A: Yes, it works pretty well. I used it in a jumble of 20 Ethernet cables going through a wall. There are fancier devices that can tell you the length of a cable, but for the price this is a good deal. There was some leakage to adjacent wires on the same cable, but I could still tell which pin was connected to the pin on the other end.
