where we had to stop just had to keep an eye on battery life but while we were switching through a lot of locations the batteries were extremely helpful.

[Fan] I needed lights that could put up with student (=rough) handling, and I wanted the following features: High CRI rating, already-soft light source, barn doors, bi-color, and dimmable.

What I got that put them in the 5-star zone is the remotes. Now I boom-arm-mounted top light -- and with students there are always safety concerns -- is easy for the students to adjust.
