Whether you're looking to access and save files from an older machine, backup personal files, or do some in-field large format video editing, the Envoy Pro FX can handle every audio, video, photo, graphics, and gaming task.

This drive features a heat dissipating aluminum housing that is IP67 rated to survive the dirtiest and wettest environments. Take on the urban jungle or a chaotic set with confidence that your data is protected by military grade toughness and a platform tested to MIL-STD810G standards.

The deeply grooved fins on the Envoy Pro FX's charcoal grey aluminum chassis aren't there just for good looks. They turn the entire enclosure into a highly effective heat sink for maximum heat dissipation and performance. Even after prolonged top speed file transfers, the silent Envoy Pro FX remains reliably cool.

Protect client project files or personal information with ease. Fully compatible with macOS and Windows built-in encryption, the Envoy Pro FX lets you bring peace of mind and password security to your data whenever you need it.

[480 GB] Smaller, no chord attached. Built like a tank, fast.

[ M.2 SSD ] Always wanted a drive that runs at Thunderbolt speeds (almost 2500MB/s) on Thunderbolt ports and USB Gen 2 speeds (almost 1000MB/s) on modern Apple Mac USB-C ports, and switches automatically to operate on either port. Can also run at USB-3 speeds (almost 500MB/s) on USB-A ports with USB-A to USB-C cable. Can move this drive between various Mac's, with or without Thunderbolt, and it works perfectly on all of them. Can take the drive anywhere to backup family Macs without worrying about what ports I'll encounter (but bring all the cables).

[0.955 lb] I was surprised how robust this drive is. This is my first Thunderbolt drive and it does not disappoint at all. OWC makes incredible sturdy products so I shouldn't expect anything less with this drive. I get about 2050 mb/s write and 2720 mb/s read on my MacBook Pro 16 inch M1 Pro 2021 and about 415 mb/s write and 420 mb/s read using the tethered usb c to usb a adapter on my MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina mid 2012. It's a big step up coming from a hard disk drive haha. I got the 4TB version formatted to Apple's APFS file system and it works flawlessly. I definitely recommend this Thunderbolt drive for anyone looking for a Thunderbolt drive.

[0.955 lb] Speeds used with MacBook Pro and Mac Pro are consistent with claimed speeds. The speeds are sustained with large transfers, upwards of 100+ files and 500GB+ each time. If you must, even lots up to 1T+ can be done in under 30 minutes. Totally like the old and discontinued Samsung X5, which was not backward compatible with USB-C only devices, like this Envoy Pro FX.

Remember, the slightly faster Envoy Pro EX is not backward compatible.

[Bus Powered] When shopping for an external drive for my lightroom photo files, I was surprised by the number of complaints/reports of repeated drive failures for well-known brands I've used in the past. I wanted a well-built portable drive for both travel and use at home. This drive was easy to set up and is much faster than my previous unit from WD.

[Aluminum] I purchased two of the OWC 4TB Pro FX External SSDs for my new 14 MacBook Pro. I am long-time customer of OWC products. My experience with their products and service has always been positive. Even if a SSD failed (for whatever reason), OWC was quick to either provide either a refund or replacement. Interestingly, at the time when I went to the OWC web-site to purchase these particular 4TB Envoy Pro FX SSDs, they were out of stock. However, B&H Photo-Video had them, which was a pleasant surprise. I use these particular drives for 4K video editing, often for projects using two or three cameras. So far these SSDs have met the challenge both in terms of relatively fast read/write times and being dependable.

[ M.2 SSD ] I purchased this external drive to compliment my new MacBook Pro M2 Max and no regrets at all. This drive is excellent, runs smoothly, boots up fast, runs fast with Thunderbolt. and is quiet as well can be for an SSD drive with minimal heat.

[ M.2 SSD ] This drive has a heft and build quality far beyond your typical USB 3.x device ( and I have a few that I love), inspiring great confidence. And it is blazingly fast. Worth the money if you are using it for transfer, scratch and progress drive.
