It features a bright f/1.5 maximum aperture, allowing it to be used in low-light situations and providing finer creative control over depth-of-field. [1.535 lb] Really coming to like this lens and focal length. If you're like me and have mostly shot with a FF 50mm type lens then you may not want to spend too much trying out a focal length that's really not that different. Fell in love with it though. The focus ring feels nice and it's sharp enough though obviously not really that sharp which isn't surprising for the price you're paying for it. I hated how the focus ring looked in photos but it's actually nicer to look at in person. I wish the focus ring was a little larger/wider just to make it easier to grip/change quickly but it's not really a big deal.

[Full-Frame] If you don't mind manual focusing, this lens is terrific. It's sharp and beautiful. The only flaw is the lens hood. It falls of easily. But for the money, I wear if without hood or filters. Live it up!

[21mm] I use it on my Leica SL2 and in crop mode on a Leica CL and it performs in each modality perfectly. By f2.8 to f4.0 it's super sharp all the way to the edges. Can't imagine a better lens in the wide family for this kind of cost. Just buy it. You'll see.

Corners aren't perfect when used wide open but neither are the corners on my Zeiss 21mm either...

[10] For the price, just can’t beat it. Has a softer, filmic look to it.

[Full-Frame] This is an incredible ultrawide angle lens! The corners are sharp enough, and the coma is minimal for how fast this thing is.

Most professional reviewers used the Leica M Mount version of this adapted to Sony E, which introduces significant coma and a loss of sharpness (Due to Sony E's filter stack). The Sony E Mount version is just wonderful, and is ideal for working indoors, as the lens is sharpest with the highest contrast at portrait distances.

Sharpness decreases at MFD, as well as at infinity, but by F/2.8, there's no spherical aberrations/glow to speak of. Shoot at portrait distances to really make the most of this thing!

There is some field curvature, but focus peaking makes this easy to get used to!

And for anyone curious: This lens is sharper at F/1.5 than most vintage lens are at F/5.6. It's incredible! Blows away my Tokina, Tamron, and Olympus ultrawides. If you're looking for vintage color, build quality, and handling, but want modern sharpness and image quality, then this is my recommended choice. Infact, this lens is cheaper than most ultrawide vintage lens, despite being new with superior optics!

[92°] After owning a few weeks I just ran some outdoor comparative tests at f8 with this lens mounted on Lumix S1R against the Leica Q with the Summilux Asph. 28mm f1.7. The news is all good for this lens except for a bit of corner fringing that Capture 1 cleaned up completely. Honestly, I was not expecting anywhere near the results. Color, feel, look, contrast, detail, vignette were pretty much identical between two ! Resolution was higher on pics taken with S1R along with better highlight detail. ( even with max. highlight recovery on Capture 1 for Leica lens ). Extreme 4 corner resolution STILL beat Leica even though this is a 21mm vs. 28mm. I love my Leica but give credit were credit is due... lens optically is great at f8. Fun manual lens that works so easily on Lumix S1R. Build quality is excellent. Balance this reviews with others to make up your own mind.

[10] I was pleasantly surprised with the clarity of the photos, I needed a fast wide angle lens for astrophotography and this one seems the right lens since manual focusing is what is needed. I was able to take very nice shots of the Milky Way with it. I also tried it for street photography and it produced decent photos, although I do prefer auto focus for that. Bottom line I like this lens and the price is right.

[10] I am a Retired Senior amateur photograph using an Olympus OMD EM 5 Mark III camera. I had recently purchased a TTArtisan 35mm 1.4 lens and was so impressed with it in performance, color, bokeh, sharpness that I had to try the 23mm as well. Both perform outstandingly well and are a joy to use. How lenses of this quality can be sold at such low prices is beyond my understanding but I am tickled that I can get such outstanding images with them.
Being both manual focus lenses, they offer the opportunity to slow down and take you time getting the image right. I use focus peaking and magnification to get fine tuned sharp images. I just finished doing Portraits for a Sit with Santa and set the 35mm at f2.5 and all turned out exceptional. You can get very close with this lens and the bokeh is very pleasing. A great buy for new photographers wanting to try out prime lenses and manual focus. Highly recommended !
