USB 3.1 Gen 1 features a maximum throughput of 5 Gb/s and is synonymous with USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.0.

Users can make backup copies from TeraStation to an rsync-compatible device from another manufacturer. This function also allows backups to be made from another manufacturer's rsync-compatible NAS to the TeraStation NAS.

TeraStation functions as a client of an Active Directory domain, so that domain users and groups can be used. This means that they can be used in domain environments of companies with up to 10,000 users and groups.

Hot-swap function increases data security. With hot swappable drives, the TeraStation automatically switches off the defective hard disk even if one hard disk fails, so that it can be replaced safely without interrupting work or losing data.

Buffalo's TeraStation features B-Sync, which allows users to easily synchronize files between their TeraStation and 3rd party cloud services to make backups. The Buffalo NAS supports Amazon S3 Cloud Services, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Azure.

The web interface has a dashboard that offers the user effective views of system status, the ability to resize windows on a computer or phone, and a comfortable button layout.

Take advantage of 1GB of DDR3 memory for smooth multitasking.

Works simultaneously as NAS and iSCSI target.

This NAS server comes equipped with two NAS hard drives, ensuring optimum performance and reliability in RAID and continuous operation.

Using replication, a folder in two separate TeraStation NAS arrays is synchronized almost in real time. This only happens in one direction from the source to the destination and is not bi-directional. This function can be set up with a LAN or WAN. WAN setup includes remote connection via port forwarding and VPN setup.

[Desktop] I have previously owned Buffalo Linkstation devices and have found them to be very reliable and reasonably priced. The Buffalo Linkstation 210 was very easy to setup for someone with networking experience. It took about twenty minutes to configure the network settings, shares, users and permissions. I am very satisfied with the file transfer performance and love that I can backup one Buffalo Linkstation NAS device to another Linkstation or to an attached external USB hard drive.

[16 TB] I recently got the Buffalo TeraStation Essentials 8TB 4-Bay NAS Array for our small business, and wow, it's made a big difference! With 8TB spread over four 2TB drives, we've got loads of space for all our important files. Setting it up was super easy, which was a relief, and using it was straightforward, too. It's quick and reliable when we access our data, which helps everything run smoother day-to-day. Plus, it feels sturdy and well-made, so I'm not worried about it breaking down on us. Honestly, adding the TeraStation to our setup has been a great move for keeping our data organized and easy to get to.

[16 TB] Bought as a shared backup solution after Drobos died and that company is going belly-up, with no support or products. TeraStation was easy to connect up and set up shares to multiple PCs. Robust with plenty of capacity.

[16 TB] I'm an electrical engineer and work from home and this fit my need s perfectly. I have two networks, one secure network for business and the other for home. This NAS has 4 NICs (2x 10Gbe) and (2x2.5Gbe) which would allow me to manage the NAS for 4 independent networks. I configured it with (5) 4 TB drives configured for RAID 5 and I opted to install two 512 GB Samsung 970 Pro NVMe M.2 512 GB SSDs configured to operate as a cache for the RAID system.

[16 TB] After studying the field, we ordered the Buffalo ls120. This comes configured with 2 drives as raid 1. It was particularly important to insure from data loss. Storage space was secondary. NAS of this quality are usually more expensive (and with more storage than I need). Any device on my LAN can access and share the data without having an attached PC necessary all the time. Other configs are optional, but with raid1, in the unlikely event of one drive failure, the data is still safe and continuously available on the other one. Buffalo would rush a replacement of the failed drive quickly with no interruption.
