Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. 2 part- do the dimensions fall under the 62 inches for checked bags and would I be able to fit 2 tripod (40 & 35 inches) and 2 light stands?

A: Yes, the exterior dimensions would add up below a 62 inch limit.

Q: 2. How thick is the padding? Can this be used for an airport check in?

A: Based on years of airline travel with camera and lighting equipment, we cannot recommend any bag for airline checked baggage. Please consider hard cases.

Q: 3. How many regular light stands could this carry?

A: We currently use 3 heavy-duty Avenger light stands in there, with plenty of room to spare. I think you could easily get 2 more of these large stands in with no problem. If you're talking about smaller, thinner stands, I'd estimate 7-8 or more. My one piece of advice would be to get the version of this bag with wheels. We did not and it can get pretty heavy and bulky real quick.

Q: 4. How many of B&H # MASSLIDER could I fit in here? Collapsed, the stand is 25.5" and 16" in diameter at its widest point.

A: The bag should hold 2-3 stands.

Q: 5. Is this color still available? Is not discontinued anymore?

A: This product is currently available for sale on our website.

Q: 6. I'd love to see a picture of one of these bags filled with a tripod and a couple of light stands?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not provided us with a photo of the bag showing tripods and light stands inside of it. You may contact them directly to see if one is available. Here is a link to their contact page. http://bit.ly/2oEal9l

Q: 7. Can this comfortably fit a Sachtler 100mm Flowtech Tripod with a Sachtler V18P tripod head attached to it? I have ordered and tried the PortaBrace TLQB-35, (the 35" bag) and I can not close the bag because of the tripod head.

A: Yes this bag should fit your tripod.

Q: 8. Is this case good for protecting a tripod and other items inside when checking it for air travel?

A: For higher tripod protection demand we suggest the HPRC 6300 HPRC 6300 Wheeled Hard Resin Case with Tripod Holder Kit (Black) BH #HP6300WTRIBK • MFR #HPRC6300WTRIBLB https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1618169-REG/hprc_hprc6300wtriblb_6300_wheeled_rolling_resin.html

Q: 9. Will this case hold a Vinten Vision 100 tripod head with Vinten 2 stage legs? The legs and head are 34.5 inches long, but the head with arms are 9-inches wide. The head front/back is 7-inches. Does the bag flex some? I notice that the top of the bag collapses when it is zipped? What is the height when zipped?

A: It would be best to use the Vinten bag designed for that tripod and head https://bhpho.to/2NwubRx.

Q: 10. Would Kupo Midi Click stands fit?

A: The PortaBrace TLQ-35 Quick Tripod/Light Case (Signature Blue) can accommodate stands up to 34.5" long, while the Kupo Midi Click Stand has a folded length of 35", so it officially would not fit.

[Empty] I have three of these bags in varying length, however the 35 is my go to bag, and has been for 15years. Endless international travel to some of the nastiest places in Africa, flying with the most dubious of carriers, and the PortaBrace TLQ35 is still in one piece and still working.

I carry a Gitzo systematic series 3 tripod & head, two manfrotto stacker stands, and a few umbrellas, grips etc. The bag itself weighs in at 2,3kgs and packed it is around 12kgs.

I can't recommend this bag enough, and only the blue one...! I would pay twice the asking amount for a new one.

[Empty] Bought one today, easily fits 2 Kupo Midi Click stands, Godox AD-S85, AD-S60, 2 x AD-300 Pro and much more!

Very comfy strap, heavy duty bag but the only downside is the bag is rather heavy and when full loaded, would break my back.

[Empty] Like every other PortBrace case I own, this is not a bag or a case, it is a fortress. Their stuff is so strong, padded, well sized. You know your gear will last. I do have one observation... the handles are in the middle, and with a tripod, the weight is down by the head. It means when carrying over the shoulder with the strap and head down, it is perfect. When picking it up by the handles, it wants to point at the ground. I wish the handles were offset even 6 inches or so.

[Zipper] All PortaBrace products that I own have been incredible. I especially love this bag. The doctor bag style opening is much better that other tripod bags and cases I have used. Also the build quality is superb. Highly recommend.

[Zipper] very sturdy without adding too much weight. using this with the huge Gitzo and Arca head. nice to have some pockets for accessories.

[Yes] This bag is way bulkier than I expected, which is on me for not reading the specs in more detail. I wish Portabrace made a model half as wide on the bottom, but at the same length and height, as at this size it's quite uncomfortable and unwieldy to carry on public transit or while walking if full, both with the weight and bulk, and that's using all aluminum and carbon fiber gear. Even after trying a few strap orientations and lengths, it still sits uncomfortably on my side due to the wide flat bottom (can't put it across my back because I'm using a camera backpack to haul the rest of my gear). I just think this thing holds more gear than an average person should safely carry with a strap more than, say, half a mile, which is not ideal for an urban videographer, unless you spend your free time as a bodybuilder.

If I were buying again, I would get one of their models with wheels, or maybe the 35 which appears to be less tall too, but not narrower. Most of the time I leave this stationary as gear storage at home and for gigs just use several smaller, narrower bags, distributed evenly across my shoulders.

Positives, the build quality is superb, everything seems very well reinforced and put together. The inner straps for holding gear down are brilliant. The thicker outer pocket is brilliant for sticking mic cables (easily fits a dozen). The padded carrying strap, while a bit hard to figure out the optimal connections at first, is quite effective at not being painful even with a heavy load. People saying they use these bags for their entire career makes total sense to me, and I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of this... just not at full capacity.
