Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work on a M2 Mac Pro and a QNAP TS-1655?

A: The Sonnet Twin25G Dual 25G SFP28 PCIe Adapter Card (B&H # SOG25E2XE3) is compatible with the Apple Mac Pro M2, but the QNAP TS-1655 is not compatible with the PCIe card. A compatible option for the QNAP TS-1655 is the QNAP QXG-25G2SF-E810, B&H # QNQXG25SFE81 (https://bhpho.to/3ZvDsfX).

Q: 2. Does Thunderlink NS 3252 support link aggregation of the two 25GbE connections?

A: Yes, the ATTO Technology ThunderLink NS 3252 Thunderbolt 3 to 2-Port 25GbE (SFP28) Adapter (US Power Cord) supports IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation.

Q: 3. Does this support Truenas?

A: This card was designed for QNAP, Windows, and Linux.

Q: 4. Can this operate on Windows 11?

A: In addition to select Qnap units this QNAP QXG-25G2SF-CX6 Dual-Port 25GbE PCIe 4.0 x8 Network Expansion Card can be used on Windows and Linux servers and workstations as well.

Q: 5. Do you carry the other Nvidia ConnectX-6 and ConnectX-5 SKUs?

A: Currently, the HP NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-6 Lx Dual-Port 25G SFP28 Network Interface Card is the only model we carry in that line of cards.

Q: 6. Does anyone know if the QSFP28 ports on this support breakout cables? I'm assuming so but want to be sure before I purchase...

A: The QNAP QSW-M7308R-4X 12-Port 100G QSFP28 / 25G SFP28 Managed Network Switch does not support breakout cables.

Q: 7. Can you import footage from an external drive, it automatically create proxies, and automatically upload them to the cloud?

A: It is not possible to program the QNAP TBS-h574TX Thunderbolt 4 NASbook, B&H # QNTB574TI516, to automatically create proxies of footage copied to the NAS but it is possible to have it upload data automatically to a cloud service once you configure that in the NAS.

Q: 8. Can each thunderbolt port be connected to a different computer? So each computer gets one 25gbe port?

A: The ATTO Technology ThunderLink NS 3252 Thunderbolt 3 to 2-Port 25GbE (SFP28) Adapter (US Power Cord) supports 1 host computer connection, the other thunderbolt port would be for daisy chaining other thunderbolt accessories.

Q: 9. What are the power specs? (amps, volts, etc) what's the pin config? Will this also fit a Synology 1019+?

A: The QNAP 120W External Power Adapter will not work with the Synology 1019+. This 120W power adapter is meant to be a spare or replacement for the QNAP TBS-h574TX NASbook.

Q: 10. Is this backward compatible with pcie 3 x4 ?

A: This unit is backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0 and 2.0 however you will loose speed with older versions.

[9.8' / 3.0 m] I really like the switch and to have the speed and manage the switch from one console. Used HP Procurve before this, Which is a really good switch but can't touch the price of these Unifi 10 GB switch.

[0.475 lb] I have been looking for a reasonably priced all fast all flash NAS for a while now. QNAP has several, but they are too expensive for me or in the case of the TS-i410x which is a 4 drive only industrial NAS, not powerful enough to run ROON and doesn't use the NVMe technology.

This unit uses a robust processor, has 5 bays, allows the use of the new E1.S tech has both a 2.5 and 10GBs ethernet port as well as 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports that can be used simultaneously for amazingly fast transfers.

My concern with this unit were the 2 fans. They are dead silent. I literally cannot hear them until I put my ear right next to the unit.

E1.S drives are simple to install with this, just remove the M2 adapter, are faster, more reliable and with the 15mm versions (that this accepts) better at heat transfer BUT a little more expensive albeit harder to find at this time.

This also runs QTS Hero which IMHO is a better OS than QTS.

While I have only had this for several days, this is the best NAS I have ever had.

[9.8' / 3.0 m] This switch was purchased to substitute for a cisco
C9300X-24Y-M for the loss of features associated with the cisco switch where made up with purchasing a spare to sit in the rack a ubiquity rps for redundant power and better software on our firewall.

[0.475 lb] I'll start out by saying I'm not a professional. I'm an enthusiast. So it's an understatement to say I didn't need this. I will never be able to max out the packets per sec or the line rate. So why buy it? First) I could use more than 8 ports on the standard Agg Switch. Second) I'm already invested in the Unifi ecosystem.

So far my impressions are overwhelmingly positive. Head and fan noise are both are quite low in my setup. The casing stays cooler than the non-poe multigig copper swicth I have. However I did manually spool up the fans and have to say they're loud. So although normally noise with a device like this isn't a prime consideration just be aware if heat becomes a concern, noise will too. I have mine in a room I use as an office and noise is minimal and I hardly ever notice. Power consumption is very reasonable with 8 sfps & sfp plus 1 dac installed. With a second non-poe switch and a router, the total load is about 80W.

I can't offer any real comment about whether it meets the quoted specs as I simply do not have enough traffic to test it. But I've seen no comments on the web about it underperforming. If it does have a downside I'd point out what others have. 1st) that although the sfp cages give full telemetry on installed SFPs & DACs. But the SFP28 cages only show link status and connection speed. Others have speculated that perhaps this could be fixed with a firmware upgrade. 2nd) redundant power requires an eternal device and proprietary cabling. Seems to me to be a way to generate revenue as power supplies are cheap. Finishing on a positive the price per port is very reasonable. I'm happy with this switch and would buy again.

[9.8' / 3.0 m] Using with Crucial 1Tb drives in RAID 5 and hitting 1.2Gb read for my home virtualization environment. I have older QNAPs that just keep running without failure.
