The RRS TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate for Camerasfrom RRS TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate for Camerasis a 2.1" diameter round plate that allows a tripod head to be mounted to most Arca-type compatible clamps. The contour of the round dovetail plate matches the base of either a ball head or gimbal head, outfitting the head with an Arca-type rail on the base. This allows the head to mount to a leveling base or other device with a compatible clamp in order to quickly change tripod heads when working with different disciplines. Made of durable CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum with a Type-II black anodized finish, the TH-DVTL-40 accepts any round tripod head base whose diameter does not exceed 2".

A: Yes, people do use the Losmandy Universal Dovetail Plate (14"), to mount an OTA onto the Celestron CGX-L mount.

A: After consulting with B&H Pro Video department it is very doubtful that the Losmandy will work on the Sachtler head

[1.3 oz / 37 g] Bought this accessory to mount to the swivel base of a Wimberley WH-200 gimbal. It fits great, and with a dab of blue 242 LocTite, isn't going to come loose. You pay a little more for RRS equipment but it's truly worth the extra investment. 5
