[Octave Shift] There is a small delay I am still trying to workout but overall the midi is great! I just started making beats and this is perfect for everything I want to do. The automapping is the key and makes everything so convenient. The product came with a sample trial of ableton live so that is what I am currently working with!

[Octave Shift] I love the feel of the keys. Just like what I remember from my piano (still on the mainland, built in 1900, we have no room for it here).


I've only just started exploring its use with my Linux-based software, so I can only state that having the full 88 keys back is WONDERFUL after decades of only 61 keys. A big part of the joy of piano is it covers the entire scale.


Aftertouch works.


I haven't done anything with the three joystick controls.


When I first set it up, I didn't have a USB-A to USB-B cable, so I tried using my MIDI interface, but wasn't able to make that work. I have a history of being flummoxed by old-style MIDI cables, so I may simply have connected it up wrong.


Then I found an appropriate USB cable, plugged it in, and things just worked.


I like the keyboard. I like the fact that it's not loaded up with arranger software, instruments in ROM, or tied to proprietary Windows/MacOS-only applications.


I look forward to playing it a lot!

[2.355 lb] I found nothing wrong with this keyboard since I opened it, everything works smoothly, there are auto-midi-mapped buttons for specific DAW's and its lots of fun to customize!

[USB Bus Power] I replaced my Casio PX-160 digital piano for this StudioLogic SL88 Studio MIDI keyboard controller.
I really like the Casio PX-160 key action, however, this StudioLogic key bed with its touch action is a fine replacement to keep my fingers physically fit.
This keyboard in conjunction with the lighter action Novation Launchkey 88 Mk3 MIDI keyboard makes a fine pair for alternating between touch and light action.
This StudioLogic key bed is Fatar TP/100LR, a highly regarded and affordable key bed.
Also this keyboard controller is Made in Italy.
I am quite content with this purchase.

[Octave Shift] Needed to move to a full sized keyboard for studio midi work only. Got this recommendation from the folks at B and H and it is truly like playing a regular piano.

[2.355 lb] I got this for my computer and music making. I mainly got it cause it had pads for when I make beats and to make it easier for my percussion. It does that perfectly. Gives me the ability to do so many other things and connects right up with Logic. You do have to manually put some keys in place but it's not too hard. Either way, great buy and a great product.

[USB Bus Power] The Hammer 88 is a no frills MIDI controller with a nice weighted action. Construction seems solid. A pretty good buy for the price.

And all types of keyboards over the last half century as they've evolved (Farfisa Compact, Hammond B3, Ensoniq, Fatar, Korg, etc.) But, I've always loved the piano the most. I owned a beautiful 6' Yamaha Grand for 25 years but had to get rid of it 10 years ago due to our downsizing to a smaller place; it took up a LOT of room. Since then, I've bought and subsequently donated a dozen or so other keyboards, which sounded good, but didn't have that true piano feel. Any pianist can close their eyes and tell you if it's a real piano, just by that feel. But, not with this baby! With the right software (True Pianos, Kontakt, Ominsphere, etc.) you can sound as good as ANY piano on this planet, AND you can do it with headphones if you want! But, the feel, the expression, is pure piano! Why is it perfect?; Price, Quality, Weight (it's very heavy!), Appearance (it's beautiful!), Simplicity (it's just a keyboard with no screen, and no internal sounds; my PC monitor and keyboard is in front of it), and most importantly - FEEL. It IS a real piano. Just close your eyes and play....... It's perfect in every way. The last keyboard I will ever need and own!!!
