[99.1%] This paper is bright write. Contains NO OBA's. The surface is VERY smooth. Thickness is excellent, 310gsm, so the paper is very firm. I've used several rolls and never had an issue with it. For landscapes, I haven't or seen anything as nice as this paper, but I haven't tried them all. Clouds are white, not off white. Thanks Canson.

[99.1%] Over the last few months I have been on a quest to find an alternate paper that has excellent color rendition, a similar gamut, and very low or no OBA's as my primary fine art paper (Hahnemuhle Photo Rag). I also wanted a paper that was a little brighter than the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. I went through quite a few papers with no luck (and a lot of testing), until I ordered the Canson Infinity Arches Discovery Pack. Of the four different sample papers in the pack, I found the Arches 88 to be very close to what I was looking for. It's smoother than the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, but the Arches Aquarelle is way too textured for what I want. The colors are gorgeous, and I really like the brightness of the Arches 88. For anyone looking for a brighter version of Hahnemuhle Photo Rag with no OBA's, the Arches 88 is a great choice. Unfortunately it doesn't have the nice subtle texture like the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, but it's still an awesome paper. I saw some comments in another review that mentioned some quality issues with noticeable specs on the paper, and unfortunately I did see a little bit of that, but only on a couple of sheets in a box of 25. Over the years I've noticed some imperfections in all heavy weight cotton rag based papers (including Hahnemuhle Photo Rag), so I think that's just the way it is with heavy weight rag paper.

[8.425 lb] Arches 88 is an absolutely gorgeous paper. The surface is very smooth and virtually disappears from view. The color gamut is quite large for matte, and Dmax is exceptionally high with excellent retention of detail in the deepest shadows. It is probably the most neutral (i.e. white) non-OBA matte paper that I have ever seen. How Canson managed that trick is beyond my understanding.

I love printing on matte, especially B&W images. In recent years, Epson Legacy Fibre has been my choice amongst premium papers, but it will now be pushed into the second tier by Arches 88.

[Matte] This new paper from Canson is better than first reported. The quality is especially noticeable when creating B&W prints. Deep rich blacks when used with an Epson P600 printer. If you are looking for a better than average paper to make B&W matte prints this should be your choice. paper is archival, base is made by Arches, and I highly recommend it. B&H made sure the product reached me in excellent condition and it was delivered when promised.

[Cotton Rag] This is beautiful paper, with the brightest white I've found.
Highly recommended.

With its very smooth surface and neutral white color, the blacks are deep, rich, and clean. Colors are true and fully saturated, and every fine detail stands out with no distracting surface glare.
