The 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Canon EF-M Mount from Samyang is a manual focus wide-angle prime lens compatible with APS-C format mirrorless digital cameras. It provides an 83.1° angle of view which translates into a 35mm format equivalency of 25.6mm. A fast maximum aperture of f/2.0 is effective in low light shooting and provides shallow depth of field. With two aspherical lens elements and one extra-low dispersion element, chromatic aberrations are minimized and sharp, color-accurate images are the result. UMC lens coating facilitates even light transmission and reduces ghosting and flares.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this Samyang lens for Pentax mount have infinity focus on the left, as for other Pentax lenses?(the picture shows infinity on the right, but it says Alternate Mount Shown')Thanks,Ben

A: Infinity focus will be on the left side of the lens.

Q: 2. Looks obvious but Id rather to ask than make a mistake: Does it mount on Full Frame camera? (Nikon D750) Thank you!

A: It mounts and it works, but because it is designed for the smaller DX-sensor cameras, it will vignette -- a lot -- in FX mode. If you shoot your D750 in DX mode, it will work just fine, but all things being equal, you would be better off using a 24 mm f/2.8 (or faster) lens in FX mode.

Q: 3. Will this lens work for a Canon Rebel T6i?

A: Yes, this lens will work on the t6i without issue.

Q: 4. Does this lens change length when focusing or is it internal focus?

A: No, this lens does not change length when focusing; it is internal-focus. Strongly recommended lens, gives the Zeiss 135mm APO-Sonnar a run for its money.

Q: 5. Can this lens be used with the FTZ convert on a Nikon Z6 ?

A: All you would need for to use this lens is the Nikon FTZ adapter.

Q: 6. Are the both Samyang 85mm and the 135mm will work fine with Nikon D5500?

A: Yes, both the Samyang 85mm and 135mm lenses for Nikon F mount will be compatible with the Nikon D5500.

Q: 7. Is this weather seal ?

A: Unfortunately, no, the Samyang 135mm f/2.0 ED UMC Lens for the Nikon F-mount with the AE Chip is not a weather-sealed lens.

Q: 8. Does this lens have a lock focus funtion? I'm planning to use it for astrophotography, so keep the lens focused is critical...

A: Since this lens is manual focus lens technically the focus will not change as long as you don't rotate the focus ring, but there is no locking mechanism to hold the ring in place.

Q: 9. Can I use a diffusion filter with this lens?

A: You can use any 77mm sized filter on this lens.

Q: 10. Can this lens be used on an EF-S mount without an adapter?

A: Same mount, one is a crop and one is full frame. You'll have to take in account the 1.6x drop factor.

[77 mm (Front)] Love this lens for landscape photography. Fun to use and quick. A bit heavy but definitely worth it

[Canon EF-M] I use this on my canon 70d for landscape and night pictures and I am very happy with the purchase of this lens. Landscape pictures come out beautiful but this lens shines when used for night & astrophotography! Well worth the investment!

[Canon EF-M] Shoots very clean and sharp images from corner to corner. A very good buy for the money. Initially, I was not sure about this lens upon recieving it. I couln't seem to get accurate focus regardless of proper manual focus technique. Turns out, my photo review software in the computer was the problem. Once I viewed the images in other software, the images were very crisp and impressive. Well worth the buy.

[APS-C] There has been a lot of talk about a lack of wide-angle (16-18mm) primes for APS-C. It seems all the wide-angle lenses for APS are zooms, and most are F/3.5 or slower. This is my fourth Samyang lens. Samyang produces lenses that have exceptional optics (if you can get a good copy), but are much cheaper than the big name-brands, albeit with manual focus only. However, this lens is unique. Nobody else makes wide angle primes for APS. What really surprised me were the optics wide open. At F/2, there is almost no chromatic aberration (other than easily corrected lateral CA that all wide-angles seem to have). All my other fast glass (F/2 or faster) have lots of longitudinal chromatic aberration that degrades the view, especially in the out-of-focus areas. This lens is almost completely free of this aberration. There are few lenses I have used that are F/2 and faster where F/2 is almost as good as F/5.6. This is one of them. The edges aren't perfect at F/2, but the next fastest 16mm lens is the Tokina 11-16mm, after that, they're all F/3.5 or slower. I used to own the Tokina 11-16mm, and it had significant field curvature at 16mm that this lens lacks. Optically, this lens is better at F/2 than the Tokina was at F/4. Great lens, but a specialized item. One of the best F/2 or faster lenses I've used. For those who care about full-frame equivalency, this will yield photos similar to a 24mm F/2.8 on full-frame.

[f/2] I use the lens for landscape photography, including panoramic photos. The images I have taken have been very good, although I have not done any quantitative measurements. Manual operation has not been a problem for my applications. Construction seem to be very good, with a good feel. I have not found any problems with the lens during my use.

[Manual Focus] An excellent lens, with great image quality. Very sharp at the widest aperture, which is a huge pro, comparing to other wide-angle lenses. The manual focusing brings a lot of challenges to the autofocus accustomed users; it was indeed a challenge to me, especially focusing at infinity; but with a little practice I managed to nail it. The only con I found was that the lens is very tough to attach. However, this doesn't affect in any way the image quality, so I give this lens 5 stars.

[Manual Focus] I've had this lens for over 6 months and it provides great image quality even wide open, stopping down to 2.8 or 4 is ideal. It is fast enough to be useful in almost any lighting situation, and the focal length is as close enough to a 35mm(On MFT) to be just about right for you wide angle applications. The price makes it ideal for the independent filmmaker. The build quality is also fantastic. I flubbed up once and dropped it from a messenger bag at my waist and the thing just bounced away without a scratch. I just wish I got the cine version so I don't have to bother with follow focus adapters.

[f/22] What do I have to say... I love that lens! I've had it for about a year now, and it's a great lens. It's very sharp, even at f/2 (the corners get sharper as you stop down, but even at f/2, they're pretty good!), it's well built, it feels nice and solid, the focus ring dampening is really good. There's some vignetting, but it's nothing terrible, and the distortion isn't bad either. You have to watch out for flare, thought. If you're using it for night photography, it can be worth bringing black cardboard and tape to make a bigger lens hood. In most situations the provided lens hood is enough, but if you're doing a long exposure, or star trails, over time, the rays of light coming from street lights and lit signs can kinda cumulate and show in the final result, so be mindful of that. Besides that, I think it's a really good lens. Not for those who need small a small lens with AF, but if you need optical and build quality, the Samyang/Rokinon 16mm f/2 is a lens of choice.

[APS-C] I bought this lens mainly for night sky photography- and it's doing an amazing job! Even at f2 the center is incredible sharp (but the edges are a bit blurry) and it great to photograp the Milkyway. I also use it for landscape photos during the day at f5.6-11.... it's extremly sharp (even the edges are incredible sharp). Overall- if you don't want to spend $1000+ this is probably one of the best fast APSC Wide Angle lenses. I can recommend it to everybody who is intrested in a good wide angle lens and doesn't want to spend too much money!
