$5,400.00 $7,398.00

Add a rear anamorphic adapter to convert your 16:9 frame lens into a 2:35:1 cinematic widescreen frame with this PL-to-PL Venus Optics OOOM Adapter Kit 1.33x Anamorphic 1.4x Full-Frame PLfrom Venus Optics. The adapter mounts onto the rear of the OOOM 25 to 100mm T2.9 PL-mount cine zoom lens and maintains the PL mount for your camera.

The adapter creates 1.33x anamorphic squeeze to create the widescreen frame, but it does not feature any oval bokeh or expanded field of view as front adapters do. However, it does create extra artifacts and flares for a more cinematic look. There is a 0.5 stop decrease in light into the sensor when using the adapter. It is lightweight at 9.5 oz, has an 89mm diameter, measures 2.2" in length, and features a 29mm image circle.

The rear anamorphic adapter is also compatible with other S35 lenses, see the list below, and a measurement PDF is available to measure whether it fits different lenses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone tried using this with the Tilta Mirage Matte Box? Is there a way to clamp it on or does it only work with rails? I notice it says it has a 95mm thread, but a 100mm front.

A: The Tilta Mirage VND Kit fits on lenses 95mm or smaller. Unfortunately, the Venus Optics Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine Lens is 100mm so the matte box will not fit.

Q: 2. is this Venus Optics Laowa 1.4x Full Frame Expander compatible with sigma cine zooms (18-35mm & 50-100m)?

A: No it is not.

Q: 3. Does anyone know how many shims are required to get this to focus properly and stay parfocal on the EF mount? Tried it with 2 shims for the EF mount (on a komodo with the canon VND adapter) and the focus got thrown off when zooming out.

A: From what we understand, you're using the Venus Optics Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine Lens Bundle (Feet) (B&H# VEO2510029BF) with the included EF mount, and also the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter (B&H# CAMAEFRFDIND). While the lens is intended to be adapted using the included adapters, connections between those adapters and even minute differences between adapters and especially their fit can result in the lens being significantly less than parfocal. That's also true of the distance of the sensor relative to that of the mount of a camera. We'd recommend using the lens with a strong lens support, and also making sure that the procedure you're using for shimming it is appropriate. In particular, since your question was how many shims to use, please note that not all shims used for adjusting the flange distance of a lens are necessarily of the same thickness. Here's a popular video on the topic of shimming a lens: https://bit.ly/3u0rnim

Q: 4. Will it work on the Canon 8-64mm T2.4?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 1.4x Full-Frame Expander (PL to PL) is only intended for use with the Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9. The Canon 8-64mm T2.4 s16 lens would likely not work with it. Even if it could mount, there would be significant vignetting as the adapter is meant for a super 35 lens.

Q: 5. Would this work with the Proteus lens series from Venus?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa 1.33x Rear Anamorphic Adapter (PL-to-PL) is not desnged to work with the Proteus lens series. Laowa recommends using the Laowa 1.4x Full-Frame Expander (PL to PL). Venus Optics Laowa 1.4x Full-Frame Expander (PL to PL) BH #VEL14FFEPL

Q: 6. If used with a full frame lens and sensor will it cover?

A: this product is designed for VERY SPECIFIC LENSES. Here is the list of compatible lenses from the manufacturer Angenieux 28–340mm Optimo Zoom T3.2 Angenieux 24–290mm Optimo Zoom T2.8 Angenieux Optimo Style 16–40mm T2.8 Zoom Angenieux Optimo Style 30–76mm T2.8 Zoom Carl Zeiss Supreme Prime 25 mm T1.5 Carl Zeiss Supreme Prime 29 mm T1.5 Carl Zeiss Supreme Prime 35 mm T1.5 Carl Zeiss Supreme Prime 50 mm T1.5 Carl Zeiss Supreme Prime 85 mm T1.5 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 15mm T2.9 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 18 mm T2.9 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 25 mm T2.1 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 28 mm T2.1 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 35 mm T2.1 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 50 mm T2.1 Carl Zeiss Compact Prime 85 mm T2.1 ARRI 18–80mm Alura Studio Zoom T2.6 ARRI 45–250MM T2.6

Q: 7. Does this include lens support? If not, is it fit screw size with ARRI LS-9?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine Lens (PL Mount, Feet) has a thread to accept a 15mm rod lens support like the Axler 15mm Rod Bridge Adapter BH #AXRAB15LWS • MFR #RAB-15LWS

Q: 8. Would this work with the Atlas Orion?

A: I tis not known if the Venus Optics Laowa 1.4x Full-Frame Expander (PL to PL) works with Atlas Orion Series lenses. One check you can do is use this simple gauge. If the lens' rear element clears this gauge, it is likely the lens will work. Only testing will tell for sure.

Q: 9. Would this work with my PL Nanomorphs?

A: Unfortunately, no the Venus Optics Laowa 1.4x Full-Frame Expander (PL to PL) does not support, the Venus Optics Laowa Nanomorph S35 Prime lens models. .

Q: 10. Will it work on an Amira? Are the ND's in the way?

A: the rear anamorphic adapter includes a measurement tool to determine compatibility, they do not provided a list of compatible cameras or lenses and state that compatibility is determined on a case by case measurement basis.

[4.565 lb] very good balancing between clinical precision and anamorphic identify. I bought 2. Wish i bought the set at one time.

[ARRI PL Mount] A true S35 PL cine zoom under 5K. What's not to like besides the ooom name? A bit of CA in bright highlights and softening at full telephoto but otherwise this so-called vintage look zoom lens is noteworthy and a bargain during B&H holiday sale. PL mount parfocal right out of the box. Breathing minimal. Sharpness held up against a set of Xeen cine primes (T4). Not for small rigs. Lens is heavy and requires lens support. Solid build and 4x factor makes it feel like a real cine zoom lens. Overall really nice and no significant difference between this zoom lens and others costing way much more.

[4.565 lb] Coming from spherical lenses - the price tag might seems high - especially for a relatively unknown brand. But it’s actually very affordable compared to the competition !
Anything cheaper for full frame will fake some of the characteristic of anamorphic lenses, and have no or very low squeeze. I wish it had a 2x squeeze - but the 1.8 squeeze probably allow to slightly more affordable price - while being optimal for 16:9 sensors, that are most likely what you’ll use it on...
Paired with a A7siii the image quality is amazing !
I recommend pairing this with a monitor that allow you to see the desqueezed image, as it can be fairly hard to focus without it, and framing as well can be challenging.
For an anamorphic lens, it’s very sharp, even wide open, I mostly shoot at T4 though mostly because it can be challenging to nail focus with this kind of lenses, as they’re slightly softer than spherical (not in a bad way, image is very pleasing), similar to using a light diffusion filter.
Overall, I totally recommend this lens, hopefully we see a 2x version soon too !
Also, if you’re in a limited budget, I would recommend the 40mm MFT version paired with a Blackmagic pocket 4K... the package would come to $4500 vs $12000... for a little more than 1/3 of the price, result is very close. The A7siii has an edge in low light obviously but if you’re using even minimal lighting (which you should), it shouldn’t be an issue. The blackmagic has the advantage of having a bigger screen - easier to manually focus without monitor.
Both are fantastic combos - and a lot cheaper than Cooke paired with an Alexa ...

[ARRI PL Mount] I bought a set of Viltrox anamorphic lenses, which are amazing, but I wanted something smaller and lighter for my FX6/Ronin 4D. These Blazar lenses are a lot of fun. I only have the 65 so far, which I find wide enough for most situations without having the issues in the corners that the 45 had. Waiting to try out their new ones, I just need something slightly wider and another slightly tighter. Waiting to hear what they say about the new additions.

[4.565 lb] After looking at the other options around the price point. The OOOM checks more boxes, solid performer, not too clinical, but has nice character

[4.565 lb] I have a set of Sony CineAlta lenses that work with this really well. Any lens that has a ~14mm or shorter protrusion from the PL mount tabs will fit. The lenses are clinically sharp, and it doesn't look like any of that sharpness is really lost with this. I recently took this in to Atlas to try their anamorphic lenses alongside, and they have definitely a look whereas this preserves the look one gets from the taking lenses. The flares are very spherical, and the bokeh is round until you get to the edge of the view. It's fun to use, and the guys at Atlas thought it was cool. I recently shot a movie with this and the CineAlta lenses, and it all went well.
