Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with an Olympus PT-056 housing for a TG-4?

A: The Kraken Sports KRL-11 Standard Wide-Angle Lens 90 (M52 Thread) is not compatible with the Olympus PT-056 Underwater Housing for Tough TG-3 Digital Camera.

Q: 2. is it compatible with canon legria HF M506?what differencies between this model and Canon WD-H43 43mm 0.7x Wide Angle Converter Lens ?

A: should work fine if it's a 43mm front filter thread - I have this on my M500's and they are great - very very good lens for the money. I bought a Helder, but it was a LOT more money, a little bit better quality, esp the build, but this lens for under $25 is s steal. - The Canon lens is very nice, but way overpriced for what it is. plus it's only about 1/2 as wide, since it's .7x vs .45x However, at .7x you won't notice any introduction of the fish eye effect, where this one just starts to show that, but is about as wide as you can go without really noticing that.

Q: 3. Do you have to Burp it underwater?

A: The Backscatter No Burp O-rings (BS-M52-o-rings) are not compatible with the Backscatter M52 Air Lens. They are used with the BS-UWL-M52 Wide Angle Conversion Lens. The Backscatter M52 Wide-Angle Air Lens for Olympus PT Series Underwater Housings BH #BABSM52AIR, as with any wet mount lens, it is always a good idea to burp it once you have gotten into the water. The Backscatter M52 Wide Angle Air lens is no exception to that. The Air Lens does have larger cutouts on the back plate that does allow water to flow through very easily which in some cases make it unnecessary to burp the lens. With the lens attached to the camera housing, once you re in the water you can shake the camera housing with lens attached, and that should blow off any air bubbles that may have formed on the lens or the housing. The Backscatter No Burp O-rings (BS-M52-o-rings) are not compatible with the Backscatter M52 Air Lens. They are used with the BS-UWL-M52 Wide Angle Conversion Lens.

Q: 4. The original M52 from backscatter comes with fiber optic cable adapter. Is it included in the box?

A: Yes, the Backscatter M52 Wide-Angle Air Lens for Olympus PT Series Underwater Housings comes with the Fiber Optic Cable Adapter.

Q: 5. How much does it weigh?

A: The weight would be about 3.2 ounces

Q: 6. Is the lens glass or acrylic?

A: The Backscatter M52 Underwater Wide-Angle Wet Lens uses glass lens elements.

Q: 7. Will it work on the Fantasea FA6500 housing with a6300 camera? And will it fit one of Fantasea Bayonrt adaptores?

A: Yes, this Kraken Sports KRL-01 Underwater Wide-Angle Conversion Lens with 67mm Mount, would work with the Fantasea FA6500 housing with a6300 camera.

Q: 8. Is it a wet lens?

A: The Backscatter M52 Wide-Angle Air Lens for Olympus PT Series Underwater Housings is a wet lens that has 52mm filter threads. This lens is perfect for the Olympus TG series cameras in the Olympus housing.

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with the sea frogs housing for the TG6?

A: Yes, the Backscatter M52 Underwater Wide-Angle Wet Lens is compatible with the sea frogs housing for the TG6.

Q: 10. I plan on using this with a Canon Vixia HF R800. Is there a good lens hood you can recommend for this setup?

A: Unfortunately the Vivitar 0.43x Wide Angle Lens Attachment will not have front filter threading for a hood attachment.

[52 mm] I have only had a chance to use it in the pool, but it seems great. Can get cliser to subject and get more in photo. Quality of picture seems the same as without the lens, so that’s good!! Can’t wait to try it in the ocean.

[0.72x] First time I’ve ever been impressed with a lens right away. Super sharp and the blacks are really nice.
Only used 2-3 times but it’s already a keeper.

[Wide Angle Lens] Thiss lens should be standard equipment. I tried it and both the wide angle and the macro are great. Very well made, providing a sharp image an a nice wide angle without distortion. Great price too.

[0.72x] The 11-20 ATX is a great wide angle geared cine lens, it matches close enough to the Tokina Vista Primes, which is nice for swapping for a lighter and smaller rig for gimbal shots inside cars and tight spaces. The added threaded filters are perfect for not needing to use a matte box to drop in ND’s saving more space and weight. The FIZ rings have the perfect amount of resistance and are butter smooth. Focus rotation from it’s closest point to infinity is about 300 degrees, so doing a smooth pull will be much easier with a remote focus unit. Lastly not a lot of distortion in its widest, and it’s almost non existent at 20.

[52 mm] Lines are great! almost no warping - astonishingly aspherical— superior to the previous generation 11-16mm. Good on 4k, but low resolution image starts to show itself when wide open. T4/5.6 is the super sweet spot. Great bang for the buck.

[0.72x] I needed something wider than my Fujinon MK 18-55, took the chance on this lens.
I was a bit concerned with color matching but it actually pairs wonderfully with it. Its a bit heavy, but not surprising considering the amount of glass. construction quality is great and the IRND comes in handy on my B camera kits.
