A classic wide angle lens updated for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless systems, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens Sony Efrom Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens Sony Eis an Art-series prime characterized by its advanced and updated optical design, sleek profile, and bright design. The f/1.4 maximum aperture enables working in low-light conditions and also provides increased control over depth of field for achieving shallow depth of field effects. The optical layout incorporates two SLD Special-Low Dispersion, one ELD Extra-Low Dispersion, and one FLD Low Dispersion elements. It also incorporates two aspherical elements and high refractive index elements to achieve a notable degree of clarity and sharpness with well-controlled distortion and aberrations. Also, a Super Multi-Layer Coating enhances image quality by suppressing lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity in strong lighting conditions.

Balancing the optics is a refined exterior design, which features a physical aperture ring, which can be de-clicked or locked, along with a dedicated focus mode switch and AFL button for intuitive and tactile control. For autofocus, a stepping motor is used that maintains a lightweight and compact design while promoting fast and near silent focusing performance for both stills and video applications. Additionally, the lens features an 11-blade rounded diaphragm for smooth bokeh quality and the lens housing is also weather-sealed to suit working in inclement conditions.

As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.

Wide-angle lens is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is particularly well-suited for working in available light conditions and provides extensive control over depth of field for isolating subject matter with selective focus.

Lens Construction: 15 elements in 11 groups, including one FLD low-dispersion element, one ELD extra-low dispersion element, two SLD special-low dispersion elements, and two aspherical elements.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions. Resistance coating allows oil and water to be easily wiped from the front lens surface and prevents oil and fat from sticking for easy cleaning.

Integrated stepping motor realizes quick and quiet internal autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. Face and eye detection supported in feature enabled cameras.

Manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture switching to benefit video applications. Additionally, a dedicated aperture ring lock switch can also be employed to prevent accidental shifting of the aperture setting.

Built-in Autofocus-Lock (AFL) button which can be assigned additional functions widens the range of operations available on the lens.

Rounded eleven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Weather-resistant construction with a brass bayonet that affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

[Full-Frame] I almost never write reviews but this is freaking legit. I was hoping that I wasn’t gonna get a junk one or it to turn out to be a scam since this is my first time buying from this website but it’s not!! Not to mention I live in Hawaii so shipping was expensive but for the hope of my career to become a professional photographer and as a hobby, it’s worth it

[67 mm (Front)] I purchased this lens to augment my collection of primes. It was on sale at $150 off for the holiday. That ended my fretting about if I would get the Sony 1.4 GM or the Sigma Art. I had all of the APSC Sigma Primes for my A6000 and I loved them. When I sold the kit I missed them. This lens does everything I want it to do for a semi wide focal length. I really love the lock on the shade. It is well built, bright and makes a great carry around. I also own the Sony 20mm 1.8 g and the Sigma 85 1.4 art. Eventually the Sigma 135 1.8 art will complete my prime lens collection unless I get a hankering for a 50mm. Look out Sony 24 - 105. Fast primes are coming for you!

[f/1.4] I've owned Sigma Art 35's for Canon, Nikon and Sony (non-DG DN) and then had this lens in the Sony version on my A7r IV before switching to the Leica SL system.
It does everything so incredibly well. It's sharp wide open, has no color issues (some Sigma's tend to be on the warmer side) and is built beautifully.
The bokeh is ever so slightly busier than the canon 35L II (the best AF 35 made, in my opinion) but the difference is minor.
If this lens cost $500 more, it would still be worth it, but at this price, it is an absolute bargain.
Paired with the 85mm DG DN, I feel I can do anything, be it in the studio, in the field, at a wedding. These lenses are the new benchmark for how to do things correctly.

[Sony E] After reading a lot of reviews and comparing it with other brands, I decided to buy this lens because I am interested to use a fast prime 35mm lens to shoot landscape and architecture. I have to say that I am impressed with the sharpness of the lens and the fast autofocus that it has. I really recommend people who want to shoot landscape to use this lens because the focal length of 35mm is perfect for that and it also has f1.4 which is very good in low light condition and can create a nice bokeh.

[Autofocus] Love this Sigma, fast focus, fast aperture no flare, awesome bokeh, not boring, interesting character and sharp sharp sharp.
Very Solid Pro build with moisture seals in the right spots. This lens replaced my $4K 35mm Summicron SL. I don't miss it AT ALL.
If you want versatility over brand loyalty get this and save your money.
Thanks Sigma for giving us L mount shooters an Excellent alternative.

[67 mm (Front)] I was looking for a 35mmf1.4, already owning Sony 20mmf1.8, Sony 24mmf1.4 GM, Samyang 50mmf.1.4 version II, Sigma 85mmf1.4 DN Art for my A7R4. All those lenses are excellent, including the Samyang (although it's eye AF in low light is not as strong as others). Most reviews say Sony 35mmf1.4 GM is better optically than the Sigma, especially regarding longitudinal chromatic aberration. So I bought a used (Condition 10 good as new) Sony 35mm from BHphoto. I was disappointed with its sharpness at f1.4 even with good AF in daylight. So I returned it and bought this Sigma. The Sigma definitely sharp wide open and eye AF is quick and accurate. I couldn't really see any distracting loCA. Bokeh is nice and soft. Definitely better than the used Sony I bought, which could be a bad copy. Build quality is also better than the sony but heavier. Definitely a great buy, especially at its current sale price.

[35mm] I am completing my collection of primes. I have a Sony 20mm 1.8 for astrophotography and landscape. This is the second prime and I find it to be a great focal length for indoors and general carry around. An 85 and a 135 will complete my kit. I really love the Sigma Art lens. It is tack sharp and focuses just fine on my a7r iii. Sorry 50mm I don't think I need you (yet).
