The brown DPA 4466 CORE Omnidirectional Headset Microphoneis a lightweight omnidirectional headset microphone with an advanced, fully adjustable, stainless steel headset mechanism. The visually discreet, dual-ear design offers a very comfortable wearing experience for presenters and performers while providing broadcast-quality sound up to the demanding standards of theater, TV, and live event professionals.

The 4466 fits the wearer by using 3-point ear grips with spring mechanisms that grip comfortably above and below the ears and to the side of the head for added security. The 2-way adjustable boom system—length and height—features an anti-rotate mechanism that makes it easy to position the tiny 5mm mic capsule for optimal sound quality. A sliding lock mechanism secures the boom positioning. In addition, the 90° cable management system safeguards the cable from stress and directs it down the wearer's back, where it can't be seen.

DPA's CORE technology is at the heart of the electret-condenser capsule, providing an ultralow noise floor and wide dynamic range. With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters to deliver clean, transparent, and reliable sound for critical performances and presentations.

The 4466 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless microphone transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector. This version includes a locking 3.5mm adapter for use with wireless transmitters and recorders wired for Sennheiser compatibility. A foam windscreen and carrying case are also included.

A: No, the Shure SM31FH Fitness Headset Condenser Microphone is only available with a TA4F (4-pin mini-XLR female) connector. However, you can use the Shure RK100PK Radio Frequency Interference Resistant Preamplifier (B&H # SHRK100PK) which will allow you to connect to a standard 3-pin XLR input and use phantom power.

Q: 10. We cannot get this to work on our Mac laptop. They can hear us but we can't hear them once it's plugged in...?

[Omnidirectional] Difficult to talk about DPA products because they are all of excellent quality. In the specific case of the DPA4099V model for violins, you will get an excellent timbre, ease of use and you can count on the brand's reliability. 5

[Omnidirectional] I owned DPA 4099, AMT and many other mic. But this is the best sounding, so light that you don't even feel that there is a mic attached to your instrument. Strongly recommend it! 5

[Plug-In Power] These mics are some of the most natural sounding microphones I've heard. They have a super flat frequency response - the flattest of any consumer or professional mic I've seen, except for measuring microphones. The tiny diameter of the mic (about 1/4 in) makes for excellent off-axis high end response. It's difficult to hear much difference in sound quality, whether you're on axis, or 90 deg off axis to the mic. This should make them great for small venues up close with no proximity effect, or for large auditoriums at further distances to the sound source. Of-course, the downside is the relatively high noise level - 23 dBA. I've played around with these mics in a living room environment and a smaller bedroom set up as a sound room, recording music from loudspeakers. So far, I've not noticed the noise level, or at least it hasn't become apparent above the room noise, which was relatively quiet. Recording music from my ESS Hiel Tower loudspeakers equalized for flat response over the range of my one octave analyser (31.5 Hz - 16 KHz), they sounded absolutely phenomenal. Deep, rich, clean bass up through the smooth highs, these mics are great. I look forward to recording some live music with them. 5

[Omnidirectional] This mic will pretty much blow your mind with how clean it records. The brass instrument clip isn't that great. It wouldn't stay secured on the trumpet I mounted it on. Plus, certain mutes will prevent it from mounting entirely. I'm sure the clip is very instrument dependent, so plan for backup mounting options. When in doubt, gaff tape. 5

[Brown] This is by far the cleanest sounding, extremely low noise omnidirectional mic I've owned. I absolutely love listening to the results of my recordings as I always get beautiful results. Also, they very require very little to no audio editing/treatment before I render my tracks. As of now I've owned the 2006c(stereo pair)for 4 months and I have no complaints thus far. 5
