A: That is true and why I sent it back. Get the Schneider 82mm True-Match Vari-ND Filter instead. It does not do that due to it's type of construction. Although more money, it is worth it.

A: I suspect you would get 'some' vignetting, but don't have actual experience with this combination.

A: B+W make very high quality filters. This will give you a great performance when used on lens with the X5.

However, for all other sizes the front filter size is larger than the back side that screws on to the lens. A: definitely not!! the rear thread of the filter is 95mm, however the front thread of the filter is 105mm

A: I Can screw my B+W 77mm XS-Por ND-Vario 1-5 MRC nano into a NIKON 77mm Circular Polar 77mm filter and screw that on to my camera lens. The B+W XS-Pro does not have threads on its front side.McKinley
