Whereas the original Wireless GO employed a single channel, version II is a dual-channel system, capable of handling two transmitters at the same time for simple, two-person shoots with low latency (3.5 to 4 ms).

Use the Rode Central companion app (Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android compatible) to unlock powerful features and device customization—onboard transmitter recording, configurable safety track recording in dual mono mode, file playback and export, and more.

Via the app, each transmitter provides an onboard audio recorder offering up to seven hours of uncompressed recording (24-bit / 48 kHz WAV) or 24 hours of compressed recording, perfect for worry-free backup recording or a fast and easy way to capture sound from your subjects. Export files in various formats such as MP3 or WAV (16-, 24-, or 32-bit float) with date and time stamp information as well as automatic markers anywhere the transmitter-receiver link was broken.

Since the Wireless GO II can handle two transmitters at once, it features the ability to switch between stereo or dual-mono output modes. This enables each transmitter, and therefore each subject, to be recorded to a separate channel. Alternatively, signal from both transmitters can be mixed together and recorded identically to left and right channels. Use the app to activate safety track recording (-20 dB on the right channel).

In addition to the traditional 3.5mm TRS analog output, the Wireless GO II receiver has a USB Type-C digital audio output for operation as a 24-bit / 48 kHz audio interface. This can be connected to a computer with the supplied USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, to the Lightning port of an iOS mobile device via the Rode SC15 cable, or to the USB Type-C port of a laptop, iPad Pro, or Android mobile device with the Rode SC16 cable (SC15 and SC16 cables available separately).

The new Series IV technology extends the line-of-sight operating range of the Wireless GO II to approximately 656' compared to the 230' maximum range of the original Wireless GO. It also offers increased signal strength in crowded wireless environments. Plus, the system is designed to run both transmitters without affecting the range performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this unit capture 32 bit float?

A: Rode will publish something soon to shed some light about the Record vs. Export file formats and how it relates to 32 bit float export.

Q: 2. Are you able to mute the individual Transmitters via the Receiver or App?

A: Yes you can directly from the transmitter

Q: 3. Is there an adaptor available to convert a sennheiser lav with screw locking system to standard 3.5mm trs connection for use with this Rode Wireless GO II?

A: The RODE representative listed the "Sennheiser CL 35 TRS" Cable as a solution, but that has two Male ends so it would only work if you also bought an adapter that has 3.5mm Locking Female Receptacles on both ends. To accomplish the task with just one adapter, you would need a 3.5mm Locking Female Adapter to 3.5mm Male Non-Locking. There are a couple of these listed on Bay, but they look rather cheap. I have not found a professional quality solution.

Q: 4. How can the audio be saved? Is there a slot on the receiver for an sd card?

A: Its built in you have to use the app to retrieve the audio recorded

Q: 5. Original Go will work with Go2?

A: The original Rode Wireless Go and Wireless Go II systems use different technology and their components do not communicate with each other, so at this time, they can not be combined to use in the same system. This may be a possibility in the future if updates can be created that will enable compatibility between the older and brand new components. While the components can not be combined for use as one system, you can operate the original Wireless Go system (transmitter and receiver) and the Wireless Go II system (two transmitters and dual-channel receiver) at the same time. So if you need to mic three people, you can use both systems independently on the same set.

Q: 6. Wil it work with a Sennheiser ME 4 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector ? Will it provide voltage ?

A: The input on the Rode Wireless GO II transmitter is standard 3.5mm TRS non-locking connector. The transmitter will supply the appropriate voltage (plug-in power) that the mic requires to function. However, the Sennheiser ME 4 uses a 3.5mm TRS locking connector which may not attach properly to the transmitter since its input is not threaded like those on Sennheiser wireless transmitters and the mic's locking ring has no thread to lock onto.

Q: 7. Does the built-in recording capability of the Rode transmitter make a separate digital audio recorder (such as Zoom) unnecessary, at least for less frequent and demanding work?

A: While the recording capabilities of the Rode Wireless GO II 2-Person Compact Digital Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System/Recorder Kit make it a candidate for standalone use, whether it is implemented in this manner depends on the workflow of the user and the intended end result. One major caveat for a scenario where the transmitters in this system serve as the only recorder is that the audio cannot be monitored while recording. An external recorder would allow for audio monitoring as well as more fine tuning of the recording parameters. If pairing with video, recording the audio into the camera from the receiver's output would also help with video sync/editing, etc.

Q: 8. Can i save the internally recorded files to my mobile phone on the go or do I need computer to transfer thr files

A: You will need a computer.

Q: 9. Is this system expandable?

A: The Rode Wireless GO II Single 1-Person Compact Digital Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System/Recorder Kit comes with a single transmitter, but the Wireless GO II receiver does have two channels so it can be used with two transmitters. Rode does sell the Wireless GO II System with two transmitters, but at this time Rode does not offer the transmitter for purchase separately, so it is not possible to order a second transmitter and easily expand a system that was purchased with a single transmitter. For that reason it is best (and more economical) to purchase the system with two transmitters now if you will want to use it to record audio from two people. The other option is to purchase another complete Wireless GO II System later to accommodate a second person. The Rode Wireless GO II 2-Person Compact Digital Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System/Recorder Kit (B&H # ROWGIIK) is the same kit with two transmitters and two Rode Lavalier GO Microphones.

Q: 10. why are there so many questions beibg asked here?

A: BC it is a new product, at a reasonable price and expectations are high that the product will perform as well as the original Rode Wireless Go which is a single channel system.

[ +20 dB] For a beginner in needing/wanting a wireless system to record audio, this is the cat's meow! Super easy to use, very versatile and reliable. I like the fact it comes with two (2) transmitters, but the kit is more expensive because of this than the original version which only had one (1) transmitter.

Quick to setup and start recording. Basically turn on the transmitter(s) and receiver, plug the receiver into your DSLR camera and you have a quality audio recording system now for your video. Super easy to use and low-profile. Good battery life and units are rechargeable via USB-C connection.

For an on-the-go, low-profile and quick audio recording system for your podcasts, 1 or 2-person interviews and better than basic on-camera audio for your videos, this is a GREAT system.

[-20 dBV (Max)] Easy to use. So many failsafes. Clients can't break them like they tend to break my lav mics.

The only complaint I have is that they are unimaginably sensitive. I'm using the lowest possible setting (-30db) on the unit because at even -27db they pick up even the sound of the client's fingers rubbing against each other.

[Beltpack] I put the Rode Go II to work the first day I got them.. And they didn't disappoint! I used them under each basket while streaming a high school game! The worked perfect on every swish!

[ +20 dB] I hate the term game changes because it's used way too often, but this item truly is that.

The ability to have an internal recording, in the event of a dropout is what I have been waiting for, for 20 years!

Plus, TWO transmitters, this small form factor, twice the range of the original Wireless Go, and this price, is crazy.

There is nothing to think about. Just buy it.

[7 Hours] I own 1st version of this Rode Wireless and I film a lot to my Youtube Channel. But it was not enough for interview. Now there are totally new approach to it. Love it
- Record channel separately for each transmitter and as a result two channel for each person
- markers which you can match for perfect lip-sync with ability to put it manually
- backup channel with 20DB less level in case of recording in wind (my case)

Thank you for so professional system!

[3.5 to 4 ms] As a journalist, I do a lot of two personal interviews and often need to record video without a camera operator. This set-up, with the optional Lightning cable, plugs directly into an iPhone and works perfectly. Also works well with small audio recorders. The recording capability of the transmitters gives an extra level of security. Rode did an excellent job designing this system and I highly recommend it.

[2] I have been a hobbyist videographer for a long time, but recently I have been wanting to increase the quality of my videos. This system gives me a lot of flexibility and expands my options for using my old Rode video mic. Works great with a lav mic too, even though the mic on the transmitter is good enough to go without the lav. Overall this kit offers great value and will greatly improve the production quality of your video or audio work.

[WAV] I have had this system for two weeks now and it's everything I've ever wanted in a wireless setup and more. I feel like Rode really listened to their customers and delivered an affordable wireless mic system that is compatible with a variety of recording methods. The sound quality is crisp and clear and packs even more of a punch when you attach a lav to the transmitters.
