Outfitted with switchable harmonic coloration for sonically enhancing tracks, the Fredenstein EQ 500 Series 3-Band Equalizeris a 500 Series 3-band equalizer offering high-quality tone shaping in a highly accessible price class for producers, musicians, and engineers. The discrete signal path features an American-made output transformer as well as Fredenstein's specially designed OPA2 opamp, allowing it to impart a smooth sonic signature along with high-performance noise and distortion specs. A simple press of the Color button adds harmonics based on tube-type circuits, a great way to liven the sound of your source in a hurry.

Each of the three EQ bands provides up to 14 dB of boost or cut and variable frequency control—30 to 300 Hz for the low band, 300 Hz to 3 kHz for the mid band, and 2 to 20 kHz for the high band. Additionally, the low and high bands have independent switches to select bell or shelf for the filter characteristic. The face of the Artistic EQ has power and clip indicators at the top and a bypass switch at the bottom.

The centerpiece of the Artistic EQ is the OPA2 discrete audio operational amplifier. As in all Fredenstein products, the OPA2 is not a copy of an older design, but is a completely new design manufactured in SMT technology with matched and integrated dual input transistors to guarantee vastly improved specifications compared to older designs. The OPA2, in the tradition of similar modules, is socketed and can be exchanged without tools.

The sound is further defined by the American-made, steel-core output transformer, which is known for its smooth, vintage sound without being dark or mushy.

The Artistic EQ features a flip switch for its Color mode, a circuit that introduces harmonic coloration based on tube amp characteristics.

The high band covers 2 to 20 kHz, the mid band offers frequencies between 300 Hz and 3 kHz, and the low band is adjustable from 30 to 300 Hz. The high and low bands can be set to bell or shelf filters, and each band provides up to 14 dB of boost or cut.

The Artistic EQ also features a power indicator, a clip LED that lights when the signal level is over +24 dBm, and a bypass switch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the SmallHD Focus?

A: Yes, it works very well. I like it!

Q: 2. Do you have a product like this for a universal monitor application. Something that is not a strong arm, but delivers tilt functions for a monitor with a 1/4-20 on the bottom? Please advise.

A: Besides an articulating arm or strong arm you could look in to the Manfrotto 492LCD Micro Ball Head. This is designed specifically to mount an LCD monitor on top of shoe mount. It is very sturdy and will allow you tilt the monitor as well.

Q: 3. Will this attach to a cage if I'm using, say, an A7sii?

A: I use this pan/tilt mount on my ronin-m and the cage I have for my camera. All you need is a hot or cold shoe adapter on your rig to attach it to. In my opinion, this pan/tilt mount is well worth the money, and provides the fastest and easiest way to adjust or position your on-camera monitor on your rig.

Q: 4. Will these work on the GVM 1200s?

A: It will not work, this Angler Collapsible Softbox for 12x12" LED Light Panels B&H # ANLCSB121 is recommended for the led 1200

Q: 5. will this one will work with nexstar 60SLT ?

A: No, the Celestron NexStar+ EQ Hand Controller is only for EQ mounts, and can only be used with the Celestron NexStar 60 SLT 2.4"/60mm Refractor Telescope Kit if one flashes the firmware for the AZ mounts. A better option is to get the Celestron NexStar+ AZ Hand Controller, BH #CENSHCUA (https://bhpho.to/3K5P93F).

Q: 6. Is this good for a room or just a table?

A: This softbox would generally be used for softening the light coming from a Dracast LED500 Plus LED panel. The light itself can work well to light a small room or a subject at a table, but it all depends on how you position the light.

Q: 7. These screws came up on a google search for "Canon 17-120 Cine-Servo Replacement Screw". Looks like it may work due to the thread type but can anyone confirm?

A: The thread type on these screws is 440.

Q: 8. Does this work with the SmallHD 702?

A: This accessory is only available for the 500 series at the moment. The 700 series has a similar but larger bracket on the bottom of the unit. We are looking into an alternative method. We do however currently offer a strong arm for the monitor. a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078753-REG/smallhd_acc_mt_arm_7_strongarm_7.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078753-REG/smallhd_acc_mt_arm_7_strongarm_7.html/a

Q: 9. what are the thread specs? ( do they match typical 19 rack threads? )...

A: Hello Dennis,The ThumbSet screws are 4-40 type and are specific for mounting 500 series modules into our Workhorse power racks - they are too small to mount standard 19 equipment into equipment racks.Regards,Ryan

Q: 10. Will these work with the GVM 50RS panels?

A: It will not. The sizing is too small.

[1] This EQ has a lot of character and you will hear it very quickly even with very small adjustments. I've been using it very successfully on vocals along with the dbx560A compressor. Not a subtle, surgical, EQ. It definitely adds harmonic richness.

[1] Took a chance on this one and was happy I did. Using it between my Uturn Orbit and Edifier speakers in the office. Highly recommended

[>10 Kilohms] I've purchased a couple of these Fredenstein units now, and have found them solid and reliable. Great bang for the buck.

[>10 Kilohms] This is my solution for a rudimentary system for a workout room, with JBL monitors and subwoofer, this equalizer, a bluetooth connection for phone, and a CD player. New construction provided a 20' x 20' concrete block and concrete floor space for exercise. I added Nexel wire shelving, the above components, and it exceeds my expectations. I didn't need a complex and difficult to adjust graphic equalizer. The result is more than sufficient.

[600 Ohms] Hi,

Came back to vinyls in 2015.At that time,I got an amp from TEAC that didn't have any control on treble and bass:neutral sound they call the specialists..I was looking for something that could satisfy me without changing my amp.I searched, read and finally heard some good reviews on B&H about this product,Bellari EQ570. First time I buy from B&H from Canada, the neat thing is that they care of taxes and duties!.After a couple of weeks working on my new acquisition, the sound I was looking for came alive:
pure, not too colored, straightforward and pleasant.Takes some time to get used to the parameters but it delivers what I want.Really happy with my Bellari made in USA!

[<0.02%] This unit sounds amazing, I use it on vocals and set the EQ just enough to add some color on the highs. But this unit is definitely staying in the studio.

[Semi-Parametric] I use the equalizer almost on a daily basis. The matching is superb and easily transforms into top quality sound. It's design, knobs and general feel is excellent. The B&H technical specs and description are accurate and complete. There is no aspect to be improved; it is a sturdy equipment.
