- The LT-HD2 allows the Aurora(n) to be used in all current Pro Tools HD systems.
- Connected via mini-Digilink cables (available separately) to HD Core, Accel Core, HDX, or Native cards, Pro Tools recognizes the Aurora(n) converter and controls all input and output functions, clocking, routing, and other settings.
- The LT-HD2 features one Primary and one Expansion mini-DigiLink port. Aurora supports full channel count at sample rates up to 192 kHz.
- Pro Tools users can benefit from Lynx’s proprietary SynchroLock 2 word clock technology for very low jitter and low distortion of digital signals.
- The analog signal path for each channel has been designed as a self-contained and shielded circuit. Each channel pair has its own dedicated conversion device. This offers many sonic advantages like significantly reducing crosstalk and distortion, while increasing dynamic range and performance.
- Proprietary, SynchroLock 2 high-performance sample-clock technology provides a whopping 300,000:1 reduction in jitter, 5-second lock time, and absolute accuracy.
- Wordclock I/Os provides one input and three outputs on BNC connectors.
Add Channels:
- Start with eight, sixteen, or twenty-four channels and later add additional groups of eight channels for up to thirty two total.
Add Modules:
- Digital I/Os, mic preamps; more are being designed now for future release.
Add Connectivity Options:
- Dante, Thunderbolt 3, or USB via LSlot cards (available separately).
- Mastering-quality, 32-in / 32-out AD/DA conversion at up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.
- 32 analog ins and 32 analog outs on eight DB-25 connectors.
- Preinstalled Lynx LT-HD2 Pro Tools HD & HDX interface card.
- Wordclock I/O: one input and three outputs on BNC connectors.
- Onboard microSD player/recorder capable of up to 32 channels of direct recording and playback.
- Two audiophile-grade headphone outputs with independent volume control.
- 480 X 128 TFT LCD display provides immediate access to all levels and functions and ensures that you see every piece of critical data from just about any viewing angle.
- Universal power supply built in, no wall warts.
- 1 RU rack-space design with no fan provides silent operation, so you can keep unit in the recording room, with no need for isolation from distracting fan noise.
- Full Windows and OSX compatibility.
- Designed and built in Southern California, USA.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. How to get the front panel display out to a larger video display?
A: There is no way to connect the front panel display from the RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE High-Performance Converter to a larger video display, but you can run the free RME Digicheck app on a Mac or Windows computer to be able to view the same metering from the spectral analyzer, as well as more options, on a large monitor connected to the computer. Additionally, an ADI 2 Remote app will be available soon that will enable full control from a computer.
Q: 2. I'm planning use same speakers for HTPC and turntable. Can I use that device as some kind of pre / pro with turntable when my HTPC will be switch off? And if answer is yes then how can I set up volume?
A: The The Aurora 16 USB from Lynx Studio Technology will not operate in standalone mode. A more appropriate device for your HTPC setup would be the RME Fireface UFX II USB Audio Interface; B&H# RMUFX2.
Q: 3. Would this permit me to plug a microphone into one of the XLR ports or do I need a seperate mic pre?
A: No, the RME ADI-2 Pro FSR does not have any mic preamps built-in so it is not intended for connecting microphones. You would need to use a separate mic preamp. As another option, you may like the RME Babyface Pro FS 24-Channel 192 kHz Bus-Powered USB 2.0 Audio Interface (B&H #RMBABYFACEPF) which has two analog XLR inputs with mic preamps.
Q: 4. What are the differences between the pro and the non-pro version?
A: New Shark chipset, Black Face, extended remote better audio specs that match the ADI2 DAC FS.
Q: 5. I own a Pentax K20D dSLR. How is this Pentax 1.4x teleconverter better than the Tamron 1.4x teleconverter I already own for this (older) camera?
A: I don't know anything about the Tamron 1.4x, but I too had an earlier 1.4x for which I paid $99. I forget the brand off the top of my head. In comparison, the Pentax is vastly superior (with my K-3; I'm not sure about how well it will work with a K20D). The picture quality is superb (while the cheaper device produced images that were no better than what Photoshop could do in post-processing). The in-lens auto-focus is supported in both my Pentax 300 and Sigma 150-500 and it works well and quickly with both. It does not work so well with my Sigma 18-250 lens (tends to overshoot and flip back and forth while trying to focus -- this can be overcome by using Live View). Also, with the Pentax lens, but not the Sigmas, the presence of the teleconverter is detected and included in the metadata, so, for example, the 300mm lens is shown as shooting at 420mm.
Q: 6. Will this unit work with a Mac using the M1 chip? Thanks.
A: The RME ADI-2 Pro FSR BE Reference AD/DA Converter with Extreme Power Headphone Amplifiers and Remote is a Class Compliant device and is compatible for use with M1 Apple computers.
Q: 7. Can you digitize vinyl records from an analog turntable or would baby face be better choice since it has a pre-amp?
A: The Babyface has microphone preamps. It would be helpful to know whether the turntable you will be using has phono level output or line level output. If the output is line level, then you can use any USB audio interface that accepts line level input to digitize vinyl. If the output level from the turntable is phono level, then you will need a phono preamp specifically for use with turntables such as the Rolls VP29 Phono Preamp (B&H # ROVP29), Bellari VP549 Phono Preamp (B&H # BEVP549), or ART Precision Phono Preamp for Turntables (B&H # ARPRECPHN). The ART USB Phono Plus Phono Preamp with USB (B&H # ARUSBPPPS) also features a built-in USB audio interface.
Q: 8. Can I play an analog source and have it digital out via coaxial in real time?
A: Yes, the RME ADI-2 Pro FSR BE Reference AD/DA Converter with Extreme Power Headphone Amplifiers and Remote is able to route an analog audio source to its digital outputs in this manner.
Q: 9. Will this lens work on a Pentax 55-300 lens? Thanks. Steve
A: You may or may not be happy with the results. Bear in mind that teleconverters are designed to work properly with prime (fixed) fast lenses...f4 or faster. On zooms, even on fast zooms like 70-200f2.8, the results will not be that great. 55-300mm.... Probably not worth spending $$500 for a TC since the performance and quality will be marginal. I don't like it in my 70-200 f4 or f2.8
Q: 10. Can the adi-2 pro FS be used as an audio interface to record analog input to Adobe audition and other DAW?
A: Yes this will act as an interface for direct input into your computer.
