If you don't want to change your tripod,just change the new model heads that QS-36 mountable. So you can continiue to use the legs of old tripod. Once I did the same with my old Slik, kept the legs and changed the head with a new model. Many tripods have 3/8 screw to hold the heads in place.

A: Yes, there is a locking mechanism for the Leofoto QS-45 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set (45mm). When one drops the connecting plate on the receiver base, one then turns the ring on the receiver base clockwise to lock the plate in place. To unlock, simply turn the ring counter clockwise. This is similar to the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link but they run in different sizes. The QS-45 is 45mm and much smaller than the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link size.
