With the power on play function activated, the BD-MP4K will automatically start playback after the power is turned on. Seamless playback of the previous content can be performed by combining the power on play and the repeat playback function (some media may not be supported). Combining the capability of power on/off control with remote control will allow for the structuring of an automatic playback system. Repeat can be performed by chapter, title, and A-B.

Panel lock as well as IR and tray lock functions are also available to prevent accidental or unwanted operation.

A unique Hide Menu function allows customization of the display monitor's boot up process. In this mode, the monitor display screen can be set to display a black screen during start up rather than displaying the manufacturer's standard factory setup screen and source select menus. This is also available when inserting discs.

SDXC slot on the front and USB port on the back to enable fixed or interchangeable usage of external media.

HDMI output for easy connection to monitor displays or switchers.

Professional-grade XLR balanced stereo analog outputs and RCA unbalanced stereo outputs.

Coaxial digital audio output accommodates professional-grade digital output formats, including Dolby and DTS. Playback of 2-channel linear PCM is also supported.

Analog outputs for 7.1 surround sound system.

Both RS-232C and gigabit Ethernet IP network connectivity are available for remote control.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this run on 100-240V Ac 50/60HZ? P9 says "do not connect a power supply other than 100V AC (50/60HZ)," P 53 says "power AC 100-240V (50/60 Hz)" and drawings (P26) and photos say 100-240V (50/60 Hz).

A: The BD-MP4K is rated for 100-240V 50/60 Hz. The AC power cable that is included has a standard plug for use in North America. The information in the manual on page 9 may be an error or it may be incomplete and warning not to use a power supply that is lower than 100V. But the information everywhere else in the manual and printed on the back of the unit is very clear.

Q: 2. Does it decode HDCD, SACDs?

A: No, the TASCAM BD-MP4K Professional-Grade 4K UHD Blu-ray Player (B&H # TABDMP4K) does not decode HDCD or SACD formats. Ideally, these formats would be decoded using a computer with a media player application that has this functionality.

Q: 3. Is there a fix for sound out of synch with video on TCL 4K TV? I have simplest HDMI connections set up.

A: Power down the TV and cable/satellite box. Unplug the HDMI cable. Then power up and re-insert the cable. Make sure that the “S/PDIF and ARC” is set to PCM-Stereo under TV’s setting - Audio Setting Try turning off and then turning on the TV and the sound bar. If you are streaming content, try changing to another streaming app/channels to see if audio delay will also occur. If you are watching through antenna, cable or satellite tv, try switching the channels to see if audio delay occurs on other channels. Try changing the source on the sound bar. If you are still experiencing lip-sync issue, we recommend updating the software on your TCL Sound Bar. Call TCL: Television 1-877-300-8837

Q: 4. Will the UB820 play DVD-DL (dual-layer) discs?

A: Yes, as others have said UHD discs are inherently dual layer. You shouldn't have an issues.

Q: 5. Will it support Dolby Atmos?

A: Yes, this unit supports Dolby TrueHD, which can contain Dolby Atmos information. If the Blu-ray disc contains Dolby Atmos information, when a Dolby TrueHD signal is sent, in bitstream mode, the receiver or processor should detect that it is actually a Dolby Atmos track and processes the sound accordingly.

Q: 6. Is this unit Bluetooth compatible with headphones?

A: This item offers no Bluetooth functionality.

Q: 7. They made a blu ray player this well and did not make it region free???

A: The closest region-free model that we currently offer from Panasonic is B&H # PADPUB9000E

Q: 8. Will this Tascam BD-MP4K Player play all Regions of DVD'S?

A: Yes. According to Tascam, you can play standard DVDs from all regions on the BD-MP4K.

Q: 9. netfix youtube pandora?

A: No no no: https://tascam.com/us/product/bd-mp4k/spec

Q: 10. Does Panasonic DP-UB820 support Dolby Atmos

A: Officially, Panasonic does not list it in their documentation or specifications. However, most any Blu-ray player that supports Dolby TrueHD and bitstreamed output should support Dolby Atmos. Dolby is wrapping up the Atmos "objects" (the height information) into a Dolby TrueHD wrapper that works with existing players and receivers. When you send that Dolby TrueHD soundtrack out over HDMI to a Dolby Atmos-capable receiver or processor in bitstream mode, the receiver or processor detects that it is actually a Dolby Atmos track and processes the sound accordingly.

[SD] Great up-scaling from 1080 to 4k. Sound is great. Not build nearly as well as the Oppo 203 or the Panasonic ub9000. But the video and audio quality is the same at a fraction on the cost.

[1x USB-A] I replaced Sony UBP-X800M2 4K UHD Blu-Ray Disc Player because the regular DVDs were not sharp. blu ray and 4K were perfect. Also 1 in 30 movies would just lock up the player requiring a power reset.
NOW 4K and regular blu rays are great. Also regualr DVDs are great. Sometimes it fils my 4k tv and sometimes the are black boxed on 4 sides. They always look much better then the sony. Happy Happy

[>96 dB] The TASCAM BD-MP4K is an outstanding, excellent blu-ray player. Sharp, vivid images, spectacular color reproduction, excellent audio (but does not play SACD's). Very easy to set up. I had a problem with audio set-up, not realizing that, if you disable variable output, the player does not then default to a pre-set output level. Oh, well, that was my fault -- not the fault of the player.

One really good feature: IT HAS A DISPLAY PANEL (remember those? Apparently Samsung, Sony, LG and the rest of the player manufacturers [assuming there are any] seem to have forgotten about display panels.) Display panels are really great - chapter number, track number, elapsed time. Display panels are definitely necessary for playing CD's. Without the display panel, you have no earthly idea where you are on the CD.

Also, the player has analogue audio outputs. Something very few, if any, blu-ray players have these days.

Excellent video and audio, display panel, analogue audio outputs, solid build--not cheap. lightweight and flimsy. The TASCAM has it all!

There are really no faults to find with the TASCAM player. It's outstanding. Well, worth the money.

[30 W] Incredible value at Black Friday pricing. Main menu UI is outdated but as a player it works very well. HDR optimizer is great, but didn’t seem to be enabled by default. I encourage new owners to go through their settings properly.

There is only one issue which is that it’s way, way too easy to accidentally press the Netflix button on the remote when navigating menus, interrupting playback and taking ages to load, and then even longer to get back to the movie.

If only the player was able to re-encode DTS to Dolby, it would be perfect, as many popular soundbars don’t support DTS at all. Notably you can choose to output DTS as PCM, but even 5.1ch DTS-HD seems to be output as 2ch PCM (at least with my gear), which is a bit of a downgrade.

[1x USB-A] This is a great 4k UHD Blu-ray player that I highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their home media experience over streaming. This is a very well made player, easy interface to use but one that also allows you to really dive into settings and adjustments.

I have always enjoyed watching movies at home, and over the past year of having to stay home and unable to visit theaters I was wanting a better viewing experience over streaming. With a dedicated player such as this one, you take a big step above streaming regarding video and audio quality. I look forward to watching movies on this player each movie night!
