The column of the Kaiser RSD Motorized Copy Stand is constructed from matt-black, anodized aluminum with multi-section tubing and features inch/cm scales. The camera carrier is also constructed from aluminum. This camera carrier can be horizontally adjusted up to approximately 6.3” (16cm) with rack-and-pinion parallel guides.

The RSD Motorized Copy Stand offers both left and right hand operations using 2 blocking screws that prevent inadvertent changing of the adjusted position. The camera mounting plate can be tilted by an angle of ±90° and the camera connecting screw is horizontally adjustable. The height adjustment of the camera plate is motorized with 2 speeds.

The motorized Copy Stand also features a large, non-reflecting matt gray base plate with printed grid and inch/cm scales. Additional features of the stand include height adjustments of the base feet and a spirit level for indicating the proper alignment of an attached camera.

A: Regarding the Kaiser Repro Kid Copy Stand Kit (Consists of 23.25" Calibrated Column, 15 x 12.5" Baseboard (B&H# KACSKKQ), I would say no. Enlargers typically have larger and more robust columns to ensure greater stability. I would not recommend using any copy stand for an enlarger with any size paper or film. First, it likely will not fit. Second, copy stands are typically used with cameras that can utilize a faster shutter speed than one you would use when producing an enlargement. That is why the columns of a copy stand can be less robust. I'd recommend sticking with enlarger-related equipment when using an enlarger.

Q: 4. What is the usable scan area with the upright and RB 5070 DX2 lighting unit attached? I.e., is it slightly less than 20x24"?

A: The RB5070 DX2 Lighting Units would attach to the corners of the baseboard on this copy stand. That being said, the baseboard would give you a usable surface area closer to 20 x 24".

Q: 5. How is the camera height adjusted? I see a knob on the rear of the arm, does the column have a geared system (turning the knob makes fine adjustments), or is it held in place by tension (turning the knob loosens and tightens the clamp)?

A: The center column has a tension control knob that allows a end-user to lower or rise the unit.

Q: 10. My Jan 2 question was not answered satisfactorily. I want to know if the camera can be adjusted when mounted on the post such that the sensor is parallel to lens board and negative. A level mounted to camera doesn't help if camera cannot be adjusted. Can camera position be adjusted?

A: You can use a Ball Head to adjust the camera angles like Oben BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head B&H # OBBA117 + a Bushing BH #OB1039

[34.5 lb] I am using a Sony RX-10 with this copy stand and really like it. The crank to move it up and down is stiff enough to stay put but loose enough to easily move the camera. The only thing I had a little trouble with (and have since gotten better at it) was attaching the camera. The screw is fairly short and you have to line it up just right to attach. 5

[49 x 18 x 13"] I was very impressed with this piece of German engineering from the moment I opened the box. Mom wanted this stand to copy all of the old photos, and it is very capable and sturdy. The crank raises and lowers the camera very smoothly, and the camera is very secure on the mount. The stand comes in a wonderful hard case for storage. The setup is easy and intuitive, just like a fine Mercedes. I think the value for price is fantastic! 5

[49 x 18 x 13"] This copy stand is very well made. The column and platform are solidly mated. The traveling stage moves smoothly and stays put under the (admittedly modest) weight of my EOS RP and its L-Bracket. The only thing this lacks is the ability to put the hand crank on the other side of the column, but it may be that all copy stands lack this, so I won't hold it against Kaiser! 5

[34.5 lb] I wanted a copy stand that was sturdy, well designed, and would hold a DSLR camera. This stand capably supports my new DSLR with a large macro lens and accepts a standard quick release mount that I use with my camera. The tall rail allows for greater flexibility in selecting focal distances for different subjects. The sturdy and smooth winding mechanism make this copy stand a joy to use. If you need a copy stand I highly recommend this Kaiser RS2. 5

[49 x 18 x 13"] I am using for scanning . I attach Sony A7riii and shoot negatives so quickly. Perfect. Its Sturdy and has a carry case , yet not too big for sesk area. 5

[49 x 18 x 13"] This is a simple and easy to use copy stand. It allows adjusting the camera height, as well as the distance from the column. The handle that adjusts the height lets you set the distance to the original quickly and accurately. I use the stand with a Sony 14 MP DSLR A290 camera. I recommend a fixed focal length lens for sharp copies, as zoom lenses do not have the same sharpness. The stand is made in Germany, and appears to be of excellent quality of manufacturing. 5

[34.5 lb] This is a sturdy, well built device that does the job. The initial set-up took less than 5 minutes. The one feature that I really like is the way the horizontal arm can be extended with the camera. This is really vital. 5
