Q: 1. Will this read an old SmartMedia SM card?

A: Unfortunately, the Vivitar 50-in-1 Memory Card Reader / Writer cannot read SmartMedia cards.

A: Works for me on windows 10

Q: 3. Can you transfer the files onto anything else besides a PC?

A: Don't really know, but, it is poorly made. I ordered 2 and both didn't work correctly. Took a while to even insert a card into it/ Not recommended/

Q: 4. When plugged into computer, will it give a drive number? Trying to recover deleted files, and when my card is in the camera I don't get the needed drive letter.

A: Yes the files should come up as a drive letter, but not number. It also will show after the drive letter what you have named the SD card.

Q: 5. Does this card reader/writer work for UHS-I for Mac?

A: should work fine, best to reformat the SD cards for Mac in Disk Utility, except if you are going to use them in a camera or audio recorder, which requires PC format

Q: 6. will this work on an older model imac?

A: It should. I have an older IMac and the reader works just fine.

Q: 7. how do you take out the SD card? it was hard to slide in and now, I find it virtually impossible to remove

A: You just pull it straight out. Be sure when you insert and remove the card not to force or angle it as you can damage the pins inside that read the card which can make it more difficult to insert and remove.

A: Yes, you may insert an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card into the Vivitar 50-in-1 Memory Card Reader / Writer and connect the card reader to a computer to transfer files from your computer to the SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card.

A: Yes, this is compatible with the iPad.

[0.06 lb] There are many of these small reader/writers on the market, none of which cost much. My experience is that few of them last more than about six months. The brands that have lasted for me are no longer available. I've not tried a small Vivitar read/writer before so cannot predict. All I can say is that it still works after three weeks. And it's cheap enough that I don't much care if it fails in six months because I bought several as insurance. I've tried bulky and expensive including Vivitar. These have all been reliable but I hate the bulk. I prefer, cheap, small, and disposable. 5

[6 x 4.35 x 0.5"] This unit has been my workhorse for at least as long as I've had a digital camera. Simple to use and reliable. The pins are a little delicate, I keep bending one pin at the end of the row. Easy to correct, after all this time (aprox 15 years) I'm looking to get another one as a spare. 5

[0.06 lb] The hard drive crashed on my laptop a while ago and when I replaced it, for whatever reason my card reader didn't work. I tried online fixes first and nothing worked. I finally decided to cave and buy this device and it works like a charm! Worked as soon as it was plugged in. It would have saved me a lot of time (and money in time) to just get this in the first place, since it's such an inexpensive device. 5
