The Tiffen 105mm Clear Filter for Photographyis a simple, clear filter with a 1x filter factor and is designed to provide general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping to prevent dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from reaching or damaging your lens. This filter features standard coating for helping to reduce flare and improve light transmission.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

A: I don't know about Sony lenses, but this has the standard threads (I put it on a Tamron 60mm macro lens) that work like my other filters on other lenses.. It should work unless Sony has differing threading.

A: Yes, so long as it is the same filter thread size. If you use an 82mm UV protective filter, you can use an 82mm ND.

A: The filter does not add any additional width to the front of your lens. If you can get your lens hood over the end of your lens without the filter, you should be able to do the same thing with the filter.

[Aluminum] Tiffen always makes solid filters and this is a great piece of protection for your lens! Still transmits color super well and has almost no huge impact on your final image. Purchase either this or a UV filter to protect your lense. 5

[Clear] For years I have used Tiffen filters on all my lenses. Over the past 4 years they have saved me thousands of dollars by protecting my lenses. While putting my camera on a tripod I did not get it as secure as I thought and my camera fell off the tripod. I know it was stupid, but I tend to focus more on what I am trying to photograph rather than my equipment. On two separate occasions the camera fell to the ground, once on a concrete floor. Both times the camera landed on the front of the lenses breading the glass in the filter. Fortunately for me the filters absorbed the brunt of the impact. I removed the broken filters and continued my photo shoot. Once I had to change lenses until I could get some tools to remove the filter because it was bent making it too tight to remove by hand. In addition, I like to keep my lenses clean. I find it protects the expensive coatings on my Nikon lenses. I would rather clean a filter than be constantly rubbing chemicals on the front element of my lenses. 5
