43mm 3-stop Ice Soft-edge Graduated Nd Filter

$59.85 $94.56

This 43mm 43mm 3-Stop Ice Soft-Edge Graduated ND Filterhelps darken specific areas of an image while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other parts. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the two areas. This filter is particularly useful for images that do not have a strongly defined transition between the sky and foreground.

The filter features glass optics and an aluminum filter ring threaded on both sides. A rotating ring allows precise positioning of the gradation along the horizon line.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this filter on a Pentax 18 - 135 mm?

A: As the Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR Lens, B&H # PE18135, uses 62mm front filter threads, yes, the Tiffen 62mm Circular Polarizing Filter, B&H # TICP62, would be compatible for use with the Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR Lens.

Q: 2. Is this the proper size filter for my Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm lens?

A: Yes it is the proper size filter.

Q: 3. With the wide angle version, can you still put your lens cap on while this filter is on the lens, or would you have to take it off to apply the lens cap?

A: You may be able to use it with a lens cap but it's entirely dependent on how the lens cap is designed and how it attaches.

Q: 4. quiero pedir el lente de 46mm , el costo del envio se paga al recibir o se calcula para pagar con el lente?

A: I believe that B&H charges all fees at the time of purchase. For confirmation please contact B&H customer service at 800 894-9703

Q: 5. Fit on tamron 28-75 lens?

A: Yes, the Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Filter will fit on Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens (Sony E).

Q: 6. Just purchased the B+W 77mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter B&H # BWKCPMC77 and also have this Tiffen UV protector filter. Does the B+W Polarizer simply replaces this filter and acts as a UV Protector -or- can you mount on top of the Tiffen filter. Any benefits of doing this. It seems that if one were to do this there would be issues with.......?

A: The Tiffen serves as your protection for all general purposes. As much as the Kaesemann filter costs, I personally would put the Tiffen on the outside to protect it, or just leave the Tiffen off when using the polarizer for the optimal results. I would not recommend leaving the Circular Polarizer on for all occasions as it causes 2-stops of light loss (which is not usefull for most indoor/low light situations) and is mostly only useful in outdoor situations.

Q: 7. will this fit my nikon 50mm lens?

A: This filter will fit any lens with a 58mm filter thread. This is the diameter of the lens, not to be confused with the focal length which is 50mm for your lens.

Q: 8. Considering how cheap this filter is, would I be able to put this on my 24-105mm and have the quality and sharpness remain the same?

A: I believe any filter added to a lens lowers the quality but not enough to be noticeable unless you are really pixel peeking. That being said, I can detect no loss of quality with this filter. I use it on my Nikon 16-35 for landscapes without hesitation.

Q: 9. Is the glass element removable? Is it held in with glue, or a screw-type locking ring or c-clip?

A: No, the glass is not designed to be removed. It is enclosed by the specifically sized aluminum frame.

Q: 10. Hello, would this fit the Nikon COOLPIX B700 Digital Camera? If not, which size would? Thanks!

A: I I do not know. Sorry!

[0.115 lb] This filter has been great on my recent trip to the mountains. In the past, I've had to deal with all the normal issues - over exposed clouds, under exposed mountain sides, you name it. This filter has really helped me keep the details in both the sky and the mountains that really help me show the unbelievable beauty of the area.

[43 mm] I use this filter for scenery photography, where part of the area to be photographed is over exposed. I can't image going in the field with this filter.

[43 mm] I have just had the filter for a few days so I haven't given it a thorough test. However, I did take a few shots and got very pleasing results. I was shooting into a forest with a pretty bright sky. The forest was nicely exposed and the sky was excellent with lots of good cloud detail. The fact that the filter has a rotation ring made it possible to shoot in both portrait and landscape modes. I did not see any problem with color shift.
I believe that I will be keeping it on the lens when doing landscape photography.

[Aluminum] This filter is optically correct and does not distort anything on my 28-300mm Nikkor or my 17-35mm Nikkor on sunrise and sunset shots or shots with a bright sky that needs damping down. I'm very pleased with the results and I believe it performs just as well as more expensive filters I have purchased from other sources in the past.

[Aluminum] This is a big, heavy, tough filter. I think this will be the last ND filter I will ever buy. Kinda surprised how thick 4mm is. Wouldn't shock me if it was bullet proof. Glad I went with the glass filter, I had plastic filters ,they are cheap, but scratches too easily.

[Glass] Did not expect too much considering the price, but this filter appears to be just fine. Its quality is good and picture quality is exactly what one would expect from a graduated ND filter. I thought .9 (3 stops) would be a little too much filter for landscapes, but its just about right.
