The black Rokinon 300mm f/6.3 ED UMC Lens for Sony Eis a mirror lens designed specifically for use on Sony E mount mirrorless cameras. The lens' Cassegrain design enables it to achieve a 450mm 35mm-equivalent focal length perspective within a compact and lightweight lens design that is significantly smaller than a traditional 300mm lens. It features a fixed f/6.3 aperture and utilizes manual focus operation for focusing as closely as 2.95'.

One extra-low dispersion element and the inherent mirror construction of the lens work to eliminate chromatic aberrations while providing notable image sharpness and clarity. Furthermore, the UMC (Ultra Multi Coated) coating has been applied to reduce surface reflections, lens flare, and ghosting while also contributing to improved overall contrast.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. i am knew to this so that being said is this lens good for zooming in from a far distance?

A: This is a telephoto lens, so yes, it is used to shoot from far distances.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with a LUMIX g85?

A: The manual focus Rokinon Reflex 300mm f/6.3 ED UMC CS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount (Black) is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix G85 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 3. how much space there is between the REAR 25.5mm threads and the outside of the mount? I would like to use my existing AP filters which would require putting an adapter on the rear threads.

A: Please direct your inquiry to Rokinon; RokinonDistributed By - ELITE BRANDS INC.Tel: (800) 441-1100 Website http://www.rokinon.com/ Email support@rokinon.com

Q: 4. This lens is a full frame lens and will work with the Sony A7s correct?

A: It can work on the a7s but you need a Sony adaptor.

Q: 5. Is this a good lens to capture my son in marching band on the football field? Night performances under lights. Will this work on my 7d camera?

A: This is a fix focal length and manual focusing lens with a preatty small aperture it will be compatible with your canon 7d , but for a moving object in a low light , I wouldn't recommend it, instead I will use some telephoto zoom with auto focus and a better f stop performance.

Q: 6. Are there front filter threads , and if so so what size are they? Images appear to show threading, but it could be non-standard filter threads.

A: Yes you are correct, those are front filter threads. The front thread diameter is a standard 58mm size, so any lens caps or filters made for 58mm diameters will be compatible.

Q: 7. Will this work with my canon 1200/t5?

A: I'm not really familiar with astronomy photography but I know wider is better for that type of image. You may want to take a look at the Tokina 11-16mm. It's made for an APS-C sensor so you will actually get an 11-16mm focal length.

Q: 8. I am really newbie to photography , just to confirm , this lens fits right to sony A6000 ?

A: Yes this will fit a Sony A6000.

Q: 9. Is this lenses all manual (focus and iris)? Can it be used with BlackMagic 2.5k mount MFT?

A: The BlackMagic Cinema MFT mount camera requires use of manual focus and manually adjustable aperture lenses. The silver Rokinon Reflex 300mm f/6.3 ED UMC CS Lens will mount on the camera but will not allow you to adjust the aperture of the lens as this lens has a fixed aperture of f6.3. The benefit of the camera using the MFT mount is the availability of adapters which will allow one to mount various manual focus/manual aperture lenses to the camera.

Q: 10. I have mounted this lens for Canon M on to my Canon M50 and set the shooting mode to M, but no response in shooting, why?

A: You would need to set the camera in the Menu in the Custom Functions section to shoot without a lens. The function is called Release shutter w/o lens, it needs to be set to enable.

[APS-C] I use this mirror lens specifically for astrophotography for use on a SkyTracker Pro mount. Reason is this lens is very light and I don't need to counter balance it. However, the only way to get perfect critical focus for astrophotography (and you can with this lens) is to use a SharpStar2 by Lonely Speck (Bahtinov Mask). This lens is well made and seems to be rock-solid. I use a SharpStar2 by Lonely Speck with all my lenses for astro work, regardless of focal length. Takes the guesswork out of getting perfect focus. Again - this 300mm Rokinon mirror lens is great for astro.

[f/6.3] The lens is difficult to use but is worth the effort.

There is no auto-focus and its takes time to manually get the image clear. It has a fixed aperture and the depth of field is limiting. Its best to always use a tripod because this lens is sensitive to shake. This lens should never be used on a windy day. When everything is right this lens produces good images that are sharp but not as sharp as a finer lens will produce. The doughnut shaped bokeh is very beautiful and artsy. In daylight its no problem getting proper exposure.

100% of the photos I took with this lens and then submitted to Adobe Stock were accepted and are currently for sale on their site. If the quality is acceptable to Adobe, who has a reputation for being very, very picky, its acceptable to me.

If you want to be creative this is a worthwhile item to add to your collection.

[5.5°] Ever since I learned about mirror lenses, in my film days, I've wanted to try one. I recently got an X-T5, my first digital interchangeable lens camera, and I wanted a telephoto lens. I saw this and just had to try it out.
First impassions, manual focus(not electrified) with a mirrorless camera is difficlelt compared to with an SLR, but it well doable if you're patient. I really enjoy using the donut shaped boke of this lens. It requires you to think a bit more about the background. Even though it's blurred it still has some busyness to it, which some photographers don't like. I think it's fun to work with. As others have noted, because this is a mirror/reflex/catadioptric lens, it is soft. My experience has this being softer than my vintage Canon FD mount lenses from the 70s and 80s. But, because this lens is catadioptric, it does not suffer the fringing and other chromatic aberrations that those old lenses have. In color, this looks sharper, in BW, the old lenses are way sharper.
I had a non-photographer friend comment that these photos looked like they were painted. That is because of the unique boke. If you want to use it, for that effect, you can do some cool stuff with it. I'm only scratching the surface of what this is capable of.
In short, make sure that you want the effects of a catadioptric lens before buying. If you don't like it, then save up for a normal 300mm lens. For me, this thing is a blast to use. So much fun.

[Manual Focus] I really like it. It’s small compact has a nice feel a lot better than the first previous version that they had before but it rocks now I would buy it again.

[Sony E] I am impressed with this lens especially since it’s so reasonably priced. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase it for astrophotography. The photos came out impressively sharp. Happy to have this lens in my arsenal now!

[APS-C] Surprisingly small and light yet solidly built. Handheld shooting requires a fast shutter speed but a tripod is still necessary for accurate framing as the viewfinder image is very shaky. Lens needs good focussing since the depth of field is very small. Interesting bokeh due to its mirror construction. Well suited for close - up photography as its minimum focus distance is quite small. Images have more softness than normal but nothing dramatic. If one knows about its idiosyncrasies then this lens is fun to use. One thing to keep in mind is that the lens focuses past infinity so even long distance shots must be focused accurately.

[APS-C] I always wanted a 250 to 300 mm reflex lens so when B&H camera offered the Samyang reflex 300mm lens I jumped at the chance to get one. It came within a few days after I ordered it and I put it on my Canon D50 to get a few test shots. I was surprised how nice it was to focus and how sharp for a reflex lens this Samyang 300 mm is. I thank Samyang for making this lens and I thank B&H Photo for offering it as a cost effective, quality telephoto lens.

[1.045 lb] Just bought this lens, and was pleasantly suppressed. I use this on my Canon 5D MK IV and a Canon D70 and there were no issues. Sense it has a permanent hood they also sent a great hood cap. I'm a Commercial Photographer and shoot various themes. And for the price how can you go wrong. Long term customer with B&H, never disappointed.

[5.5°] This is a mirror lens, so it will not be contrasty. IF it was film days, this would be terrible, but contrast is super easy to add in post.

It's sharp and the focus is well dampened. It could have a long throw, but it still works. On my Panasonic G9 the IBIS works well enough that I can hand hold it, but it really shines on a tripod.

It's is so light, that you don't mind carrying it on birding hikes.

This lens is the best value you will find for a long lens.

[Sony E] I purchased this specific lens as an ad-on to my lenses. I wanted something really wide but not a fish-eye , and this lens is great for that purpose
