[82 mm] This ring is needed to use with a wide angle and the Cokin Kit. I agree with another review that it difficult to screw on and off the lens (or lens filter. It does what is intended and works well but DO NOT get it on too tight. 5

[0.085 lb] When considering whether to buy filters of different sizes for different lenses, I chose to go the Cokin way and buy ONE set of filters (square) and multiple adapters. Works flawlessly. It was a good choice for me. 5

[82 mm] I was a bit worried that my Cokin P system wouldn't work with some of the newer 24-70 lenses with 82mm filter threads, but thankfully it works! It's probably about as large as you can go with the Cokin P system though, as there isn't much more than a very thin ring portion to the adapter. I haven't shot any frames yet (only test fit so far) so I can't comment on vignetting or any other issues, but I don't expect any major problems. 5
