Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this product work with TTL for Nikon cameras?

A: The PlusX units are not TTL. For TTL, you would need the Flex and Mini units from PocketWizard (#WIFTT5N and #WIMTT1N).

Q: 2. Will the Plus X work with the Samsung NX 20 as a flash trigger for off camera flash units?

A: Yes, but you have to have another unit for your off camera flash unit. These units act as both a receiver and transmitter. One is attached to your camera's hot shoe and another is attached to your flash via PC cable.

Q: 3. Are these compatible with Profoto and if so, do I need to order any other sync cords?

A: Yes, the Pocketwizard PlusX is compatible with most of the Profoto line. You will need a PlusX for each Profoto and one for your camera. It comes with a sync cord with adapters so you can use it without the need of other sync cords.Note the PlusX is a manual sync so it will sync the strobe, but it is not TTL or have the ability to change power from the camera.

Q: 4. Will this works with older profoto pack with integrated pocketwizard?

A: Yes this unit is backwards compatible with built in Pocket Wizard receivers found in many Profoto power packs or monolights.

Q: 5. So in essence, with the right breakout cables (QSFP28 to 4 x SFP28) the switch can support 24 (4x4 + 8) SFP28 ports?

A: The QNAP QSW-M7308R-4X 12-Port 100G QSFP28 / 25G SFP28 Managed Network Switch, B&H # QNQSWM7308R4, does not support breakout cables.

Q: 6. How's the fan noise? Looking for a 10G switch, but it'll be in a room where noise is a problem.

A: The fan on the Ubiquiti Networks Switch Enterprise XG 24 24-Port 10G Managed Network Switch with 25G SFP28 is very silent.

Q: 7. Would these work on Leica SL-2S to trigger an Elinchrom Five?

A: Yes, the PocketWizard Plus X 2 Pack would work on the Leica SL2-S Mirrorless Camera and would trigger an Elinchrom FIVE Monolight Kit.

Q: 8. Can two PlusX (transmitter) trigger 1 PlusX (receiver) simultaneously without interfering? A situation when the 2nd shooter is also using 2nd transmitter to trigger the same strobe the first shooter is triggering ?

A: If you've got two photographers in the same studio, each with a PlusX transceiver on their camera (set to the same channel), they can both trigger the strobes. The receiver doesn't care where the signal comes from, just that it's the right frequency. The limiting factor will be the recycle rate of the lighting units (which can be a few seconds, depending on their settings) so if you both try to trigger the strobes at the same exact time, they'll only fire once.

Q: 9. Is secondary power supply available?

A: No, the Ubiquiti Networks Switch Enterprise XG 24 24-Port 10G Managed Network Switch with 25G SFP28 does not support the option for a secondary internal power supply.

Q: 10. I have 3 Mettle 600AD Monolights, they have slave units built in, How many Pocket Wizards Xs do I need? I have Nikon D5300 and. Sekonic L-478DR flash meter

A: If you have three monolights and one camera, you will need a total of 4 units. One unit would be a transmitter on your D5300 while each monolight would connect to Plus X unit to receiver the signal. Your Sekonic L-478DR would be able to trigger the flashes with the Plus X units attached to take your flash reading.

[25GBASE-SR] Running Sony PXW-Z280 and FX6 generated 12G signals over fiber with these SFPs in Blackmagic 12G Optical Fiber adapters, and all works flawlessly. These finally give us live switched 4k shows, all the way to the stream (via an ATEM Television Studio Pro 4k, which is another amazing product). The cable is UTP single mode fiber, generally between 500 and 650 feet depending on the spool, although I'm sure a longer cable would work up to spec distances. These are a bargain compared to the equivalent BMD versions, and I'm very happy to have found them.

[0.125 lb] I purchased this cable to use with my QNAP TVS-872XT NAS and my Late 2019 Mac Pro. The quality of the cable is outstanding and I am getting the full Thunderbolt 3 transfer speed that I expected. Highly recommended and very reasonably priced.

[0.125 lb] I purchased the XG24 direct from Ubiquiti in 2022. It's been solid since its install. All 24 copper ports support 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G so it makes a great core switch or server switch. I'm using mine as a connection point for 2 10G NASs and to feed network connectivity to UPSs.

Under normal load it's a slight bit noisier than the USW-Agg Pro and runs a bit warmer. Neither the noise or heat has been an issue for me in a home office. However if the fans spool up, you'll certainly notice. Granted noise isn't normally a prime concern with a switch of this type.

Overall for my use case I'm very happy and can recommend. If you need more than 4 ports of multi-gig and are tied into the Unifi system the XG24 is a good investment.

[Full Duplex] I run a bunch of different fiber Blackmagic products. This works in every single one I have tried.

Since this is the 12G version, I have run 4k60p through it on a 150m fiber cable using a Ursa mini G2.

Very happy!

[SFP+] The installation went smoothly, the software has worked as expected, and I hope to see if it performs at the rated capacity. So far, so good.

[1x LC] Really, there's not much you can say other than I plugged each into an SFP port and they work absolutely perfectly.

These are especially useful in a situation like mine where one end is a media converter and the other is a Ubiquiti router with an SFP port (EdgeRouter 4.)

It works as you would expect with no discernible speed penalty compared to just a straight Gigabit Ethernet cable.

I installed mine to provide galvanic isolation between my cable modem and my home network so I need not worry about lightning strikes on my coaxial cable.

Highly recommended and you cannot beat the price.

[850 nm] This is currently the lowest price 12G SDI Video SFP.
Used in BlackmagicDesign's Optical fiber 12G.
Combined with ARIB or SMPTE camera cable, CAM and RET transmission equipment can be made.
Excellent!

[Full Duplex] Quality DAC path, and it is authentic Ubiquity. Really enjoy working with B&H. Have been a loyal customer for years. Their prices are the best around, especially when you consider shipping charges.
