Q: 5. can i upgrade my bulbs to 220v on these units?

A: These lights can accept bulbs for use in a 220v environment which can be purchased separately. For the 650 Fresnel, you can use the Sylvania/Osram FRL (650W/230V). The 300 Fresnel can use the GE FSL Lamp (300W/230V). Lastly, the 150 Fresnel can use the Ushio JCV Lamp (200W/230V). Please see the images below for reference.

Q: 6. How does this light not flood to spot? Every mole richardson fresnel they have ever made flooded to spot. Product fail.

A: It's not a fresnel, it's the equivalent of a par can. It's well built, color tuneable, dimmable and 900 dollars. Its the equivalent of a 650 watt tungsten fixture. Considering it's back ordered, I would have to say that this product is actually a big hit.

A: Hello, yes it's about the equivalent to a 1000 watt tungsten, but without the heat. You can run it all day and it stays cool and only draws a few amps. Maybe 2 or 3 amps, very little. Amazing light. I have the entire set of daylights and couldn't be more pleased. I use them for stills and motion. I am waiting on the 5K which will be out in August. I love the fact that you can dim them as well, very useful.

Q: 9. is there a fan in this unit?

A: The light uses a passive cooling system. No fan.

Q: 10. Are these lights dimmable with a separate dimmer?

A: Yes, these lights are dimmable with a separate inline dimmer and switch, but make sure you use a good dimmer to get the best dimming. There are a couple $40-$100 that are pretty great.
