[Fan] I use this with the Gemini 1x1 hard. That light draws a lot. I first tried this single plate with the batteries I had and it could not keep the light on at full power for long. So I returned it and bought the double plate. But for travel, the double takes more space, so after some research, I gave the single plate another change. You need a battery with high draw. The Anton Bauer 243w T batteries won't handle it, because they only go up to 12a, but the Core SWX 293 can reach 16a peak, so it can handle the light at full power just fine. I hear the Anton Bauer XT batteries can also handle it, because they have a high draw. Doesn't really matter the WH of the battery, that just determines for how long. Just make sure your batteries can go past 12a.

[Yes] Super versatile light. No problem putting it through diffusion or using as a powerful background pop. The colors and effect are an obvious advantage too.

[50,000 Hours] Just when I thought the Litepanels Astra6X was the answer to my 1x1 LED prayers, the Gemini Hard was announced. I've been using the Gemini Hard fixture for a few months and couldn't be happier with the power and versatility it provides. With more output power than the Astra6X, shooting through a fully baffled lightbank, silk, or gridcloth provides an outstanding amount of light. The CRI is the same high quality you'd expect from a LitePanels LED. The RGB functionality is also a plus if you need to use the Gemini as a gel source for a color splash, or if you need to add some minus green or magneta to help match ambient lighting. The fixture is simple to use, the dimming is effective down to 1%, and the build quality is outstanding.

[56.5 lb] I travel quite a bit and I have tried out a variety of key lights over the years to not much success. 

But I've been using the Gemini 1x1 and a DoP 3' Octabank as of late and it's the best travel-friendly keylight combination I've ever used. That combination is so soft on faces and still packs plenty of a punch to balance and expose in heavy natural light scenarios.

I've taken this light on dozens of flights and it travels extremely well and works so great for documentary applications. You never know the space you're getting to until you arrive and this covers you in all areas. If you also find yourself in unpredictable locations more often than not, this light will be your best friend.

Any piece of gear is an investment not just financially but in yourself. This light has improved my quality of work and that alone was worth it. Probably need to pick up a second one soon!

[46°] This is such a wonderful light. Remove the diffusers and two of these can light up a person in the shade when the background is in full sun. But the best thing is that because it's an RGB light, the skin tones are lovely.
