Chimera engineers have produced a modern version of Dean Collins' popular Lightform panels using 5/8" aluminum alloy tubing. These frames, which are compact and rigid enough to use outdoors, allow you to instantly create your choice of diffusion, nets and/ or bounce fill in seconds, without the use of tools.

A specially designed pin-grip system on the frames allows you to set and lock the frames in place with a single standard 2" grip head with no slipping.

The heavy-duty internal bungy cord keeps the frame segments together during storage and travel, and aids in super-fast setups.

A: The frame closes down to 36" lenght's. The duffle case is 48" long, 8" wide, & 4" high.

A: B&H # CHFP.5G4272 is the correct replacement item you'll need.

Q: 7. Will this work with a Chimera Triolet light fixture?

A: Specifically with a Chimera 9890QR Quick Release Speed Ring

[1.9 lb] I use an adapter to plug in 2 large 75w fluorescent bulbs. Nice soft light. Great for tabletop shoots. The stand is very sturdy and so is the boom arm. Very happy with the purchase. 5

[1.9 lb] I got this to use for my architecture photography. It fills the room with soft even light. There are no harsh shadows created whatsoever. I'm using them with my 500w Lowel Omni kit and it has proved to be an invaluable tool in my Arsenal. 5

[1.9 lb] I took a lighting class last Spring, where cinematographer taught us to light various types of scenes. He turned us on to the usefulness of China Ball type lights, for interior scenes where you are trying to create a warm, flattering sort of look. I bought a couple of the Chimera Lanterns and have been very pleased with them. Put a dimmer on them, and they have become my go to lights for these types of scenes. Not only do they give you a bright and very diffuse light, but there is something about the spherical shape that is also very pleasing. They can mimic a motivated ceiling light for example. They are not necessarily intuitive to assemble, but once you get used to it, they are not too bad. I'm very very pleased with the Cimera Lanterns. 5
