Kase Wolverine Circular Polarizer Filter 58mm Adapter Ring

Kase Wolverine Circular Polarizer Filter 58mm Adapter Ring
  • Product Code: eq95858
  • Availability: In Stock

$299.85 $395.80

The Kase Wolverine Circular Polarizer Filter 58mm Adapter Ringhelps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage. An included Kase magnetic lens adapter ring allows the filter to be used on a lens with 58mm front filter threads.

Mounted within a nonthreaded steel filter ring, the Kase Wolverine Circular Polarizer Filter is made specifically to fit within a Kase Magnetic Lens Adapter Ring for Wolverine Magnetic Filters. Each surface of the filter's tempered, shock-resistant optical glass includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings to prevent internal ghosting and reflections while further enhancing clarity as well as color fidelity. These coatings also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

The included magnetic lens adapter ring allows a Kase Wolverine magnetic filter to be used on a lens with 58mm front filter threads. It is constructed from steel and allows for the convenient installation or removal of that filter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you adjust the Polarizer when is attached to the magnetic strip?

A: The rotating ring is separate from the magnetized ring that holds it in place.

Q: 2. Zeiss or Hoya HD3 CP? They are about equal in price, but which is the better filter for Sony f/2.8 24-70?

A: Both filters have an anti-reflective coating, but the Hoya HD3 would have a 16 layer coating which prevents scratches, stain, and is water resistant, for easier cleaning. Also it has a thinner ring which is better for wider lenses like a Sony 24-70mm f/2.8.

Q: 3. Is the UV filter included here?

A: No, there is no UV filter included. Just the polarizer.

Q: 4. will a nikon lens hood fit over the magnetic adapter and filter?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to test filters on specific lenses for compatibility with the lens' lens hood. Also, different lenses will have different lens hoods and different fits. That being said, do note that we do have a 30-Day Return Policy for the above filter, so if you are unhappy with the filter, you may return the filter within 30 days for an exchange or a refund subject to the terms & conditions of our return policy (listed on the bottom of our website).

Q: 5. Will the Wolverine Circular Polarizer work on a Kase Skyeye magnetic adapter?

A: No, Kase Skyeye Magnetic Adapter (82mm) are not compatible with kase wolverine magnetic filters series. The Kase Wolverine Magnetic Circular Polarizer Filter already comes with its magnetic ring. If you need a step up ring you will need Kase Magnetic Step-Up Ring for Wolverine Magnetic Filters.

Q: 6. Is Kase KW-MCPL-77 filter compatible with Manfrotto magnetic adapters?

A: It will not fit the Manfrotto magnetic ring but that is okay since the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Circular Polarizer comes with it's own magnetic adapter in the box.

Q: 7. Different Hoya Circular Polarizer Filters (NXT, HD2, etc) have different filter factors. Is the polarizing effect independent of that factor? Or to state it a different way, does the filter have two effects - polarizing & neutral density? So would a CP filter with a lower (smaller) filter factor be just as effective at the polarizing effect as one with a larger (bigger) filter factor?

A: That is actually a great question. My main experience is with B&W HTC polarizers and the Hoya HD3's. The Hoya HD3 has become my favorite polarizer because it is so bright and easy to use. I'm not sure if the degree of polarization is the same because of the extra brightness, but it works SO well that it does not seem to matter if there is a small loss in any way. Also, the HD3 goes very nicely from warm to cool as you rotate it which is very useful. When I go back to my B&W polarizer it works well only on bright days when there is a lot of light - so to put it bluntly, the HD3 will spoil you in every way and is worth the money.

Q: 8. will these accept any magnetic lens caps (sensei/Haida/etc) or are they specific to Case?

A: The Kase Skyeye Magnetic Circular Polarizer Filter with Magnetic Adapter Ring (82mm) is only compatible with the Kase 82mm Skyeye Magnetic Lens Cap.

Q: 9. Is the Kase wolverine glass substrate the same as their other filters (Schott B270) except chemically strengthen?

A: we do not have this level of information. It is made of optical glass.

Q: 10. I purchased this filter as part of a Kase kit. It appears to be one piece of glass. It was always my understanding that polarizers were two piece of glass with one rotating and giving you ability to dial in polarization. How does this work with only one piece of glass?

A: The front element of a circular polarizer contains the foil that does the polarization, and the secondary element is sometimes simply a quarter wave plate (which aids in turning the now linearly polarized light back into circularly polarized light) or simply a mounting element/frame. In this case, the Kase Wolverine CPL will spin on its magnetic filter holder and doesn't employ a quarter wave plate or mounting frame.

[0.175 lb] This is my first magnetic filter. I like the idea that I can easily add/remove the filters and not have to screw in the filter each time. A big deal when using ND filters. The Kase polarizer works great with ease of adjustment for intensity.

[Glass] When I tried to use my magnetic filters on one of my lenses I realized they wouldn't fit (designed for 77mm). B&H had the adapter I needed at a great price and got it to me quickly. 100% satisfied.

[Steel] I really like what Kase has done with their magnetic filters! It doesn't get much easier than this and the quality seems to be holding up well (I have several other Kase filters I use for other lenses). The only comment I have is the vignette, which if you're like me doesn't count many points off because I usually prefer a vignette in my photos. However, there are times where I don't want the vignette and that could be an issue for some. For me, I just remove the vignette in photoshop and move on. For the price and ease of use this is a great buy. Go for it!

[Glass] Adapters for every lens filter threads, so you're ready to go no matter which filter you choose. I have an adapter on each of my main lenses. No screwing and unscrewing to use the filters on different lenses.
