The sunlite / white LiteDisc 41x74” Oval Reflector from Photoflex is designed to be durable and dependable. The SunLite surface will bounce direct sunlight or harsh studio light onto your subject without the blinding effect of the highly reflective mylar surfaces. It is the perfect counterpart to the SoftGold surface, as the SunLite surface is suitable for direct sun, where the more reflective SoftGold surface is suitable for open shade. The SunLite surface uses a silver/gold cross hatch design for just the right amount of warmth in harsh lighting conditions.

The matte warm white surface on the opposite side reflects direct sun where a less reflective surface is desired. It can be used in the studio to reflect soft light into the shadows.

The Oval reflector provides light coverage for full-length portraits. It folds to almost 1/3 its open size for easy storage and transportability. It stays flat to ensure a smooth, even reflection. Its metallic foil surface is double-laminated for longevity and maximum reflection. The double-riveted frame lets the LiteDisc stand up to tough abuse while maintaining its shape and flexibility.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the diameter of the folded bag when you put the reflector back in it?

A: There will be slight variance from reflector to reflector, but about 21 inches (just over 53cm) is right.

Q: 2. How do I attache the reflector?

A: Excellent question, because the attachment is somewhat flimsy. The two outer pieces( that protrude away from the ends of the main shaft) push against the reflector. You create a slight compression on the reflector by sliding the holders inward, then tightening the two knobs in the center of the shaft to maintain the compression. There is a little spring clip in the two holders that helps hold the reflector, but just barely. I've been able to make this work in a studio, but if anyone bumps it, or creates a breeze, the reflector will fall off. You cannot rotate the reflector without it falling off. This means one of the ends of the holder needs to be attached to the highest elevation part of the reflector and the other holder needs to be attached at the lowest elevation part of the reflector. There is a real opportunity for someone to design a better reflector holder - specifically the two pieces on the ends of the shaft. I own (and use) this one and a different brand with a different mechanism and they're both flimsy. This holder absolutely will not work outdoors.

Q: 3. How does this compare to Godox or Phottix? Is the light the same or is there a difference? Thank you.

A: There is a two sided Phottix 41x72 that has a zebra gold which is different but it does not have 5 surface options only two. B&H does not sell a Godox option in this size.

Q: 4. I just received my impact 5 in 1 reflector, I feel like it is too tight to get the gold/silver color cover on to the translucent reflector. I had to squeeze the ring holding the translucent reflector, to get the zip closed. Is this normal? Please suggest.

A: It's a little tight but you want the fabric tight so it acts like a foamboard flat.

Q: 5. How many stops ?

A: This disc would reduce the light by 1 full stop.

Q: 6. Will this work with the 1000w tungsten photoflex starlite QL?

A: No. We highly do not suggest using the following item with a 1000 watt bulb to avoid damage or any fires.

Q: 7. Does The "White Translucent" have a black side or does it allow light through?

A: Yes, the following unit does feature a blk-side.

Q: 8. What is the diameter of the side that attaches to the strobe?Thank You, Normand

A: The reflector is discontinued but the attachment on the strobe and the reflector is called the Bowens S-Mount. And many lights use that same connection. It is around 5.7 inches (144mm)

Q: 9. Does it attach via bowens mount?

A: You can use the Impact Speed Ring for Impact, Bowens S, Westcott & Aputure, B&H # IMSRIMPV to attach this Photoflex Octodome to a head with a Bowens mount. https://bhpho.to/2CvNyFE

Q: 10. Has anyone used this 42x72 diffuser to cut daylight from a person, and if so how was it mounted? I can easily mount my smaller circular one but I am worried this one will be unwieldy. Certainly I will need a longer arm (like the Westcott Extreme), but I envision my C-stand tipping over.

A: You can use A clamps on a C stand Grip arm. A C stand can easily hold this reflector.

[2.2 lb] I use this refector in my home studio for portraits. Due to its size, it can be used for full-length portrait shots. I haven't used it on location, but it folds down into a small size, is really lightweight and is portable.

[2.2 lb] I use this reflector quite a lot. It is long and tall and packs up well. I have several brands of collapsible items and am always pleased with the quality of the impact ones. They fold up easily but also lay quite flat when popped open, which can be a big problem for lesser quality frames that hang all wonky.

[2.2 lb] Maybe I just don't have the touch and maybe it's just because of the size of it (6 feet!) it's hard to fold. You really need to grip the frame tightly to get it to twist inside the fabric. Once you get it twisted it does the rest for you. Opening it is great because of how strong the frame is. It pops right open, but beware you aren't near any open beverages or small children because it definitely knock them over. It gives off a very nice color value and is made of a strong fabric. I like it but I think I'll need a smaller one for working in more confined spaces and operating without an assistant. 6 feet just might be a little unwieldy at times.
