The white D40 Studio Tungsten LED Fixture with Stage Pin Connector from ETC uses efficient white LEDs to create high volumes of tungsten-balanced light with far less energy than a traditional halogen or tungsten light would use. This luminaire produces brilliant white light that naturally illuminates the talent - on screen or on stage via its 40 Luxeon Rebel ES LED emitters. The 3,000K light from this luminaire mimics tungsten fixtures, while using a mere 110W of power. It is suitable for indoor broadcast, theater, architectural uses, and for use in houses of worship - where color temperature and skin-tone rendering are critical.

The D40 Studio Tungsten LED Fixture can be configured to operate under console control for studio systems or in stand-alone settings for location lighting when a console isn't available. The user interface enables easy configuration and specific features for video and film professionals.

Trying to assess the power output of the 200W units - currently running Einsteins at 14.1 WS, ISO100, F6.3, 1/250th into 2 1x3 softboxes - would I be able to use similar camera settings (headshots). Or another way of asking this is how powerful are these when used with a 1x3 softbox vs. the Westcott Flex 1x3's?

A: 200 watts of LED output is similar to maybe 75-100 watt seconds of Flash output.

Q: 2. With included reflector, how wide a spread does this have? I'm looking to light a 30' wide set wall with the SL200 hanging from above.. wondering if softbox would spread wider?

A: It would depend on the distance from the light to the background, but in most cases you will want at least one per 10 feet.

Q: 3. what is the throw distance for the 120ST?

A: According to the manufacturer, this fixture will produce a beam diameter of 14 degrees at 2 meters with a lux rating of 16,060.

Q: 4. What sort of tungsten fresnel would this be closest to? A 150? 300? Lumens I can figure out but lux is Greek...

A: This light produces 1258 LUX at 6 feet, which close to the output of what an Arri 150 Fresnel would give you in flood position when set at about 3.5 feet.

A: No, that light is not designed to be used with a softbox.

Q: 9. If you are using this in a studio with a DMX Lighting Control board, do you need the optional controller?

Q: 10. I'm interested in using it for video. How is the color accuracy, and does it cause any flicker issues with cameras when dimmed?

A: The CHAUVET DJ LED Followspot 120ST Fixture is really designed for theater and not photo use. It can be used for video. The manufacture does not have a color accuracy rating on that light.

[21 x 18 x 16"] Bought two of these to replace strobe modelling lights I was using for videos. I don't know about anybody else, but these things are bright. No problem lighting up an entire room. Will be using with reflecting umbrellas for both video and still portrait work. Mounting base does have some plastic parts, so will definitely be using counter weights when mounting with umbrellas to minimize strain on mounts. Recommended. 5

[21 x 18 x 16"] The SL-200 is an upgrade to my SL-60 for a studio and mobile interview key light. The SL-60 started showing limitations when lighting multi person interviews, using a smaller aperture, or adding light to an already bright scene. The SL-200's greater output addressed these issues; it's a natural upgrade that provides a bright and clean light for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. 5

[21 x 18 x 16"] I love this light so far for photos and video but no matter how tightly I adjust the handle to keep the light angled straight-on at the subject, it slowly falls and ends up tilted straight down again within 10 minutes, totally messing up my scene if I haven't noticed while shooting. It seems too heavy for the screw to hold it in place on the stand. Please advise! 5

[21 x 18 x 16"] When I needed to upgrade my SL-60w for more light, I bought the SL-200. I wasn't disappointed. Fan noise has improved from first version, hardly notice it. Great budget light. I'll stick with Godox until I win the lotto and can afford Profoto. 5
