Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Nikon d3400, will this be compatible ?

A: Yes it will work. Any camera with a hot shoe and a microphone jack will work with this mic.

Q: 2. Does it fit the Rode Lavalier Go?

A: No, I don't think the Shure Snap-Fit Windscreen for DL4 and DH5 DuraPlex Microphones is going to work with the Rode Lavalier GO because the microphones that this windscreen is designed to fit are flat and the windscreen snaps on. As a better option for the Lavalier GO, you can use the WindTech Windscreen- 3/16" - 3-Pack, White (B&H # WI2300PW).

Q: 3. Just bought the MV7 - is it safe/recommended to just leave it plugged in to my PC's USB and be on at all times? Or should I plug/unplug as needed? Does it matter?

A: Yes, you can leave the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone connected to your computer at all times without causing damage to the mic or computer.

Q: 4. What is the diameter of the pin that slots into the clamping base?

A: The manufacturer has not specified diameter of the stem that fits into the C-clamp base for the 512 AUDIO 512-BBA Microphone Boom Arm.

Q: 5. ...can I use 2 Shure MV7 on 1 computer connected via USB at the same time?

A: The computer will only recognize one USB mic. Since the MV7 provides both USB and XLR output, you can use a USB audio interface with two XLR mic inputs. The interface would then connect to the computer via USB enabling use of both mics at the same time.

Q: 6. is there a shock mount that will work with the MV7? and what is the best pop filter to use with it?

A: The MV7 has a built-in shock mount as well as a built-in pop filter so a separate shock mount and pop filter are not necessary. The mic's yoke mount can be attached directly to a studio arm or standard mic stand. The studio arm may provide better isolation. Like the SM7b which also has a built-in shock mount, the MV7 is not designed to be used with a separate shock mount. Although there is a built-in pop filter, i is possible to add a separate pop filter such as the Auray PFSS-55 Pop Filter with Gooseneck and Springloaded Clamp (B&H # AUPFSS55). The springloaded clamp makes it easy to attach to the mic's yoke mount or a studio arm or stand. You can find a variety of other compatible pop filters listed under the "Accessories" tab on the MV7 item page.

Q: 7. If I want to use the MV7 with the Zoom H6 would I need a cloudlifter?

A: A Cloudlifter is recommended, as this Mic has low sensitivity and requires a lot of gain, which may increase noise. It does depend on the Mic Pre; see below. At a sensitivity of -55 dBv, the Shure MV7 would require 55dB of gain to achieve the same level as what is "heard" by MV7 diaphram. As an example, a Focusrite Solo has Mic Pre gain of: "Up to" +56 dB this means the Mic Pre Gain would have to be fully cranked to achieve unity gain. Please note that the higher the negative dBV, the lower the sensitivity. That is, a mic with a sensitivity of -56dBV is less sensitive than a mic with a sensitivity of -38dBV, but more sensitive than a mic with a sensitivity of -65dBV. A more logical way to look at it is to think about how much gain will be required to amplify the test signal up to a level of one volt (One Volt is the "Unity Gain" number), the level as supplied "Into" the microphone.

Q: 8. Does this come with a tripod?

A: The Shure MV7 microphone does not come with a tripod.

Q: 9. Will the Shure vp 83 work with a LUMIX g9? I see the mike comes with a TRS cable to input to the camera and the G9 has a TRRS audio input.

A: Yes, the Shure VP83 is compatible for use with the Lumix G9. The mic input on the camera is a standard 3.5mm TRS connection. It is TRS and not TRRS, which is the common connector for most mobile devices. So the VP83 will connect directly to the mic input on the camera with no adapters needed.

Q: 10. Does this microphone boom stand come with an XLR cable?

A: No, the Shure Deluxe Articulating Desktop Microphone Boom Stand does not include an XLR cable.

[0.02 lb] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Microphone Boom Arm has been very easy to use. It maneuvers very easily and it can be easily adjusted higher or lower or even move it around like 360. This is great for my standing desk since I normally use the microphone for meetings and find myself adjusting the desk to sit or stand throughout the day or move it away or closer to me. Very easy to install and worked great with my microphone as well has a low profile so it doesn'tlook bulky on my desk. Definitely recommend for offices or streamers.

[0.02 lb] Purchased these for my podcast. They are phenomenal for the price. They stay in place for the most part. Although, i was a bit surprised that they lowered when i rested my headphones on them, but, thats not where they should be rested anyways, so, that gives an idea of what would make it drop. Btw....i have a very heavy set of Executive Beats by Dre that hold batteries.
Im more than pleased with them.
Easy to setup, easy to adjust and they look great. Also, they have a slot and clips to hide the mic wires.

All in All.....these are perfect and absolutely great for the price.
Check my podcast out if ya wanna see them in action. Buck The System Podcast on facebook live, youtube, spotify, anchorfm and many others

[0.02 lb] What a great price (comparable to Blue Yeti Brand Mic Boom) and the material construction is heavy duty. Very easy to work with and nice looking. Highly recommend.

[0.02 lb] Solid Boom. Much better than the spendy Blue Compass arm which spring is ridiculously too tight. This is much more suitable for standards mics (Blue Yeti/shock mount and pop filter) love the simplicity of it and looks super clean and holds my mic firm and well. Warranty is also very nice and from what I hear customer service is solid so would/will reccomened.

[0.02 lb] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My boyfriend is a radio show host and added this piece to his studio. It’s very sturdy and the arm extends pretty well. Must have the right MIC to use this arm! Highly recommend.

[0.02 lb] The low profile of this boom is reason enough to give it 5 stars. The fact that it is also a well built boom is icing on the cake. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!
