Keyboard and mouse emulation mimics the connection between a computer and your devices to keep your equipment in constant connection. This prevents the connected systems from accidentally disconnecting your devices and prompting a system reset.

Support for multiple displays with dual-head design allows you to expand your system's screen real estate so you can work on more complex programs per system.

For advanced control methods, you can use various RS-232 commands with terminal applications.

[2] I have this switch set up to allow me to switch between a Retina MacBook Pro and my tower gaming PC with Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card, and it performs the job very well. Previously I had a similar setup using an IOGear DVI+USB KVM switch between MacBook Pro and my older tower PC, with just a DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter on the video cable to the Mac. For the new setup I bought a DisplayPort-to-mini-DisplayPort cable for the Mac (could have used an adapter but the cable was $10 and it's less... lumpy... this way.) I've only been using it for a week or so, but it's working great! Comes with all cables, which seem to be solid quality, and fully bus-powered - small and light but seems well made. The older IOGear DVI+USB2 switch wasn't as expensive as this when it was new, but I guess that's the price I pay for going 4K. I did my usual research on all available DisplayPort + USB switch options before selecting this one, and I'm pretty sure I made the right choice here. If you're trying to drive a 2K or 4K monitor from two DisplayPort-equipped machines and share a mouse and keyboard between them, this is the ticket.

[2] I have had the SV340D since 2020 and its extremely stable between a mix of Linux and Windows (now just Linux) systems. I don't use dual head anymore, since displays are so big, so if buying today I would have likely gone with the single head model & saved quite a bit.

The only problem Ive had is HDMI, like me, sticking around for much longer than I expected.

p.s. if you are converting from HDMI to DP KVM you might want to consider either the universal video interface model, which can handleDP, HDMI, and DVI-D (with an adapter cable) or the conversion cable, both from Vertiv. Common HDMI to DP and Thunderbolt to DP active cables work fine with static displays but not with any KVMs that I have ever seen or heard about.

[2] Make sure to actually use the usb output that matches the computer your are testing your mouse+keyboard with. I had the keyboard+mouse not working like some mentioned in other comments/reviews. I contacted the support team which helped me make it work correctly. It's silly but we never know what would have with lack of coffee :) .

[AC Adapter] I would recommend this to anyone with dual monitors and two pc’s. The only issue I had was that Windows 7 kept adjusting the displays when I switched between computers. It was a real annoyance to find all my windows, icons and screen resolutions messed up every time I switched. I finally after about a week of annoyances found a setting in my catalyst control center to disable display polling which fixed the problem for me.

[Yes] Since I only needed this for video and keyboard, I haven't tested the way in which it handles audio. But for my needs (switching between Mac Pro 5,1 and a Macbook Pro) it works fine. I did need two adapters to go from Display Port to Mini Display Port.

[Yes] I have had this product for nearly 3 years - simple to set up, switches between Mac & PC with two 2560x1440 displays and logitech wireless mouse / keyboard. Super easy to use - couldn't have hoped for a more trouble-free better product.

[12 VDC at 2 A] So far so good. We have this installed with 4 of our computers and use this to manage 8 inputs in our virtual studio. Very happy to have this all be managed with one mouse and keyboard!

[Yes] Switch worked perfect out of the box. It was purchased mainly to take care of workstation and laptop being connected to the same monitor (ASUS) through DisplayPort. Bonus - now I can use same keyboard. Works great so far.
