The camera carrier is also constructed from aluminum. This camera carrier can be horizontally adjusted up to approximately 6.3” (16cm) with rack-and-pinion parallel guides.

The RSD Copy Stand offers both left and right hand operations using 2 blocking screws that prevent inadvertent changes to the adjusted position. The camera mounting plate can be tilted by an angle of ±90° and the camera connecting screw is horizontally adjustable. The height adjustment of the camera plate is available with a hand crank.

The copy stand also features a large, non-reflecting matt gray base plate with printed grid and inch/cm scales. Additional features of the stand include height adjustments of the base feet and a spirit level for indicating the proper alignment of an attached camera.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this be capable using it with darkroom enlarger, enlarging 120 & 35mm films? On 8x10 paper? And what about enlarging 4x5 films?

A: Regarding the Kaiser Repro Kid Copy Stand Kit (Consists of 23.25" Calibrated Column, 15 x 12.5" Baseboard (B&H# KACSKKQ), I would say no. Enlargers typically have larger and more robust columns to ensure greater stability. I would not recommend using any copy stand for an enlarger with any size paper or film. First, it likely will not fit. Second, copy stands are typically used with cameras that can utilize a faster shutter speed than one you would use when producing an enlargement. That is why the columns of a copy stand can be less robust. I'd recommend sticking with enlarger-related equipment when using an enlarger.

Q: 2. Does the mounting arm allow for pitch and yaw adjustments (in other words tilt side to side and tilt forward and backward)?

A: Unfortunately, the mounting arm of Kaiser RS1 lacks pitch and yaw adjustments.

Q: 3. My Jan 2 question was not answered satisfactorily. I want to know if the camera can be adjusted when mounted on the post such that the sensor is parallel to lens board and negative. A level mounted to camera doesn't help if camera cannot be adjusted. Can camera position be adjusted?

A: You can use a Ball Head to adjust the camera angles like Oben BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head B&H # OBBA117 + a Bushing BH #OB1039

Q: 4. Will this column fit on the Kaiser Grid Baseboard with Levelling Feet - 23 x 31.5 ?

A: Yes it will work with a Kaiser Grid Baseboard with Leveling Feet in the 23 x 51.5 size.

Q: 5. The description indicates the base is black, but the photo looks grey. Which is it?

A: The base is black.

Q: 6. Can the camera be mounted in two different ways ... meaning 1.) with the VIEWFINDER towards the column and 2.) the other way, with the TRIPOD HOLE (of the camera) towards the column?

A: No.

Q: 7. What is the usable scan area with the upright and RB 5070 DX2 lighting unit attached? I.e., is it slightly less than 20x24"?

A: The RB5070 DX2 Lighting Units would attach to the corners of the baseboard on this copy stand. That being said, the baseboard would give you a usable surface area closer to 20 x 24".

Q: 8. will this work with a 5d MK4 and canon 100 2.8L is? If not what do you reccomend?

A: Yes. Makes a perfect combination.

Q: 9. How is the camera height adjusted? I see a knob on the rear of the arm, does the column have a geared system (turning the knob makes fine adjustments), or is it held in place by tension (turning the knob loosens and tightens the clamp)?

A: The center column has a tension control knob that allows a end-user to lower or rise the unit.

Q: 10. I've looked at various reviews of the Kaiser Repro Kid Copy Stand Kit as an alternative to this item and a common concern across reviews is the screw that holds the camera in place is not strong enough to keep the camera in the desired position. Is the camera mount head on this item more robust/robust enough?

A: Yes the camera mount would be robust enough for a camera within the 7 lb range.

[49 x 25 x 24"] This is easy to set up. The arm slides smoothly along the column by using the hand crank. The arm is able to be extended outward in case your camera lens can capture the foot of the column. It is steady and sturdy for me to do camera scanning of my film negatives. Definitely worth the price!

[58.1 lb] I am using a Sony RX-10 with this copy stand and really like it. The crank to move it up and down is stiff enough to stay put but loose enough to easily move the camera. The only thing I had a little trouble with (and have since gotten better at it) was attaching the camera. The screw is fairly short and you have to line it up just right to attach.

[49 x 25 x 24"] I'm using the Kaiser RS 2 with a Canon 5D III, RRS quick release plate, and Canon's 100mm IS macro lens to digitalize my 10,000 prints. I use two desk lamps, low heat bulbs, and plain white paper (as diffusers ) for lighting. This is working really well. The stand is solid with the arm fully extended, the carrier has no play, no creep. I'm able to get up to a 5 x 7 print in the frame with the 29 post, that's full frame- no crop factor. I've done over 6,000 prints so far, the work flow is amazingly quick, product is better than the original prints. No cons, easy five stars.

[49 x 25 x 24"] The Kaiser Copy Stand RS 2 is sturdy and the arm is steady and locks in well. I have used it for photographic and stitching an oversized photo and it worked. Only difficulty is the light box I'm using to image slides and negatives is too large for the base. I will be using a large heavy cutting board on top of the base as a simple fix.

[49 x 25 x 24"] So for I'm happy with the RS2 copy stand. It's sturdy, and easy to use. The mechanism works smoothly to move the camera up and down. It's not as adjustable as the RS1, but using an Arca Swiss plate, once you get it aligned, you don't have to do it again so not a big deal. it's quite expensive for what it is, but that seems to be the case for anything today, and much of what you buy today isn't well made. This seems well made.
I'm using with D850 to copy various prints, slides and negatives. I'll likely use the ES-2 Nikon accessory to copy individual transparency frames, but I'm using this stand to make images of my full rolls of negs in PrintFile as contact sheets, with a 60mm Micro lens. Had hoped to use my Tamron 90, but didn't have the angle of view needed so had to buy the 60. Do test that the working distance of this stand will work with your chosen lens. As I said, it didn't with my 90mm lens for one of my intended uses.
I also got a Kaiser slimlite plano light table to light the transparencies, and that also works well.

[58.1 lb] This copy stand is very well made. The column and platform are solidly mated. The traveling stage moves smoothly and stays put under the (admittedly modest) weight of my EOS RP and its L-Bracket.

The only thing this lacks is the ability to put the hand crank on the other side of the column, but it may be that all copy stands lack this, so I won't hold it against Kaiser!

[58.1 lb] DO NOT BUY THE KID REPRO, it is cheap and unstable, for kids like the title may suggest. this is the lowest model I would consider.

[58.1 lb] This is a simple and easy to use copy stand. It allows adjusting the camera height, as well as the distance from the column. The handle that adjusts the height lets you set the distance to the original quickly and accurately. I use the stand with a Sony 14 MP DSLR A290 camera. I recommend a fixed focal length lens for sharp copies, as zoom lenses do not have the same sharpness. The stand is made in Germany, and appears to be of excellent quality of manufacturing.

[49 x 25 x 24"] I am glad that I bought this stand instead of other cheaper ones. It is of a high build quality and is strong enough to support an older DSLR camera with heavy lens and no issues. The adjustments are fine and smooth. I would highly recommend this piece.
