A: NO. MOTU products are not yet qualified for use with the new M1-powered Macs. The M2 and M4 bus-powered USB audio interfaces are compatible with macOS Big Sur as USB audio class compliant devices, allowing plug-and-play operation with no driver installation needed. A driver will soon be available that provides lower latency performance, loopback channels and Core Audio volume control under macOS Big Sur.

Q: 3. Is there a mobile app for controlling the monitoring mix like on FocusRite interfaces? Or is that available only on the higher end interfaces?

A: No, a mobile control app is not available for use with the M4. MOTU does offer mobile apps for several of their larger, higher-end interface models.

Q: 4. can this work via a powered usb hub? i ony have one usb-c port and need to power my computer.

A: It is recommended that you use a powered USB hub.

A: On the M2, there is no specific way to control the mix of direct monitor and computer audio. On the M4, there is an Input Monitor Mix knob which will allow you to control the blend.

Q: 8. Is the M4 compatible with Apple's M1 Computers?

A: Not yet compatible with M1 chips.

Q: 9. is it possible to listen to a microphone plugged into the left channel through both left and right sides of my headphones, or send one mic into both channels?

A: It is possible to monitor channel one through both sides of your headphones with this interface. The Input Monitor Mix button will send a mono input to both channel outputs. As well, if monitoring from a DAW, a mono channel in the DAW will playback in both ears.

Q: 10. I have a MOTU Traveller firewire unit but no longer firewire connectivity. Is there a way to feed the Traveler into this unit so I can use the additional inputs?
