Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the weight and texture of this paper?

A: The weight of the Canson Infinity ARCHES 88 is 310gsm (Grams per Square Meter). The paper is made out of 100% cotton. The surface feel is matte and finish is extra smooth.

Q: 2. Is the paper grain parallel to the short side or the long side?

A: Canson Infinity Rag Photographique Duo 220gsm, is grain short (grain direction is aligned with the shortest dimension of the sheet) to facilitate potentially folding pages when presented horizontally.

Q: 3. Will this paper work with my Canon pro 10 printer and on my Epson 3800?

A: Yes, this Canson Infinity Baryta Prestige II Glossy Paper is compatible with the Canon pro 10 and Epson 3800 printers.

Q: 4. How is Canson Infinity Photographique II different from its predecessor Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique?

A: The Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II is slightly thinner than the original (11.9 vs 12.2mil) but other than that they are the same.

Q: 5. can I use this in my laser printer?

A: It is not recommended for laser printers, nor made for them. It will work with both dye and pigment inks on an inkjet printer

Q: 6. Has anyone been able to compare prints on these papers with the glossy/satin versions?

A: For photos that are going to be moved around, matte will be better. Not only is it less sensitive when it comes to fingerprints, it's also more resistant to light and doesn't create any reflection. Images with dark tones will have much more contrast.

Q: 7. Can anyone venture to guess what toning was used for the image on the package of Bergger Prestige Variable CM Semi-Matte?

A: It is a sepia tone image. I would recommend this Photographer's Formulary toner: https://bhpho.to/3BGm6AR

Q: 8. I was wondering if this paper is short grain or long grain.

A: The Canson Infinity Rag Photographique Duo Paper is short grain.

Q: 9. I would use this paper with an Epson printer. I understand that I should use the matte black instead of the photo black pigment ink. Is that correct?

A: To use an Epson printer with this Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets), follow the steps on Canson's ICC Profiles & printer color calibration settings: https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/icc-profiles?fp=2941

Q: 10. Is this an inkjet paper?

A: Yes this is an inkjet paper but meant for higher end inkjet that handle fine art papers.

[96%] I love this paper, but when compared head to head with their Platine Fibre Rag, it comes in second IMO. It is a less expensive paper comparably, and so is an excellent option if you don't want to spend the money on the Platine. Platine has a slight edge in dynamic range due to a slightly brighter base and a lovely luster like surface that is unparalleled IMO.

[3.04 lb] I like the weight and stiffness of the paper. Monochrome and color images have extreme sharpness and fidelity of color and contrast. The back can be signed in pencil which I prefer. Wilhelm Institute has tested the archival quality of this paper for fading and it has one of the longest longevity of all papers.

[Matte] I've been using this for several years on a recommendation from someone in the paper department. It's a great all-round paper that works for pretty much everything.

[96%] This is as close as I've come to darkroom fibre-based papers. Nice contrast, the inks get a good grip on the surface, and the final look is terrific. Good price, too, so I also bought the 50' roll.

[Yes] I've always printed on cotton rag mat paper mostly because I did not want to swap out matte black and photo black inks on my printer. I've since purchased a printer with both matte and photo black inks My latest work is abstract and vibrant in color. The mat papers just don't work for these images. The Canson Baryta Photographique II paper gives me the colors and detail that I want. The surface is not glossy but satin and the Canson printer profiles are right on!

[Yes] I've been super impressed so far with this paper. I bought an A3 pack of this and Hahnemuhle's Photo Rag Matt Baryta to compare. I like the look of the Canson better than the Hahnemuhle but do concede that the Hahnemuhle seems to be a little more durable. Obviously if you need paper without OBA content the Canson is not the way to go but considering the price and that so many of us don't need the print to last 200 years, I'm blown away by the Canson Baryta Matte. Also surprised that it doesn't get a lot of talk. I've used it for both Black and White and color. It holds an incredible amount of detail and the complete lack of any type of glare is fantastic for viewing.
